    Nice setup. Minimalist is better for sure. Glad to see that pump, that is one of the mos important pieces of gear. If i forget mine I will drive home and get it before I go out. Never had to wash myself out though 😆 lol.

    Very nice vid. Im running pretty much all the same stuff except for rod of choice on my scupper. But watching all the vids of the peddle yaks it looks like you have a lot more control of the fight. And i like the point you made on having the rod eyes face up to avoid damage. I never thought of that since i use all ugly tigers lol. Their all stainless eyes so they just get beat up 🤣

      To be honest. Once I have a fish on I stop peddling. Most of the time I take the pedal drive out. So I don’t think there is much difference between hand peddle vs foot.
      For me it is age. haha.

    Thanks for describing all that you use. So you like the short jig rods for leverage fighting fish and for ease when landing fish? You forgot to mention your motor assist!

      Yeah, these rods can handle. It was funny the day I made that video I didn’t have my motor. I’ll do a separate one on that :-)

      @@fishingadventureshawaii Ah, I've been coming down in rod length and am about to use some 7ft Phenix Black Diamond rods on the yak. Unfortunately they don't make a shorter rod in the 40lb class. I've liked longer rods since I'm paddling and used to troll from the front but now have switched to trolling behind me.

      @@sharaguchi1 for me, I like them around 6' or 6'6. I'm 6' and being able to easily hold one end and untangle the wrap around the tip of the rod (that happens way to often) is huge for me :)

      @@fishingadventureshawaii That's great to know. I'm 5'8" and my 7'6" rod is a stretch if I ever have to reach the tip.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. May I ask what types of flys color/size hook do you use to catch opelu? is there any difference with what you use for catch goggle eyes?

      @fishingadventureshawaii  3 місяці тому

      I use size 10 Maruto MZ gold hooks with a red bead on 15lb fluoro. I generally use gold flake and firecracker bloodworm lures. I use the exact same setup for Opelu and Akule.

    Any advice for finding a kayak with rod holders or building your own? Always wanted to get into it,

    • @fishingadventureshawaii

      I think it is what best fits your style.
      I had intended to build a pvc rod holder system on my outback, however I got use to what was available on the kayak itself.
      I have some rail mount holders for the rods NOT in use and I use the hobie rod holder extender for the molded in holders and it works great.
      I like having access to my bag (that is behind me) and a pvc rod holder system would most likely block that access.
      Plus I like playing “musical chairs” with my rods while fighting a fish if I am running two lines.
      I know that is a lot of words above, but the best answer I can give you is you gotta find what works for you.

    what length is your bait tubes and how much opelu can you fit inside without dying

    • @fishingadventureshawaii
      @fishingadventureshawaii  3 місяці тому

      2ft.
      Depending on the size of the opelu, I keep roughly around 7 in the tube
