I was Stelena at the beginning, and this is how I became Delena. It was just like them, I suppose. It was something. A feeling. I ignored, or tried, but I just couldn't run from it. The thing that Stelena fans/stans dont get is that Stefan was her epic Love but Damon was true love. Yeah he may have been a terrible and selfish guy but she made him change for the good, SHE made him selfless, SHE was the one to change him. Damon and Elena remind me of Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl. Elena was with Damon's brother at first and Blair was with Chuck's best friend. Both Chuck and Damon were extremely flawed human beings who fell in love with the girl who they thought they could never have. Both pairs also had undeniable chemistry from day one. Both pairs manipulated each other and both pairs were imperfect, but their love grew and their relationship matured. When they finally started dating, both couples were flawed because they did terrible things to each other which eventually drove them apart again. However, Chuck and Damon begin to find who they are without their love one and the characters began to realize that they must become better men, not for the women they love, but for themselves. Elena and Blair also dated other men, but both were never truly happy in their new relationships, even though they may have been less dysfunctional. Yes both relationships were messy, they had lies and break up sex. But, at the end of the day, they were the worst versions of themselves when they didn't have each other. So, both relationships were given a second chance, where they proved how beautiful and amazing they could really be together. Even though both pairs had so many obstacles in their way and the universe always seemed to work against them, but they always found their way back to each other.

I agree. In the beginning I didn’t think I was gonna be a big delena shipper. I thought I was gonna ship stelena and stelena only. But then I started to prefer delena more and more and I think they had a better buildup. She made him a better person (at least around her) and made him show his sensitive side but he also changed her too. When they got together she came out of her shell and was happier but I feel like even before they became a couple she opened up more and came out of her shell around him. Stelena was more of love at first sight but delena had the buildup from enemies to friends to lovers to husband and wife.

Damon, wasn’t always mean to everyone as a human being he was always loving, caring, and compassionate. To me he is still loving, caring, and compassionate even though he is a vampire he just has to learn how to control how he handles his emotions and needs to change his ways. He is a good person just like his brother Stefan but he shows it differently and sometimes we have to accept what is and not try to Change that person and live with that. I love how Elena looked past all the things that Damon has done and learned to love and respect who he is in reality.

That's why Katherine had to compel him and he wanted the cure for Elena. Damon was always driven by love, so it didn't matter. He was fine with both women either way. That's why he didn't see Katherine as a demon or Elena as a problem to be fixed. He saw the woman he fell in love with. That's why he was willing to become a vampire to be with Katherine and take the cure to be with Elena. Stefan's "pure" heart limited him in love. Elena's heart isn't pure like Stefan's. She could love them either way, but in return, only one loved her fully. That's why Damon was willing to turn her, even when she didn't want it. He'd rather she get stuck being a vampire than be dead. Same with Katherine. He'd rather she be stuck in a tomb for 145 years than be dead. The cure arc basically circles around to the tomb arc. It's why Damon's choices played out as they did. Stefan was already a vampire. He then forced Damon to transition. Stefan was already human. He then forced Damon to take the cure. Stefan's selfishness in the past made Damon selfish in current story. That's why they spent the series working on Damon's character, pushing him to sacrifice everything. He had to want to live and die for his brother, not for a woman. "Doesn't it always come down to the love of a woman?" That's why it was "always" Stefan... until it wasn't.

I ship both but they are a lot of times where Stefan really annoys me because he doesn’t let Elena make her own decisions. He makes her choose what HE feels is right not what Elena feels his right. Damon let’s Elena make her own decisions because he hates being forced to do things so he gets it. With Stelena that part is toxic. Stefan also brings his story into her life decisions when she barely has a life story because she’s younger than him. Elena needs to make her own mistakes so she can learn and grow from them. Damon let’s her do that. Again he knows what that feels like. Bottom line of that is that Stefan can be quite controlling sometimes which is unhealthy. I think DE was endgame from the very first episode because you don't spend that much time building up a relationship and having them go through do many obstacles and challenges for it not to be. The thing that Stelena fans/stans dont get is that Stefan was her epic Love but Damon was true love. Yeah he may have been a terrible and selfish guy but she made him change for the good, SHE made him selfless, SHE was the one to change him. Stelena fans keep saying that Damon cares about nothing except Elena, but that’s not true he cared about other people too like Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Alaric, Liz and im sure i’ve missed a few, maybe not as much as Elena but that doesn’t mean he didn’t. If Stefan was her “true” love then why did she fall for Damon, if she and him were true love then she wouldn’t have. Like she said she always somehow finds a way back to Damon. Damon and Elena remind me of Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl. Elena was with Damon's brother at first and Blair was with Chuck's best friend. Both Chuck and Damon were extremely flawed human beings who fell in love with the girl who they thought they could never have. Both pairs also had undeniable chemistry from day one. Both pairs manipulated each other and both pairs were imperfect, but their love grew and their relationship matured. When they finally started dating, both couples were flawed because they did terrible things to each other which eventually drove them apart again. However, Chuck and Damon begin to find who they are without their love one and the characters began to realize that they must become better men, not for the women they love, but for themselves. Elena and Blair also dated other men, but both were never truly happy in their new relationships, even though they may have been less dysfunctional. Yes both relationships were messy, they had lies and break up sex. But, at the end of the day, they were the worst versions of themselves when they didn't have each other. So, both relationships were given a second chance, where they proved how beautiful and amazing they could really be together. Even though both pairs had so many obstacles in their way and the universe always seemed to work against them, but they always found their way back to each other.

I started out with shipping stelena only, but then I saw the love damon looked at her with. It was more than Stefan 's. When he left her with stefan it was slowly killing him more than it did to stefan when situations were reversed. She makes him complete. I agree. In the beginning I didn’t think I was gonna be a big delena shipper. I thought I was gonna ship stelena and stelena only. But then I started to prefer delena more and more and I think they had a better buildup. She made him a better person (at least around her) and made him show his sensitive side but he also changed her too. When they got together she came out of her shell and was happier but I feel like even before they became a couple she opened up more and came out of her shell around him. Stelena was more of love at first sight but delena had the buildup from enemies to friends to lovers to husband and wife.

Damon, wasn’t always mean to everyone as a human being he was always loving, caring, and compassionate. To me he is still loving, caring, and compassionate even though he is a vampire he just has to learn how to control how he handles his emotions and needs to change his ways.
He is a good person just like his brother Stefan but he shows it differently and sometimes we have to accept what is and not try to Change that person and live with that.

Their flashbacks are just as important to the story because they show these characters as they were and as they are. Stefan saw Katherine as a demon just as he saw Elena as a problem to be fixed. That's why Katherine had to compel him and he wanted the cure for Elena. Damon was always driven by love, so it didn't matter. He was fine with both women either way. That's why he didn't see Katherine as a demon or Elena as a problem to be fixed. He saw the woman he fell in love with. That's why he was willing to become a vampire to be with Katherine and take the cure to be with Elena. Stefan's "pure" heart limited him in love. Elena's heart isn't pure like Stefan's. She could love them either way, but in return, only one loved her fully. That's why Damon was willing to turn her, even when she didn't want it. He'd rather she get stuck being a vampire than be dead. Same with Katherine. He'd rather she be stuck in a tomb for 145 years than be dead. The cure arc basically circles around to the tomb arc. It's why Damon's choices played out as they did. Stefan was already a vampire. He then forced Damon to transition. Stefan was already human. He then forced Damon to take the cure. Stefan's selfishness in the past made Damon selfish in current story. That's why they spent the series working on Damon's character, pushing him to sacrifice everything. He had to want to live and die for his brother, not for a woman. "Doesn't it always come down to the love of a woman?" That's why it was "always" Stefan... until it wasn't.

I ship both but they are a lot of times where Stefan really annoys me because he doesn’t let Elena make her own decisions. He makes her choose what HE feels is right not what Elena feels his right. Damon let’s Elena make her own decisions because he hates being forced to do things so he gets it. With Stelena that part is toxic. Stefan also brings his story into her life decisions when she barely has a life story because she’s younger than him. Elena needs to make her own mistakes so she can learn and grow from them. Damon let’s her do that. Again he knows what that feels like. Bottom line of that is that Stefan can be quite controlling sometimes which is unhealthy. Damon let’s her feel free and gets her to make her own decisions. I’m only repeating my words because some Stelena fans don’t see that. I am a Stelena fan a huge one but that is a big problem I have with Stefan. I also love Stefan himself too. Hope everyone really studies that side of Stefan because not letting her make her own decisions is wrong. Very wrong

Elena, saw the good in Damon ever since the beginning even in season 1 episode 13 Children of the damned. Even though Elena, hated Damon she never abandoned him and I knew that Damon was always the good brother.
I know that Stelena shippers don’t like Damon and what he does but he did things to get business done to love, and protect the people he cares about Stefan, Elena, Liz, Rose, Alaric, Bonnie, and others.
Damon, was always a good brother to Stefan he wouldn’t let anything happen to him.
Damon, did promise Stefan an eternity of misery for making him become a vampire when he didn’t want to which I felt bad for Damon at that time and when Katherine said that she never loved Damon and only Stefan I felt really bad for Damon as well while I was watching that scene but I do think that Katherine cared about Stefan and Damon in her own way.
When Elena kissed Damon in this scene it didn’t mean she was betraying Stefan in any way she was always faithful to him even when he loss his humanity she loved him through the good and the bad. Stefan, and Damon both love Elena but in different ways. Stefan, knew that Elena was falling in love with Damon even before season 4 episode 7 My brother’s keeper he realized that she loves Damon.

Damon, and Elena have always had the most beautiful chemistry, understanding, and friendship I have ever seen. Damon, was very closed off from everyone else but when he was with Elena he openly spoke about how Katherine treated him and even though he didn’t trust anyone that easy he trusted Elena and she trusted him. Like Elena said Damon was dangerous but not in a way that it scared her but she felt comfortable being around him. To me delena was always meant to be since the beginning of the vampire diaries season one episode one pilot. She denied that she had feelings for Damon because she didn’t want to hurt Stefan’s feelings but when she became a vampire those feelings magnified.
Rose also told Jeremy in Season 3 episode 19 Heart of darkness Stefan, is different his love is pure he’ll always be good for her Damon, is either the best thing for her or the worst. Rose about Damon, and Elena’s relationship. While she told Alaric to erase her memory of Damon Elena also said that Damon gave her the necklace that resembled her feelings for Stefan I know it hurt him but he did it and in that moment I loved him it was the most selfless he’s ever been.

I think DE was endgame from the very first episode because you don't spend that much time building up a relationship and having them go through do many obstacles and challenges for it not to be. DE met and she didn't like him at first, in 1x02 anyway and then as time went on she saw him in a new light and they bonded and became friends and they had angst and conflicts bit they couldn't cut each other completely out of their life and they developed feelings for each other. she fought those feelings and chose Stefan but she already had fallen for Damon and chose Stefan because she owed it to him after all they time trying to get his humanity back and she was scared bit then she turned and couldn't fight it anymore. her friends don't understand what DE have, they don't see his good at first and they said she changed, well she did it's called growing up! ppl act like her breaking up with Stefan, well actually he broke up with her hut still, made her a bitch, um would you prefer her stay with him if she doesn't love him?! that would be worse. and ppl don't get it, tvd is based on a love triangle which means both ships gotta happen at dome point lol ppl didn't like that she stood up for herself, that she was stronger and no longer a doormat, she bit back and ppl didn't like it lol anyways, I think from the start it was gonna be DE because they had the buildup and the journey, the angst and the conflicts and they actually imagined a future together, Elena saw a future with him while every time Stefan brought it up she didn't wanna talk about it lol DE was meant to be from episode 1. ppl who actually started s8 thinking SE was still gonna get endgame were delusional! and Kevin only said that shit about how if Nina didn't leave they would've been to make SE shippers feel better, they had the perfect opportunity in s6 when Elena lost her memories and only remembered the bad things about Damon but they didn't because SE was over since s3, s4-5 just put the final nail in their coffin.
