- Installed the New Ebay Ko Lightning Exhaust on the wifes bike!!! She mostly did the work herself, with minimal help and some guidance along the way, and man is she happy with the result!! Nothing better than being able to say you did the custom work to your own bike!

It's a good kit for how much it costs, well worth the buy!
I just installed this on my 2016 r3 today..what a difference. That thing is loud for a r3. Easy install except the springs that come with it don't expand easily. So I used a torch. The 02 sensor fit fine. I'm going to get it flashed but I don't think you need it.
We will eventually flash this one as well, but for now it works wonderfully! Glad you are enjoying it after it going on pretty easy

Been running this exhaust for a week now and it’s crazy loud, shoots hella big flames & pops and burbles like crazy. Definitely worth it! neighbours might be pissed tho haha
Is it the exhaust that does it or have you done something else to get the flames and burbles?

Hello! great job on the install! Was wondering how well this kit held up and if you still have it on?
It's held up great but the bikes only been ridden 600 miles this far, which the kit has been on since it's had almost zero miles.
Hey broh, love the bike and video. But I have the same exhaust system and I noticed on the inlet of the slip on, there's a round like piece of pipe. And it's keeping the muffler to slide completely on the mid pipe. I noticed that you didn't take yours off. Are you supposed to take it off or leave it in the slip on?
The round pipe sits against the midpipe for adjustment, it should seal once you run the springs on it, I made a short video showing it go check it out
@b_baker oh ok, I had reached out to the seller and he said that it's supposed to come out. So I got some needle nose pliers and pulled it out and it slipped right on to the mid pipe. But nevertheless that thing is a beast. It absolutely screams. Baffles out is insanely loud. Stay safe and thanks for the response

No flash or block off plates currently, runs just fine. Would probably benefit from both tho
Did you install with the db killer or without. I have the same bike with the same kit not sure if I should leave the db off or on…. Sounds more aggressive with it off but it’s really loud. With it on it sounds good but I think I like it off.
I think it sounded good as I installed it without the DB killer, but ended up going back and putting the DB killer in it and left it that way. IMO you keep a lot of the sound to where it still sounds good but makes it quiet enough to not make your ears ring after a single ride around the block.
Did you install the decibel killer after your trip to Florida because I was watching the video of your trip and I really like the way it sounded while you were riding so I’m curious if that was before or after the db killer install?

is the tune really necessary? im having troubles on rather if i should really do it? i just want the bike to sound better unless the bike will go bad i would do it.
We don't run a tune but it's recommended.
Please how did you color your wheels? Did you buy new rims?
Took them off, stripped them down and had them powder coated

do you have to flash the ecu or can I run it without a tune? will it ruin my engine without it?
We have not tuned it yet and it's doing fine. My green bike also has a mid pipe swapped in it and no tune and has been okay as well.

Did u have to remove the charcoal canister? How about the o2 sensor?
Charcoal can I only slid over to clear, it's closer than I would like but time will tell if it melts or not. 02 plugs right back into place ez pz.
Finally installed it over the weekend. Damn need ear plugs as they sooooo loud lmao... even with the baffle on it's still not much difference in loudness. I know it's louder since you're the one on the seat when riding but hopefully neighbors dont feel the same haha

Back with another question I used your video for my installation, it’s loud and I like loud but It’s like 114DB have you put in a DB killer or earplugs. I liked riding with my AirPods :/ but it might not be the best idea now
We ended up putting the DB killer in and it was well worth it. Still sounds killer and is loud but not as obnoxous headache

Did it fit good in the headers
It fits okay, I had to tweak the headers a tad, and slide the canister up away from them
@@b_baker I put that exhaust over the weekend unfortunately it’s too loud for me taking it off today
@@tonysilva8222 if you do not have it installed, you should add the baffle /db killer. It quiets it down to much more appealing volume.

It's been great so far. Only complaint so far is it may be a little loud without the baffle.

I have yet to flash the ECU, it runs okay as is, but I believe it would benefit from a flash regardless.

What exhaust do you have on you Z900RS?
Stock exhaust with a deleted mid pipe, you cut the big underside cat/ muffler and replace with a new mid pipe I used one from eBay, and put the stock silencer back on the side and it sounds absolutely awesome.
@b_baker Thanks. I am trying to install the KO Lightning on mine, and there are no instructions. I can not find any detailed info on how to mount the headers. BTW, I have the identical Cafe. Did you get the instructions for your KO? Thanks.
@@albertqss I think it was minimal instructions, the install should be almost the same as any other kit for the same bike. And I love these cafe 900s! My dad has the non cafe rs and it's okay but the cafe is that much cooler. Best of luck with your install sorry I couldn't be of more help

Does the pipe touch other parts? I bought a similar exhaust pipe and it touched the black circular thing near the headers (not the oil filter) and it also touched the under fairing. Is it safe for the bike? I am worried it will melt.
I bent the pipes a bit by hand to move them away from touching the fairing and I also moved the black canister over and up to avoid being to close and touching and both seem to be doing okay so far.
That's the charcoal canister for smog. You can move and relocate it by moving it one hole over, or make a bracket to move it over a bit, or buy a block off kit and delete the whole thing.
