Hello everyone! The download for my Line 6 Helix / HX Stomp Complete Preset Library with over 50 presets (including the one in this video) has now moved to my website. Use this link - bit.ly/3hkkTCh As of July 2020, there have been over 300 downloads of my preset library. Many have written back and expressed their satisfaction and it’s my hope that you’ll enjoy these presets too. While I was working on cruise ships, I refined each of these presets over the course of countless rehearsals and performances with a live band, not to mention the hours I spent sitting at the front of house desk in the main theater after-hours. These presets have been meticulously tuned to suit professional use and I believe you’ll find that they’re versatile and incredibly reliable across whatever Helix unit and amplification device you decide to use. The Complete Preset Library exists in a Google Drive folder that I am constantly adding new presets to so check back frequently! I appreciate your support and your donation is good for life. I’m looking forward to building this community together and would love to hear from you if you have any questions at all. By going through my website, you're now able to pay with credit card and will receive the preset library instantly. If you’d prefer to use PayPal, just send $15 to www.PayPal.me/AlexanderPriceMusic and make the note “Complete Preset Library” so I know what to send you! This requires me to reply individually by email so please be patient. You may find all of my Helix preset bundles at www.AlexPriceMusician.com/helix
If possible, could you take a whack at Robert Fripp & Adrian Belew's synth sounds on the track "The Sheltering Sky" by King Crimson? Just wondering since they also used the same Roland guitars.
Hi! I understand this video is a year old but I've recently got hold of a Line 6 Helix Lt and was wondering where I could get the Synth o Matic effect from as i can't seem to find it. Great vid btw!
Hi - sorry I had missed your comment. The Synth o Matic block should be in synths and in HX Edit where it says Mono, click on that and change it to Legacy. This is where all of the old Line 6 digital effects are stored.
Haven't tried it yet, but every time I personally attempt to create a synth patch I keep getting a FART sound at the tail end of my lines. Conceptually, I've always loved playing with synth patches. I certainly try it!!! Hopefully, I get patches delivered soon. Included email and request with paypal.
lpgoog For me, a lot of it is learning how to play a bit differently to make the effect work. It’s like learning to play with distortion vs clean - there’s techniques like dampening unused strings, picking style, etc that goes into it. Thank you for the support and let me know how you find everything!
Glad you dug it Eric. Unfortunately the synth block still hasn’t been made polyphonic so I don’t think much will change by switching out the octave effect.
I noticed in this UA-cam "Recreating Pat Metheny's Synth Guitar Tone" - Line 6 Helix that you uses a sound called Synth-O-Matic that is not in the Stomp XL. Is there any update to how to recreate this icon Roland GR300 synth-guitar tone.
no se parece mucho, esta como con mucho ataque, siento que le falta el transiente al inicio y como mas atrumpetado, pero es buen lead sintetizado el que lograste, aunque no se parece al de pat con el synclavier, palabras mayores
@@yzimsx it is the real thing in that it is a unit solely dedicated to these types of sounds whereas the Helix is not solely dedicated to these sounds but can come close. If they ever get polyphonic then it will be as good as the real thing to me as I can’t totally eliminate the multi tone garble that happens should two notes ring together momentarily. That’s the weakness at the moment.
@@AlexVonCrank That's true. I suppose the Helix has quite a lot of processing power, so maybe Line6 can make it handle polyphonic synth sounds in the future. Anyway, the SY-1 is relatively affordable and it can do the Metheny synth lead sound nicely. For amp sims I'm currently happy with the extremely cheap Zoom G1 Four. And separate stomp pedals to go with it. Those who choose Helix go the opposite way - everything in one big box, save the whole sound processing chain as a one-click preset, and no pedal mess.
@@yzimsx I tried that with a synth 9 pedal and the Helix but the tracking was similar on he mono synth. It would not recognise the latest note played but rather try to make two (if notes happen to ring together momentarily) sound like one which results in garble that sounded like digital octave farts. I hope they can get it right but as you say a good pedal in the loop will save processing power so there is a plus to that.

Alex , what Impedance on the headphones do you recommend ?
Great video, loved the snippet you played from, 'Song for Bilbao' at the start
This was so amazingly helpful. This inspired me to create a synth patch that I'm totally going to use at my next gig. THANKS!
Just put out another synth video yesterday if you need one: ua-cam.com/video/ivDHm-MaVbs/v-deo.html
This is great Alex! Thanks for sharing this video. Love the synth tone in your patch.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! I had no idea you could do that with the Helix
Thank you Alex, your video is great and it has helped a lot!
Had a version of this but yours was so much better! Nice PRS BTW! Thanks!
Thanks Eric! Glad you dig it
how very cool is that! great job. keep it up
THanks for helping us out, dude :-)
You should do the tone for Pat Metheny's Last Train Home! :)
Great Man, I loved it. Thanks indeed for sharing!
Nice video and sound:)Cheers Alex
Thanks so much Jorgen!
Definitely the closet’s metheny synth souding patch!
Hey Alex, are you going to do the Kurt Rosenwinkel sound soon?
If possible, could you take a whack at Robert Fripp & Adrian Belew's synth sounds on the track "The Sheltering Sky" by King Crimson? Just wondering since they also used the same Roland guitars.
Love that tune
Great vid!
weily alcequiez thanks so much!
This is great!
Thanks a lot Ian :)
good tone
Hey man love your content, can you do these synth effect on violin, if its possible, please make video of that
Thanks dude
What do you use instead of SYNTH O MATIC in 2020? I mean if you updated your helix it's suppose to be gone.
You should do Rosenwinkel's flute sound next!

Excelent Alex thank you!!! Great video. One question What diameter strings do you use on the PRS? Cheers .

Hi Alex, very good tone :) Is it possible to reproduce the type of pick attack used by Kurt Rosenwinkel when he do his "flute-kind" of sound? Thanks
Not really, because the autoswell in the helix functions with a gate. Im buying s separate ehx sttsck decay for hat sound
Thank you so much for this! Any change to get a new take on this sound now that we got the polyphonic one?

It's there. You need to look in the Legacy folder.
Great video Alex :) The description says that the preset is free, but I'm having trouble finding it. Could you be of assistance? best wishes
Hi Alex! wich program are you using? Is it the Helix software?
Yep - HX Edit
What’s the name of that tune by Pat?
Song for Bilboa
Thanks, Pat played that tune Saturday night in Dallas. Great concert 🎶 !
I've sent you donation but no link to your 20 presets has been sent to my email???
Hi Sebastian - I've just sent you an email. PayPal requires me to respond to each request individually so it's not automatic.
@@AlexPriceMusician Yes. I've received your email with patches. Thanks 😉👌👍
That’s how you do a tutorial!!!
Great video! I'm going to try this one out. Where did you film this?
In my lonely, cramped musician cabin. I'm working with Cunard cruise line at the moment. You'll probably see a few videos from here
@@AlexPriceMusician Ah, well you're out there doing it! Better than most of us can say. Enjoy!
is it polyphonic?
Sadly, no. This is a limitation of the current Helix synth sounds. I did mention that at some point in the video I think.
Does this work in native
Yep!
Will this work with HX Effects?
Yes! HX Effects is only lacking amp/cab blocks so since this preset does not use them, you’ll be golden.
@@AlexPriceMusician Thanks very much for the speedy reply!
@@stevesmith5434 Hey Steve, did it work? Not on mine :(
Alex, i didnt receive the preset of stomp. I put my e-mail on Paypal ...
Velhos Novos hey man - I searched for your name on PayPal but nothing came up. Send me a message on Facebook

Not the worst I've ever heard, but the Boss SY-1 gets you there all the way.
Dude he’s working with a helix to mimic it. To say the real thing is... the real thing... is pointless.
@@AlexVonCrank I didn't say such things. Boss SY-1 is not the real thing either.
