- Watch the 2 ways we use to inlay wood into gold or any other type of ring core. Working with gold is a bit trickier simply because we don't have a lot of it and we don't want to waist any of it! Hopefully this helps you with your ring making and gets you more comfortable working with precious metal bands.

Got tungsten Koa rings in Hawaii for my wife’s and I vow renewal and wanted to see how they were made. Thanks for the video!
Amazing! Congratulations and thank you for watching. 😁
I recently go a koa insert ring from you. It is beautiful! Workmanship is flawless! very happy!
Wow, thank you! I am happy to hear!
@@DreamwoodRings I also got gold tungsten and black ceramic blanks for you. Can you tell me if the gold tungsten is gold throughout, or is it gold coated? Meaning, if I sand the edges, am I going to see silver or will it stay gold? Thanks in advance!
@@hobbycow5346 It is just plated gold. Go to my main channel and go to my shorts. I have a quick 60 second video on the gold tungsten rings you should take a look at.
@@DreamwoodRings Thanks! Though the one gold tungsten ring I made held up well to cutting sanding and polishing. None of the gold plating came off! So they must be a very high quality vs. the gold plated stainless blanks from Amazon. Are you getting size gold 8 and 11’s back in stock soon?
@@hobbycow5346 nice! I should. Check back on Tuesday!
Nice mix!
Glad you like it!
Fascinating, thank you for posting. You probably have more than enough metal-working skill to make ammunition from brass if you felt like it...😆what a cool skill to have!!
Ha thank you! :D
You're good, man!
I appreciate that!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Great explanation. Could you please tell where you did get the gold blank for the bigger ring?
You can try the ring blanks here. shopdreamwood.com/pages/custom-ring-builder
Or you can try and find someone local to cast one for you.
Great video thank you. Where do you buy the parts that goes on the lathe? Thank you.
Thank you! Look for collette chuck and ring mandrels.
Nice
Thank you!
Nice video:) so you don’t have to glue it to the ring or anything?
At 6:46 we use thick CA glue to place the koa wood into the gold.
Sorry don’t know how I missed that!
What lathe chuck are you using in this video? I am trying to get one to hold the outside of the ring as I bore the inside. Thank you!
I am using a nova chuck with soft jaws you can get from our website! The nova chuck is the one around $80
You didn't show the gap where the cut is, is it visible and how much so?
It is not visible, it just lines up to look like wood grain. 😁
How many rings do you sell each year?
That is a hard question to answer because we sell a wide variety of rings and other things. So I could say several thousand, but we do not make every ring we sell. 🤔
Hey man, do you mind suppling the company you got the gold ring with channel?
I got that one from RIo Grande
@@DreamwoodRings I saw they had some like this, but they were out a few days ago when I was pricing.
@@ErvinandMFantasyFootball o dang I've never seen them out of it before, That is sad. It is anywhere between $240-300 I think.
@@DreamwoodRings yeah, an excellent price. They barely charge beyond the material. I only wish they did a 4mm & 8mm version as well.
@@ErvinandMFantasyFootball yeah, that is why I tried the gold tube which worked well, just more expensive. I did save all the gold shavings though at least.
could you link the place you got the channel ring from?
We have a local shop that casts some of them for us.
Would you be able to make one with wood from a very special tree that I can send to you? I sent you an email earlier
Yes I can! I am emailing back now.
Wish I had watched this video before I attended the gold-plated tungsten
Gold plated tungsten is tricky! Definitely need to be safe with it.
