I disagree. I think it’s fair to expect a simple “yes or no” answer to a question regarding one’s belief in something clearly stated in the Creed. You can sort out all the esoteric details later but it’s points such as belief in the resurrection especially that determine whether you’re Christian or you’re not.

Jordan earlier stated that belief has been watered down in current times. He's not unbelieving of it, in our sense. He believes but is yet confounded by the subject of his belief because it's not something he grasps fully. So he struggles with it and professes in a manner true to his precise nature.
If he didn't believe, he'd simply dismiss it. But he does believe it and so he wrestles with it and himself.

It's a good thing he doesn't adhere to your personal view of " fairness" nor anyone else's. I surely don't. It's a complex matter, that he grapples with, out in the open, unlike you. All we can do is give him the grace he deserves. Just like anyone else we know. He's not obligated to satisfy our insecurities.

@bellamyoughton4893 you just proclaimed what and how he needs to answer, in order to be a true Christian. I'd say it was rather direct. Perhaps not pleasant, but unfair? Grace my friend, grace.

No it’s not lol, faith and reason do not contradict in Catholic theology. Faith means submissive commitment and trust, like being faithful in a marriage, or having faith in God even though you don’t understand the circumstances of your life. You can and should actually arrive at such faith by reason and evidence, and it’s worth examining because I think that the rational arguments are certain and the evidence is strong. No one is invited to have a blind and arbitrary faith.
