I have nothing but used equipment with a couple exceptions and I think even with all the days of getting ticked off at having to fix something, I am glad to have learned how to do the repairs so this is probably a great teaching tool for the young man for sure!
I was watching Netflix, trying to get in a good mood before I went to sleep, and wasn't having much luck what with all the violence and drama. Then I thought I'll give you tube a go, and there was this video. Thanks so much for sharing. You make more of a difference than you know. 👍
Warren the reason why your so successful not only in life but with your business is because of who you are as a person. Karma is everything keep up the great and inspiring work. A young kid wanting to work hard is a feat in today’s age.
That 3000 series tractor is legendary. Totally worth every drop of sweat and dollar you put in to keep her going. Good job to you for helping out a young fella trying to have a go. And also, I totally agree with you that service truck is an amazing rig. You can't get a better platform to work from as a heavy diesel mechanic.
Warren, You are a very good person for helping this young man. One other note about California. California is non-compliant with reality! Good things happen to good people......
I think front weighs have gotten most everyone I know including me. I split a compact John Deere to do a clutch job. It split fine using floor jacks. Set both halves on jack stands fine. Removed the old clutch off fine until I took off the flywheel. The front half tipped over on its nose in slow motion like you had. Classic!
Nice to see people each other where they can, especial someone who's starting there business. Thanks for introducing us to another great youtuber... Cheers

I had a 3140 in my shop and everything was slow, I put a gauge on the reservoir up front and it has 130 to the front pump so I took the valve body off the front pump and found a steel shaving in the valve I cleaned it up put it back on the pump and away it went. I like those tractors once there split I usually put all new seals in the pto hi lo fwd clutch and put new lines and a pump in and they go another 30 years probably. I usually switch the hi lo lever up and down and see if the pressure changes same with the pto and fwd. Great video I like watching you work 👍
Love David Haley no matter what happens he's always in a good mood. He cracks joke's on his own equipment and worker's but he seems to be a good guy to work for
I am a mechanic, and I know of NO mechanics being watched (while they hit, pry, snap, heat and break customers equipment), great videos, better than tv.
Anyone starting out in any business that tries to have new everything will go broke trying to make the payments. Way too much capital in new equipment. That's why we need mechanics like you Warren! Keeping the old stuff running till the finances allow for new equipment!
When I was a kid starting out farming I had a 4650 shell a power shift,,,, it was my only tractor. JD wanted 15 grand to fix it. Neighbor who was retired from Deere and had a nice shop offered to let me use his shop and taught me how to do it. Looked like a bomb went off in his shop!!!! Split it, pull the cab, both axle housings.... but it saved me a lot of money! I still have that tractor! With the same rebuilt power shift.
The thing came apart so easy if you were down hill you would be running after it lol I will check out David thanks for the tip enjoyed your video take care
Your a good man there Charlie Brown ! I love that splitting cart you made ! I keep saying I’m gonna build one lol! This winter I am 👍! Have a good week thanks for sharing take care now 👍
Just had this problem with my 3140. It was a one of the internal oil pump lines. Had a mechanic here. He checked the pressure and the same valve you did then proceeded to do a rear transmission split. He unbolted the cab mounts and we cut some 2x6s to rest the cab on as if it was on stilts, then rolled the rear end away a couple feet.
That there is some nice work! I'm impressed 💪🏼 Never worked on anything that size but I've replaced my fair share of engine and transmissions in cars, and I find that to be hard work. You're making this look easy 😎 Keep it up! 👌🏼
I built my own splitter for the 40 series Deere and lend it out to others who need to work on their tractors in the area. Just one of those must have tools when you need it, also made a 4' bar with socket welded on it for the pesky hard to reach bolt on the 40 series. A little imagination goes a long way.
There also a square cut o ring that can go bad where the cases go together. The hydraulic systems on these ol girls were basic and never changed much. Nice to see them still moving.
Very interesting.. what was sold in Europe as a 3350. Few differences, twin assistor rams on the rear lift, bar axles, the curved rear fenders ( mudguards to us) and an extra grab handle on the hood above the front axle. We never got the 50/55 series with the muffler above the front hood either. If you drop the 4wd drop unit housing, you should be able to check the two alloy pipes that can crack. You'll have to split it to change them, though!
Ah, I was wondering about the muffler above the bonnet, I thought that was a custom job to save on buying the muffler boxes under the bonnet which tend to go and are not exactly inexpensive to buy.
@@disturbedcarrot That's probably the reason, Jimbo. The under bonnet ones run about 200 Euro. Problem is the hole in the bonnet doesn't line up with the exhaust manifold outlet.... Watching the end, the under bonnet one is there, but it's the older model one. The newer style muffler was smaller and more expensive...
@@nigelmchugh5541 Thanks Nigel. Trying to figure the reasoning behind some of the differences. Were the bar axles more suited for duals? The rounded fenders allowed room for the headlamps? The EU's regs for lighting insists they go on the front and under a certain height - I think that's why EU Magnums had 4 headlights not just 2. Don't know the reason for the second assistor ram. I assume the American models carried AC as well.
@@disturbedcarrot Yes, bar axles are a US feature, where tractors seem to live with duals on much more than over this side of the Atlantic. Let's you space out the duals as well. Thanks for the education. I was hoping to see how to get to the pump. I have a 3040 JD. With stiff steering have checked everything you did on it except the flow meter. Wondering if you did a video on the removal or check out of that hydro pump. Im thinking about cracking it. Thanks again.
If I had to replace every stinking part on the tractor I’d still prefer it over the newer emissions & electronic nightmares. Paint color don’t matter anymore cause they all suck.
When I did the clutch on my 3050 I don’t have a set of those external torx head sockets, but a 12 point Snap-On Flank Drive Plus socket fits really nicely !. There’s nearly always a way if you haven’t got quite the right tool 😎
