    Another great video. 🙏 I sat on one of these at the NEC show, personally I still prefer the look of the 2023 CB500X but the TFT screen is a very nice upgrade. These are the perfect first bike and more than enough for most people. Shame they haven’t t solved the turbulent air problem that plagued the previous generation also.

    • @Thirsty_Fox
      @Thirsty_Fox 9 місяців тому +2

      I had to get a wind deflector for my '22 as the OEM screen and even the taller touring screen had unbearable buffeting. It's almost completely solved it but it does look a bit dorky. The shorter WRS windscreen also worked decently but leaves you in the cleaner wind.

    • @UKbiker73
      @UKbiker73 9 місяців тому +1

      @@Thirsty_Fox I’m also running a deflector on my 2023 CB500x which does help, but it has serious “commuter vibes” which kills the adventure look. I fitted a rugged looking headlight guard (see profile pic) to distract from it 😂 Weirdly, my 2014 CB500x didn’t have this buffeting problem at all 🤷

    • @wewaits45

      @@UKbiker73 I have a 19 with the stock screen and have no buffeting issues at all, it is a taller screen though and I'm not the most vertically blessed individual.

    I have a 2023 NC750x and before I made my purchase I drove the NC500x and was stunned. Only reason I went with the NC is because its more capable of 2up + lugguage but can't stop thinking of getting the NX500 as well.

    Thanks for bringing this ride review out Dan. I recently had the opportunity to ride a friend’s 2023 CB500X and thoroughly enjoyed it. So tempted with new NX500, and if funds ever became available I would have a difficult choice deciding on the outgoing model, which can be bought for just under £6200 (plus otr), or push the boat out for the NX. Looking forward to your long term review. Cheers

    Just a shame that Honda only offers cruise control as an option on their larger bikes, so this and the Transalp etc have to go with out. It's annoying as the smaller bikes are still great touring machines. I'm a current CB500x owner and its the reason I will have to look elsewhere when I decide to upgrade.

    • @thebrowns5337
      @thebrowns5337 8 місяців тому +1

      @@leeinwisAsk Aprillia - they add cruise control to their smaller bikes (sometimes admitedly as a £400 option - although that can be fitted later when you have the cash), and they still sell just as many big bikes.

      @Tonyx.yt. Місяць тому

      @toobenjittoquit7711 oh yeah, i rided 12500km from april to october 2024, is the most refined revision of the cb500x lineup, not the cheapest, not many fancy accessories but everything is well balanced, well engineered and well built, feels quite agile and nimble (compared to chinese 500cc rivals), maybe deserve more top end power but overall is a great package. No problem even with 800km of highway in one day, with average highway speed of 140kmh.
      The very only issues is the windshield not suitable for fairly tall riders because cause severe buffeting , so i removed the windshield the very first day and everything went fine.
      Suspensions works quite good for the price point, beign progressive in compression and nicely damped in the rebound, if you are not seeking blasting accellerations and 200+ kmh speeds, is a very good motorcycle to travel around, with the plus of not beign overly heavy or too bulky.

      First just the sheer power. I came from a CB650r and wanted a more straight up bike with more comfort. So the dealer let me switch bikes for free. I thought that the 500 was fun enough but I really missed the power on long highway roads with a passenger. And the bike running just 3800 rpm at 100kmh. And yes I want to hooligan around sometimes and the 48 hp wat not fun enough for me.

      It's basically a small Transalp. No reason to make the NX bigger when you have the Transalp that's exactly that.
      The CB500X and the NX500 are limited to 47hp on purpose, and that's what people forget when reviewing these bikes. They're A2 bikes, that's how they're marketed. A2 is limited at 47 horsepower, so obviously they can't make it any faster. These two models are dominating the A2 market, and that's exactly their purpose.

The 500 would keep me riding many more years. The only observation I have as a solo tourer is how 'stressed' the bike feels at legit road speeds (70mph) without getting tiresome.. typical speeds i ride at when abroad.. I saw on your video (21:45) at 64mph doing 5K revs in 6th... other reviews sort of indicate over 70 not its best place..

Or a v strom 650 ? The NX build quality is certainly better than the suzukis, as is the screen and the versys wont get anywhere near 75-80 mpg. Im struggling between an ADV 350 or this. The underseat storage on the ADV is a big sacrifice. Mostly il be commuting to work with a few weekend rides and 1 or 2 foreign tours. honda just patented its design for the upcoming 350cc adventure bike. The engine is from its predecessors CB 350, highness CB 350 and CB 350 RS. The design resembles the himalayan 411 which is a big success in indian markets. If honda had placed this bike's price in correct segment like its competitors in india we would have seen this bike more often on indian roads. It's price is of double the cost of himalayan 450 in india which is a major drawback for this bike. other than that this is a awesome bike. i love the weight distribution in this bike and handles so easy and smooth.

But it doesn't seem to be a problem. These kind of bikes is what I actually want, they will unfortunately kill you on long north American highways. Good review! I was first interested in the Himalayan 450 or Triumph 400x and the Honda CL500. I've had a lot of single cilinder bikes (royal Enfield Meteor 350, Duke 390, Vitpilen 401 and loooong time ago a Dominator (SLR, Vigor 650).
    I like the smoothness of the twin cilinder engine.
    Did you tested the CL500 and is there engine wise any different between the NX500 and the CL500?
