      @@MidnighterClub 30 to 40 years ago an Asian engineer designed a triangle wheeled bike, with rubber tires, and a mechanism to counter the up and down action that would occur with triangular wheels. It was a hoot, and was featured in some magazine, at the time. I even think the seat accounted for the up and down action, too. Totally ridiculous, but very clever.

    I'm really surprised at all the negative comments on this one. A big part of inventing is having an interesting idea and then trying it out. A completely sincere "thank you" and "hats off" to this effort!

      Ive ridden dozens of bikes and not one has been this precarious and sketchy, turning on that doesn't look comfortable at all. if this was a commercial product, where are you gonna get replacement treads? from the manufacturer? the markup and delay compared to a traditional tried and tested bike is just not it. thought I think that this idea is inherently well executed just not something I'd ride for longer than 30 seconds just for the experience

    • @TychoBrahe
      @TychoBrahe Рік тому +1

      @malus1426 Not at all! I see a lot of honest opinions here that are framed as constructive criticism, and I have no problem with that, that's an important part of the learning and sharing process. But some are downright disparaging, and those are the ones that seem to be missing the spirit of the creative and innovative process. People can share honest opinions about how something turned out without tearing down the very important process of experimenting with new ideas in the first place.

      Not a great idea. It's a nice thinking project but not at all practical. It's only useful on smooth, hard surfaces. If that front track hits a root, big crack in the pavement, or a rock, you're going over the handlebars. No brakes. It's not a coaster. It peddled backward. Not being a coaster, the pedals turn as long as they're moving. Only one gear. He's peddling furiously to get any speed. But, more speed is proportional to how far you will be pitched off when that front track gets stopped by an obstruction.

    To be honest, it's the demonstration of skills and mindset to execute the plan no matter what it takes , no matter how many fails it takes to get there, no matter what the math says about distance over time. He needs to get it patented regardless of what anyone has to comment because the application could be used on small farms or surfaces that are weight distribution sensitive, physical therapy equipment. Don't let nobody talk you out of the many purposes it potentially could serve. Not everyone in the comments are engineers, not everyone gets blueprinting and the ability to execute that.

      @@uguana11 I can't speak for physical therapists, my experience after being injured trying physical therapy the equipment challenged my muscles and body it was not an easy walk in the park. This looks like it would be challenging in a good way to help recover and strengthen muscles.

      I can do all those things yet I still agree it was a useless invention, he's basically making sth that already exists so no need to patent as it most likely wont even be able to be patented

    That's awesome. On version 2.0 I think it would be awesome to design them with an A frame track or to add length to the forks and rear frame to position the tracks flat. Increase surface contact and get more distance per crank

      @kevinc233 Рік тому +7

      Yes, this is what I was thinking, too. It would need to be motorized. Otherwise, it's going to be hell getting it moving. The more surface area on the ground, the more friction to overcome.

    I feel like this project could use a revisit. I'm no engineer, but I'm thinking if you experiment with the gear ratios and put bearings in the wheels, maybe it would be a smoother and quicker ride.
    Also, maybe changing the angles/size of the wheels might help.
    Like I said, I'm no engineer, but I'm just throwing out ideas.
    I really enjoy your videos, by the way. 💡

    In terms of engineering this is impressive, however, I’d like to see someone create wheels that are balls and solid rubber. I once saw a commercial for a car with wheels like that. You do have a an amazing mind ☺️

      There's absolutely nothing impressive about this from an engineering standpoint. He simply made tracks. And worse, they are tracks with only a tiny footprint. This is actually an engineering fail.

    Here's a idea, put the tracks on circular things possibly with spokes for support that will be able to continuously go round and round for little to no effort. I think we have a billion dollar idea with that one
