At the end of the day its a free flowing exhaust regardless of manufacturer, the quality and durability will be true test and most importantly the lack of street cred with a rip off exhaust. - Great video nonetheless guys!
@@provenpowercycles sir, is it true that 2017 - 2019 models run richer from factory and swapping full system doesn't REQUIRE a tune to be healthy? compared to later models with stricter emission compliance
@@jaxxvhin yup, soon. Like they've mentioned, it looks like these bike comes pig rich from factory. Exhaust fumes smells like unburnt gas. My bike just crossed 800miles
they are not "fake" they are just made in China like all of them, only the local retailer make it "genuine" - for a price. If people are stupid enough to buy from local dealers for a premium that's their choice. ~ 10 HP gain is normal for a cat delete complete line, it just a free flow pipe bit wider on the extractor which makes all the difference. To make it leaner just add high flow air filter and play with the velocity stacks if there's a lag on acceleration
You can't see the reason due to ignorance, but if you instruct yourself in the subject matter, it'll make perfect sense why companies charge so much for high-quality exhaust systems. 😊
Z900 is immensely underrated cheap power easy to mod, maintain and great MPGs for longer road trips as long as the exhaust kit holds up its worth it cost vs the fat heavy baffle resonator from factory
I just cut my breadbox leaving the catalytic and installed a fake akrapovic exhaust and I'm amazed with the sound aside from too much backfire in it. How to get rid of the backfire pls?
Throwing one of these on my 2024 Yamaha R7... my only worry is that the clearance is good with the farings and swing arm. Goimg to send my ecu out before i ride it too.. dont want to screw up my motor.
Open exhaust is an open exhaust but there’s a big difference between aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, carbon fiber and plastic.. weight differences & visual appeal don’t show up on the dynos 😏
1 How often does it backfires? 2 Is there any adverse effect on the engine, like the temperature and fuel consumption? 3 Is it necessary to do remapping/dyno? 4 Will it hurt the bike if you dont do remapping/dyno?
Hey there I'll answer your questions in order: 1) every bike is different on the backfiring. We can enhance or minimize it based on your mods and bikes reaction. 2). After an ecu flash and dyno tune, there are no adverse effects on motor. Fuel consumption will depend mainly on driving habits. The way I tune bikes, I like to get the customer best of both worlds. Good fuel mileage will cruising and power when they demand it. 3). I highly recommend tuning whenever you modify the performance of the bike. (Full exhaust systems and air filter are usually plenty enough to justify a full tune on majority of bikes). 4). It is possible to cause engine damage if you do not remap it or tune it correctly. Bikes running too lean or even too rich of a mixture can cause damage over time and also depends on driving habits.
@@provenpowercycles air filter alone is enough to justify a full tune? or only in combination with a full exhaust? I find it interesting that the bike was running rich before tune, even with the open full exhaust. I always read that the bike would run lean and not rich when switching to full exhaust before tune. Maybe with this bike you can do air filter without tune because it is running so rich? A tune would be nice but I'm in Germany. I do see though below 4k rpm it was actually running lean from stock already. with more open exhaust probably even more so. Is that not a problem? I once had the SC Project CR-T Slip-on (looks like the one in the video) with stock headers on my Z900 and I had this bucking that you described at around 3k rpm. seemed like it was running too lean even with stock headers. Now with less open slip-on SC1-R it's fine. Very cool and interesting video, mate! 👍👍
@optikforlife yes ilwe are finding more and more of the newer generation bikes are actually pretty lean at low rpm and then very rich at higher rpms. Very odd to us as well! We can always do a bench flash as well to help you out! It should make it better for you all in all 🤙
With majority of the bikes, leaving the o2 sensor in back feeds to the ecu and creates weird issues (such as bucking under light acceleration or just holding throttle steady). We remove the sensor from the main harness typically to ensure no back feed is possible. However, on some of the new bikes, cruise control function is directly related to emission sensors now so we're figuring out a work around on that.
@@provenpowercycleshello i bought a z900 2023 with 95hp a2 model mine is bocking when i drive it at a constant speed kawasaki says there is nothing wrong with the bike but it doesn't ride smooth what do you think that it could be ?
Yes we recommend that to pretty much any bike with a full exhaust system. Airflow changes drastically and needs to be compensated in the stock ecu mapping.
I would say the main reason name brand is expensive is the actual titanium material itself that makes the price crazy. these stainless steel systems are way cheaper.
