- After striking out 2 weeks in a row trying to get live bait, I decided to bring a backup plan in the form of some 80lb deep drop rigs and some ono belly to target some delicious bottom fish in depths ranging from 500-700 feet. Managed to find some action and land my first "Deep 7" species before some monster destroyed my only rig...

Thanks! Just crazy for fishing lol 🎣😂 For me, the striker 4 maxes out around 600-700 feet and won't read fish past 350.

Thanks was nice to get on some fish finally! I'm not a huge fan of the taste of the meat of this fish so I prefer to let them go if they're healthy.

Loved the deep dropping/deep jigging into unchartered waters for deep sea monsters, something I always wanted to do myself. Now I'm inspired, just gotta figure out a spot on Oahu that's not too far from shore. Let us know how the hapu'upu'u tasted!
Definitely been on the to-do list for a while now. Flyingfishtv caught all kinds of stuff over there out deep so hope you can find some spots 🤙
I've noticed when putting bait on a jig you call in the sharks with the meat just slowly falling down
Yeah that makes sense. I haven't tried bait on the jig since this time for that reason lol.

Thanks and yeah no complaints here! I got the revo mainly because it's what was available on Craigslist. However, I will say I love that it's light enough to cartop and carry around solo even without kayak wheels and moves very efficiently. The main downside to me is the low weight capacity of 350 lbs.

How much were you planning on paying someone to take you out? A lot of guys go on the Hawaii kayak fishing group and ask us to take them out and do hours of work prepping, planning, loading, cleaning, and accommodating and then get butt hurt we want to be compensated for our time. Not saying that’s you, but if you post that you’re willing to pay $200 for the excursion I guarantee someone will invite you in the time frame you want.
What kind of bulb are you using on that bottom rig?

Yeah the tax payments are real when jigging deep! I think I can fix the bent one at least.
Brah, it ain't easy to rip assist hooks off and bend a jig like that so you know had to be something serious that ate the initial fish you were fighting.
Oh yeah my money's on a fat shark lol
