Thanks for this playthrough of As We Descend, Splattercat! It was a delight watching you descend into the lore of things and figure out the gameplay on the spot. I also didn't expect the full narration of the dialog text; it's wild to hear all my writing get spoken out as a voiceover! -Kev, Game Director
Sure is eye twitching watching splat sometimes, empower after using all his attacks lmao But he's our boy :) Game looks good! Love the detail and world building. Can definitely feel the heart and dedication going into this title. Cheers to your success, keep up the great work guys, wishlisted! Looking forward to release!

You say vibes of Frostpunk... and i would also say the city state idea gives a feel of the old RTS Perimeter. For those that don't know... Perimeter also had survivours in a unique post apocalyptic shielded city you were charged with defending. That shield was the perimeter of the title. There were other survivor cities as in Frostpunk but most were hostile, split among three factions. I don't like these card games generally but this is the most interesting one I've seen recently. Story and presentation are good.
There's this game called "Erannorth Renaissance" that released on Steam this summer- it looks like something that might be up your alley, and nobody else is covering it from what I've been able to find on UA-cam.
Just discovered this game today, glad you were able to take a look at it. Card games have gotten rather stale recently so it's nice to see one try some new things.
Can I ask if you would tell us if there is the ability to change keybinds when you review games. I have purchased too many games that I just can't play due to my inability to use WASD to move. I would appreciate knowing before I play a game. I sure love those who have demos as I can find out before spending money.
One advantage is that it's a way to get feedback before things are finalized. If enough of the creators and viewers complain about some quirk or design decision, there's more of a chance to get it revised before the actual release.
That dice roll system threw me off immediately. I see 72% chance to succeed like XCom and other tactics games, but then 2d6... What does 2d6 do as a percentage? I have played D&D for a long time and many editions, and I know how to do math on percentages, but it's still just a weird sequence.
"The council has decided; You are granted the title of Warden of the wall. You will retrieve..." I am reminded what Rorschach of the Watchman said "The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no."" I take it that the game does not have an option for refusing the quest?

you guys should reach out to angory tom from the yogscast. this seems right up his ally.
@@snakeyes1719 Great suggestion - I'll give that a shot!
@@snakeyes1719 I've reached out to him, hope he replies. If you're one of his viewers, maybe ask him about it too? Thanks!

i would reckon it'd be more 'agape' then 'ajar' .. unless the expectation was already there.. pure surprise tho/ that shit be agape

This has been on my wishlist since March, and this is the first video Splat has done on it, so I don't know how it got there.
draw of the cards.
I know from playing XCom that a 72% chance is 100% going to miss. 😂
three-quarters of the time, it misses every time.
Nah 72% is always a good shot. 95% tho 💀
This art is phenomenal

Awesome to see you covering this! Just saw the trailer and wanted to know more about the game. Thanks for doing what you do up in the Nerd Castle 🏰
They had me with "Troika" reference.
So glad you are covering this game!
Bro said, I know just where to keep all my post-its. *Dons Hat*
Medieval post-apoc?
Please be good please be good please be good because this is my jam
Genuinely looks like an interesting title.
Just discovered this game today, glad you were able to take a look at it. Card games have gotten rather stale recently so it's nice to see one try some new things.
The art style is very fine.
Love the art direction! Looks promising.
I'm not always one for card battle games, but I'm going to keep my eye on this one.
I don't like card games too, but this looks fun.
This does look awesome. Great artstyle and nice mechanics
This game looks fun. I guess the town cards are to simulate the limited time between cycles.
this is something I would want to play! definitely wish listing this
Played the demo and it's great. Looking forward to buying.
This looks interesting and I like the card mechanic.
Oh I am super sold. Wishlisted!
was watching the stream announcing the title when i saw this go up lol
Battle brothers mentioned. Video liked.
fair nuff.
OH? The machine god you say? Yes, yes! By the Omnissiah I'll gladly be the Warden of the Wall. Hahahah!
Demo is available and I like it.
This looks really cool, gives me daekest dungeon vibes.
wishlisted. Looking good actually.
A little reading, but manageable.
wow , this game is so original!
The amount of games I have bought because of you, is embarrassingly large. I hope you are making a decent wage through this, as you deserve it!
Love ya, Splat!
I cannot wait for this game it looks so great
It just feels like so many games that have already been showcased this year, but with some Slay the Spire sprinkled on top.
A new city-builder/tactical ? Of course not, it's yet another rogue deckbuilder.
Really nice artstyle and presentation though.
Another deck-builder? Nawh, I’m good.
This title looks very interesting!
Heavy Warhammer vibes.
MOAR!
This one looks tight
reminded me a ton of Hellcard as soon as I saw where you battle, guessing it's for the zones.
Wow this looks neat
Its another deck builder. Because of course it is.
It seems that You could recycle a certain number of cards per turn. That an intereting mechanic
Keep retrieving reactor rods sounds a little Chernobyl
Thumbs up ofc for your amazing work covering these games, but not my thing.
It's like a weird amalgamation of Sunless Sea, Against the Storm, a and Demon Train. Not a game for me, but neat all the same.
excellent!
I'm amazed by how in ave You are playing this game.
Ok "As We Descend" You've got my attention now
Hey Splat why didn't you show us how to grab the city and rotate it around to look at the back? tsk-tsk. :p

It's like "Fallen London" got talking to "Fallout" and they started experimenting...
9:56 i thought splatercat said 'butter' but it was 'clutter'
I'm with you, don't lile card gsmes but i do this one
City of Ember meets Warhammer Mechanicus ?
Warden of the Wall is a coveted title, granted only to the most worthy of champions who know exactly what the Warden of the Wall is.... Oh no!
live action replay after taco night XDXDXDXDXD
He said , "duty", I have the mind of a 5 year old.
Taco nights! Lol
Maybe it's just me but I dislike it when devs do promotions like this when the game isn't out or seemingly close to being out.
I agree. It’s counter productive if the game isn’t available to buy
They probably saw that tactics from AAA studios and Gacha games so it became a norm that Content creators and journalist had early-early-access.
One advantage is that it's a way to get feedback before things are finalized. If enough of the creators and viewers complain about some quirk or design decision, there's more of a chance to get it revised before the actual release.
You don’t like movie trailers then..?
😂😂@@Tyfyss
mobile game vibes.. still looks allright
This game looks amazing. I'm in.
amazing? if monoply gets you all hot and bothered.. then maybe lol
GG putting strategy and not deckbuilding in the title, you got me clicking

Compelling citizens to their DOOM since they are stuck and cannot reenter the city. pff haha
Im always monitoring my taint
I tired of card base games. But in this they won me by art style and Phoenix Point like system of different body parts destroying.
I look forward to the end of this era of every game being pixel art and/or deckbuilders 🙏
yay another cardgame
🖤
What an unsual and beautiful looking creation this is :)
really battlebrothers is near guarantee? Im use to xcom path where 95% is almost a guarantee miss.
and lost me at card game.
I'm getting Cultist Simulator vibes only without the annoying pretend-it's-real-time nonsense
I will be disappointed if you can't overthrow the rulers
But 72% in XCOM terms is a guaranteed miss
That creature surviving on 1 health and then killing your unit, because you rng all shields at the wrong time...im out. Hate that type of rng shit.
He could've recycled the card for a redraw, standard thing in deck builders nowadays
what type of rng shit do you not hate tho?
Comment for the comment god!
Sup gamers
👍
you get xcom 2'd on your rng lol
Seems like you have bad gut health and bad taste in tacos. Maybe consider something less spicy like toast and butter…. 😂
Splat. You can't be medieval and post-apocalyptic. It's not allowed.
The roman empire would like to object.
The roman empire, frankly, just acquired a lot of holes.
@@ericpigeon6179how is the Roman Empire post-apocalyptic? Or medieval?

Oh boy a card game. Yaaay....
Runner up to Visual novels in the "barely a videogame" category.
One of the last additions to my "don't show" tag list on steam.
I completely agree but one game you should try is inscryption. It's beyond good.
Yeah - great looking, promising setting... but a card game? :(
@@seanaugagnon6383 I wouldn't even call inscryption a card game, it's on a league of its own.
Another one of those.... oh god, please no more.
Card game instantly turns me off
same
its like a fart in the face when goin down on a girl
Cards. I'm out
You lost me at card game.
This game had potential. Has card mechanics, HARD pass.
aaaargh but i really dislike this card game crap. if i wanted to play a board game id play monopoly
Why does it have to be a deck builder? What a waste of a great art style.
Looks linear as heck. Hard pass. Back to Rogue waters for now.
So boring.
