Yesterday night I was home, thinking that my prayer life has been a bit stagnant lately. I was feeling remorse and a growing anxiety. And then, out of the blue, Vivaldi's "Winter" 1st move began to play inside my head. I felt the urge to play it in my stereo, and all of the sudden all that remorses and anxiety vanished. I felt at peace. I can only infer that Our Lord and Saviour was telling me "calm down. I know. I'm here". I went to bed, pray and slept like a baby. Our Father in Heaven has His misterious ways to communicate with us. It's like being at home, alone, feeling like trash, heavy breathing. Then you open the window to let some air in and refresh, and immediately a blackbird begins to sing outside. I call those "God's caresses".

Years ago when you gave a talk at my parish and I seem to recall you broke out in song (U2 I think) to bring home your point. You’re using music to evangelize, so it makes sense that as this is how your brain is wired for God to use this to help you understand. This is a tool in your tool belt!

Marcia Brady! That’s hilarious! I think I have been guilty of censoring my prayers all my life. I bury my true feelings because I’m afraid to show God my real heart and feelings. I feel like it would be sinful even though God already knows my deepest, darkest thoughts and feelings. Thanks for sharing.

This is very true, so long as the thoughts are not directing you away from God. I experience this all the time. A precious one is when "Just the way you are" came up, so I played it, and cried my heart out because I knew God loves me so much.

Don't go changing, trying to please me
You never let me down before
      I don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I would not leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are
Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
      I don't want clever conversation
I don't want to work that hard
I just want some someone to talk to
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from my heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

It’s been hard for me to wrap my head around that idea that God can use bands like Def Leppard, Pink Floyd and Foreigner to connect to my soul. Or that he could use horror movies like Halloween(1978) or Jaws(1975) to speak to my heart. I find the more I allow God to enter into my life intimately through deep prayer the more I can untwist these songs and movies to reveal a heavenly message for me to discover. Thank You Christopher for all that you do!! God Bless You, Your Family and your ministry!!!

Hello Christopher, first of all thank you very much for your work. It really brought my faith life and experience to the next level.
I have a question/request I want to ask you. Could you comment on the new Mary Statue which was recently published in the Cathedral of Linz, Austria? It is a statue of Mary giving birth to Christ. But like actually giving birth. Legs open, I even think you can see the head of the child coming out and all of that.
I would be really thankful if you could leave a response or even make a response video to it. I would really like to know what an expert on the topic TOB would say to this. I had some discussions with some other catholics about it. Most of them took the position that the statue is blashphemious, a disrespect to Mary and so on. I, and I was the only one, thought that, eventhough the statue is somewhat scandulous, it still has some very profound theological thruths. Being witness of the incarnation ond so forth.
Overall I would really love to know what your thoughts are as an expert. I would be very thankful.

Do you have anything to say about the topic of anime? As an animation style, it is very popular around the world and especially among American men. As an art form itself it's not evil, I know that, but I find it lends itself a lot more to temptations of lust than other mediums. I have, and occasional still do, find it hard to overcome the temptation it gives me, and I have always wondered why it seems to have such a strong hold on other men as well. Is it because it provides an idealized (that is to say bastardized by the demon of lust) representation of the female body as an object for pleasure, or more likely that it is a style that has become a widespread gateway to porn in our society? Or is this purely my own experience? I would greatly appreciate some insight from Theology of the Body

I have a question to the theology of the body Institute:
Dr. West always says that it's wrong to use another person.. But what if we are in need? If somebody is sick, he needs a doctor, if somebody is lonely he needs a friend. Why can't we say, that, if I feel the desire for sex, I need someone who can or wants to give it to me? Is it just because of all the possible risks that come with sex? But aren't other things we desire, like to climb on a mountain or swim in the ocean, or take some medicine that could be also dangerous, also risky? I need some more clarity here.. Why is it ok to be in need and ask for help in so many things of life, but not in sex?

    • @TheologyoftheBodyInstitute
      @TheologyoftheBodyInstitute  13 днів тому

Hello @honest-fanboy ! Thank you for your honest question. It's always wrong to use a person merely as an object, but if a a sick person "uses" a doctor when he's sick then that is not wrong as long as it's is not merely using him as an object but honors his dignity as person. If you'd like a deep dive into the topic then we'd highly recommend the series we did with Matt Fradd on Love & Responsibility: ua-cam.com/play/PLAbqXQaOvkM4UxMiREWkgYmY-PHTEnRtn.html

I have a question relating to theology of the body: So marriage in the Church is a sacramental sign that is fulfilled by supernatural communion with God in Heaven. Marriage wouldn’t be necessary if we have the thing that it signifies in fullness. With all that being said, the Beatific Vision (which is what supernatural communion consists in) is infinitely gratuitous. We don’t deserve the Beatific Vision and God would not be unjust in not giving it to us. Because of that, is it technically possible for God to raise us to a life of perfect natural happiness instead of supernatural happiness, similar to how it was in Eden? In such a hypothetical state, would marriage be available, perhaps even necessary, for the complete fulfillment of interpersonal communion?

I don’t think you are right . If you are distracted during prayer with images from movies , songs you need to not yield to it but focus and exercise your mind to silence to hear God speak . It’s a struggle but Christ will help us

    • @profesorwyobraznia2652
      @profesorwyobraznia2652 12 днів тому

The thing is, those songs and scenes from movies are how God speaks. Just as He used stories relatable to people of His time as parables, He now speaks to us through what is relatable to us. Of course there is also time for meditation of the msyteries of His life, of God more directly. But these "casual" things like songs can also be a way for God to speak profoundly. God bless you and Mary and Joseph keep you!

    • @Goldman_Stacks
