    I am 66, married and I appreciate everything Jordan has said in this video. I pray the rosary when I need comfort and strength. I have developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not only through the church, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, but through my own personal trials and emotional upheavals and my growing love and devotion to the Lord.

      If Christ cared about you at all, even a little bit, there's not a snowball's chance that He wouldn't continuously urge and even Command you to purge 1), 2) and 3).

      @johnmcwade1 5 місяців тому +1

      In my experience, this is backwards. On the cross Christ forgave everyone unconditionally. The statement, "repent and be forgiven," or "believe and be forgiven" is transactional and not grace; it creates an "in" group and an "out" group, which is what Jesus came to abolish. Rather, it should be, "I repent BECAUSE I have been forgiven." It's God's forgiveness that makes our repentance possible.

      @@johnmcwade1 Thats a very interesting thought but Im not sure if thats the case or at least no what he is teaching. Im not an expert on that by any means but there are a couple of passages that comes to my mind, mainly Matthew 10:34 and Matthew 25:31n. There are a lot more than that. I belive that God's infinite justisce and love means that he is willing to forgive you anything as soon and as many times as needed if you recognize your sins and asks him for forgivenes.
      Look on it from a different perspective if someone has seriously wronged you and even if its hard you want to forgive them - I dont think you should do that if that person doesnt acnowledge that what he did was wrong. Because that doesnt invite improvement and is naive.
      Having said that I really want to believe that when someone meets God after death one gets to choose God or not, one last time, regardless of what happend on earth. But that's not whats written on the bible at least not to my knowledge.
      Let me know what do you think of it. And maybe we could both grow in Christ. Take care brother.

    • @johnmcwade1
      @johnmcwade1 5 місяців тому

      @@kito8968 Thanks for your note. I’m no expert, either, but I have a couple thoughts.
      Forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation, and forgiveness is not the same as salvation. Forgiveness is a freeing, a letting go. Letting go frees you as much as it frees the other. It doesn’t mean you’re reconciled, and it doesn’t mean they’re “saved.” But you’re both free. You could say that in Christ, God “let go” of sin and thereby freed everyone.
      As a practical matter, for those of us who believe, it means we’re free to make mistakes, free to be wrong, free to repent, turn around, try a better path. There’s great joy in this. We’re free to not judge ourselves. (The ego is very judgmental.) I once heard it said, “It’s a good idea to not let go of your sin until you’ve learned what it has to teach you.” I love this. Only God’s forgiveness in Christ makes it possible. It’s truly Good News!
      As for the sheep and goats, the ten virgins, the sword and not peace, I think Jesus was observing reality. Five virgins had neglected their oil and were asking the others to save them. They were thoughtless and irresponsible, which is a bad way to go through life. The others were not obligated to “save” them, not that they could anyway.
      Thoughts?

    Hello Mr. Peterson. I am a loving homosexual man who found my strength in Jesus Christ. It took 37 years to say this. My life has been of rejection, violence and betrayal, pluss my own private hell. My father is Palestinian, my mother is biracial British, I was born in Norway where it is literally cold and dark. My life was hard from the very second I was was born, but now there is hope and I have a future. My story is yet untold, but I hope one day I will have the courage to tell it. I thank you deeply for articulating the layers of Jesus to a world so in need of a possible miracle sounding in their ears- when theres is so much shouting and bombing and confusion in this very moment. The preaching of the cross is the power of the gospel of the grace of God.
    By the cross of Christ God is able to take wicked, sinful, enemies and offer them free justification through faith (Rom 3:24; Rom 5:1).
    By the preaching of the cross we are delivered from the bondage of the law (Col 2:14; Gal 5:11).
    Through the blood of Christ’s cross we are reconciled to God and have peace with him (Col 1:20; Rom 5:1; 2 Cor 5:19).
    We receive forgiveness and redemption by the blood shed there (Eph 1:7).
    The preaching of the cross procures eternal life to all who would trust solely in its atoning work (Eph 1:13).
    The preaching of the gospel would be vain without the preaching of the cross (1 Cor 15:14). It is for this reason that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish.
    The one who we call Saviour was crucified. There is no glory to man on earth to be crucified.
    Replacing religious works, the law, special days, and baptism with the cross requires a complete faith that Christ did everything necessary for salvation and is offering it all graciously to those who work not (Rom 4:5).
    It is foolish to the world not to offer their works to God. It is foolish to the world to claim that one young man dead on a cross is the answer to the world’s problems.
    To the religious Jews the death of the Messiah was a sign of weakness, not a sign of power.
    Yet to us which are saved, it is the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24).
    It is only through the preaching of the cross that our works are removed from salvation so that no flesh should glory in his presence (1 Cor 1:29).
    Instead of the glory being in us, the glory is firmly placed in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and what he was made for us by that cross (Gal 3:13; 1 Cor 1:31; Rom 16:27).
    The preaching of the cross of Christ is the power of God unto salvation.
    I glory in the cross: without it I am still dead (Eph 2:1; Eph 2:13).

The debates are endless and so predictable. Why Trump is so popular amongst yhe Evangelicals because all secular political debate has reduced and bottomed out. As Jordan says "whether you literally believe the gospel or not", religion brings us to our own core truth. Even American Founders, whi were students of the western tradition knew that political systems were necessary but transitory to higher truth and understanding. The world has progressed from conflict between individuals to tribes, political groups, social groups, races, political partys and now complete nations. In spite of hating Trump's ego, he still understands the truth "lies" at the very bottom of our ego or core identity. The very thing the story touches.

      No, Pilate condemned him while saying that his own hands were clean. Even if he truly believed Jesus was guiltless, he ignored his conscious in favor of political expediency.

      [15] And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      [24] When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
