    I'm a surf fisherman living in Brownsville TX and taking my time to really learn my kayak. It is my first kayak, an F&S Eagle Talon 12T, planning to start taking it to the South Padre Island Bay and eventually take it offshore and do some more serious fishing on it. Best video I've seen so far to get prepared for offshore kayak fishing.

      Lima Charlie Fishing really glad you liked it! It’s not the only kayak that is seaworthy but it’s our favorite by far

    Guys, congratulations on the explanatory video, and the equipment you use, and for the information on safety and rescue. I'm from Brazil and I fish from Kayak on the Brazilian coast, in the southeast region of the state of Sao Paulo.

    Props on safety. Had a chance to use and get to know my Native Titan 12 as well as break the factory handle. Fortunately the upgraded billet aluminum on came in and I was able to install it before spending a week in Venice Florida and of course going off shore. Definitely learned from your video, some of the safety and gear tips I had already done, even if some of it was just dumb luck.

    Great video man! Everything is well laid out and you guys are safety first which is most important. It cost money but how much is your life worth to you? I see so many new kayaking guys not serious about safety until something bad happens.

    Just my experience, but the kill bag on the nose of the yak (where I ran mine for about a year or two) adversely affects the handling once you get some weight in it (like 20 to 30lbs ice and some decent fish). One trip with a couple 10lb yellowfin and a 25lb wahoo plus ice the handling in waves was awful. Really awful. I have a kill bag in the back now and have noticed a positive difference in the steering and maybe more importantly, effort required to navigate yucky weather as well (less front end plowing waves). To be fair, I also had a 13lb battery and battery box under the front hatch for some of this further compounding the weight placed in the bow. Just throwing that experience out there for consideration.

    Super informative video. Do you ever modify change the OT seat for a lower one when going far offshore when chop is forecast. I ask because the seat position is quite high on predator/bigwater models. Or do you get used to balancing with the existing seat and ride bigger waves ok? I was thinking that occasionally swapping out the seat for a much lower one might be safer on dodgy days?

    Hope you realize the potential disasters that would, otherwise, occur if you held back on this video. Sound wisdom, gents! These are factors everyone needs to consider. Great video! Super cut-loose ending!

    Great info. What size is the fish bag? Or what the largest size that can be used on the predator? I recently ordered a Predator but its back-ordered and that gives me time to shop for other items needed. Finally getting myself back on the water after a little over a year without a kayak.

    very informative question- 1) where do you store water/food..just the tips ;)

    • @RDOutdoors
      @RDOutdoors  4 роки тому

      Minnow Man Fishing me and rob usually go out with minimal water and food to be honest. I’m usually known for a donut or two and maybe some jerky or a sandwhich would be nice. Sometimes I’ll store that in the back of the seat or if it really needs to be cold in the fish cooler - Denes

    • @michaelwilson1419
      @michaelwilson1419 4 роки тому

      I like using a soft cooler. They are made to withstand the environments and are leak proof. Plus they hold ice for an entire day on the water when it’s hot.

      Bryan Hiura yes absolutely, the wide trak cart from Malone is what we use for the beach it’s excellent

    Hey guys I just purchased a nue canoe frontier 12 I purchased this kayak because they’re supposed to be really stable and a 2.5 mercury motor I no used to boats or kayaks try the kayak with the motor yesterday and I don’t feel too safe i’m afraid the motor is to heavy

    • @RDOutdoors
      @RDOutdoors  4 роки тому

      Might not be the best option to go offshore unless is really flat. I've seen nucanoes out there and they're in fact really stable. Did you try it out yet? Are you trying to take it offshore?

    • @sergiobedon1
      @sergiobedon1 4 роки тому

      R&D Outdoors I tried with a friend with out the motor it was OK and then when I pull the motor I have to ask him to sit in the other side and I was a little better but I still something don’t feel right maybe it’s just me. I just wish I know somebody that has experience on this

    • @RDOutdoors
      @RDOutdoors  4 роки тому

      @@sergiobedon1 I understand that's tough. I have seen people with 2.5 outboards in other vessels and they do great. Is the Nucanoe rated for that size? Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it? I have not been on one of those so I couldnt tell you much about them to be honest.

    You noted how important it is to have a life jacket and to wear it all the time. But your insert video of you guys fishing around the grass shows neither of you wearing one. Hmmmm. Still a great video. Thanks.
