      You can make it kid. Make a plan: figure out where you wanna go, how you're going to get there, who'll go with you, save up a lot of money, then just go for it! 😊 it'll take time, but maybe by the time you're grown, you'll be just like Kara and Nate

      You can imagine how common that sentiment is. For me, material things comprise such a small part of life's joys. I'd reduce everything else to lower my carbon footprint and use it mostly on traveling. Norway, Italy and Japan are really the only places I want to spend extended time and I live in the states, so lot of US states.

      it was a $40 stay if i heard correctly... save up some, take a flight, stay in cheap countries for months on less than $1000. most of south east asia is both beautiful and cheap... lodging in Bali with a pool multiple rooms enough for 12+, beautiful showers, a chef for 3 meals/day etc, can be as cheap as $250/day iirc thats $20/person if you get 11 other friends together. but thats also if youre looking to stay in luxury. look around do some research and save up take a long trip backpacking across beautiful areas, or a shorter one in luxury with friends

      Norway gotta be the worst play to travel if you have ur dogs with u.
      Im from Norway myself and i come across so many places that dont allow dogs at all, or you need to have them in a cage, but then dont have any cages available in the huts.

    I know these vlogs are supposed to be about you two travelling the world, and they are.
    But I love that there is another story, about how much in love the two of you are. Kara getting up before sunrise for hikes and trying new things, Nate dragging a bucket of stream water back to boil for the traditional coffee in bed. This is a modern love story!

    My great grandmother was born on an " island" in the Hardinger Fiord. It was abandoned when the herring runs failed. My great grandparents immigrated to the US in the 1860s or 70s. They kept in touch with their relatives. My cousin visited LA last summer and we got to re- connect. Her dad is the tug boat captain that pulled the artic exployer boat from North America back to Norway

    These Cabins are ALL over Norway, and especially in remote areas.
    The Sheets, usually are clean, and its "common knowledge" to bring your own liner or sleeping bag.
    Most cabins have some kind of payment for overnight stay, or for using gas/wood for stove.
    The organisation is called DNT and roughly translates into (The Norwegian Tourist Union) and they have 1000's of volunteers that keep them clean and fully supplied.
    Glad you got to use one, and were happy with your stay!

      I too was a bit amazed. Once a year???!!!
      Me thinks a new chore should be added. Soak sheets in a tub with a bit of biodegradable soap. Rinse in the stream or using the shower. Wring out water. Hang to dry in bathhouse. New guests can get their linens there when they arrive!

    • @mimmit8143
      @mimmit8143 5 років тому +26

      You need to bring a sleeping bag, the sheets are just to protect the bed. The cabin’s are restocked by volunteers, and there are over 500 cabins in norway that are a part of this program. Some of the cabins takes over 7 hours to reach by foot and are very time and money consuming to restock.
      :)

      BeckyP InCalifornia on these huts people bring they’re own sheets to sleep in. So nobody like sleeps right in the sheets already on the bed. They put clean sheets from home and jus tout it over
