Ayrton Senna was driving this McLaren MP4/5B during the 1990 Formula 1 World Championship.

Ayrton wouldn’t have liked the cars being driven like Prius though. Why are the engines always running rough in vintage f1 cars?

even if I hated Hakkinen back then because he was Michael Schumachers rival I’m nowadays really a fan of him and still mourn what happened to Michael on a small damn skiing trip..
Since I’m from Germany I was the greatest Schumi Fan and had all the amazing Ferrari/Marlboro merch!
I met Mika once in Montreal at a party for a team sponsor. Very humble, and nice ordinary guy. Wanted no special treatment. No massive ego. Ron Dennis on the other hand....

It was striking how clean lines, uncluttered, elegant even, the F1 cars of that period were. Great to see and hear them run again.

Few drivers are as fitting to drive Senna's car as Senna's old teammate and 2 time world champion. Hakkinen learned from Senna, raced with Senna, and won for McLaren.
If only it was Senna himself driving his own F1 car.

Amazing how small F1 cars were compared to today. Having the fantastic line up of drivers is icing on the cake. One day will make that trip to see in person.

Naturally aspirated V10. The MP4/4 was a 1.5 V6 turbo. 4/5 and 4/5B were 3.5 n/a V10s
