Its not so very long ago that Norwegian trains had a middle level like nate talked about, communal cabins with three bunks where you could win the jackpot and go alone or most often with one or two strangers. I belive i remember the price was like 300 kroner which was very affordable compared to plane tickets back then. Now trains are so expensive they are mostly for enthusiasts if you are not travelling to or from a location along the way

That's also why you'll never see people sit next to each other on a bus if there are empty seats, people don't want other people that close unless we know them, again because we treasure our personal space greatly and the small-talk is simply a waste of time for us.

Of course the coffee is free, you're basically renting a hotel room on wheels, if a hotel didn't offer me free coffee, in Norway I would turn, run and never come back. Also, the water is clean, you can drink it from the tap.
From the tap on the train? Nah, I wouldn't do that. From hotels or houses? Sure! But the train? No way. Btw, I used to be a train conductor and I would rather go thirsty than drink the tapwater on the trains.

It is abit different in the coaches where you sleep than, say.. from the tap on the toilets on the trains. I remember we were told not to drink the tapwater on the trains due to contamination, and this was after they found contamination in the watersupply for the coffeemachines. And one should think those were cleaned often.

The minipris "mini price" is only for seated seats. Not bedrooms. Also you will have from 1 - 3 options. Economy(basic seat.) Comfort (better than basic seat aswell as free coffe/tee aswell as blankets and news papers. And last and most expensive is the bedrooms. :) for long trips 5h+ the bedrooms is the most pleasant way by far! :)

I dont think wanting to be alone is only norwgian thing! todays generation have become SOFT SNOWFLAKES! For us that grew up in the 1960s 70s 80s and had to spend 12 months in the military, and slept in say 16 men tents ore 36 men room,, sharing room became more natural. i have seen a big change in norwegian culture since the 1960s

In Chile (southamerica) we have natural yoghurt (without anything) but all the others are sweet. Milk also taste a bit sweet, but that might be because have alot of things to make it last longer. My husband is norwegian, and i lived 7 years there...i never got used to the taste of the yoghurt and always added sugar.
You're right. I live in the USA and only eat unsweetened yogurt. My favorite workday breakfast is a tall glass of plain kefir. The only way I can have yogurt and kefir this way is because a local dairy farm makes their own products, so it's farm to me - one step - yum!! Unsweetened yogurt and kefir is totally NOT available in commercial supermarkets. And both of those taste like sweetened yuk to my palate. :D

I was looking for the best night train trips to Norway, which is rare for travelers and I saw this on UA-cam. It was actually third from my search, but the static thumbnail caught my eye. I saved it right away, but I couldn't help but subscribe right away, too, 'cause when I scrolled down to the old videos, I was amazed that you've been to the most awesome places I wanna be! Iceland, Antartica, Amsterdam...Name it. What makes this channel really awesome and not boring is that, it gives audiences what they really want. It's like, taking them along as you travel, without boring intros about you or what stuff you wear, for example. Also, it is very natural, and each clip is short and straightforward. One more thing I like is that, you are both willing to try unique food and no matter how bad things can get, you seem to still enjoy the travel. And you are generous with info on how you made the trip possible through miles and points. And I liked that this channel is not even meant to be a vlog initially. You deserved those number of subscribers. This channel is really awesome. Keep it up! 😊
Scandinavian countries have the best trains and comfort in trains. I might not be from Norway but I a lived in Sweden for 10 years. I am now in Australia. Love your videos
When I lived in Russia I rode one of the overnight trains, most amazing experience I’ve ever had. The food in the train was better then much of the food in restaurants in the states. I remember ordering a sausage plate with a small bottle of vodka (the vodka costed an exorbitant price, but there was nothing like drinking Русский Стандарт on the train. It’s incredible).
We were in Norway last August for the first time and stavenger was one of our stop. Beautiful city. Norway is an AMAZING place to visit. We rented a car and drove around Norway. Best thing ever... it is the most expensive place to eat. Airbnb was not cheap nor hotel accommodation but the experience was worth every penny

11:06 It was one of the most expensive countries to live in , and it still is, but the value of our currency has dropped quite a bit so it's not really that expensive anymore compared to what it was a few years ago. Oslo was also the most expensive city to live in for a number of years before the oil prices collapsed in 2014 which lead to the decline in the Norwegian currency.

This video makes me miss home. I used to live in Stavanger and 2 hour south from Oslo is where i grew up. Hope you liked it in Norway. Norwegians are social, it just depends on who you meet.

@ Scandinavian tap water tastes better than normal water you get at stores and is prolly cleaner aswell..

@ in the Netherlands all tapwater is clean, unless it's specifically mentioned... which is practically never.
@ You'd be seen as very weird in Norway if you buy water.. Why buy water when you have perfectly clean water on any tap, anywhere?

11:06 It was one of the most expensive countries to live in , and it still is, but the value of our currency has dropped quite a bit so it's not really that expensive anymore compared to what it was a few years ago. Oslo was also the most expensive city to live in for a number of years before the oil prices collapsed in 2014 which lead to the decline in the Norwegian currency.
