    I misuse mine a lot and it works great. I straighten with it. I use it as a press. It's a very handy tool. I have made several dies so I don't screw up the pipe dies. It is mounted to an engine stand horizontal. Thank you for sharing.

    Fill thin pipe with sand to bend . It helps when you get both pin and roller in the same hole on both sides . 3 and 3 instead of 3 and 2 . Harbor Freight is a great place for the hobbyist to buy tools . Don't expect a Mercedes for the price of a Yugo and you'll be very pleased .

    Good trick to do to keep the pipe from kinking is fill it with sand completely full cap both ends off the sand will take the hollow space up and keep the pipe from kinking in the bending process

      @@AntonioClaudioMichael I don't think you are stupid.... but honestly, how many times have you done that in your life ? filling it with sand....I bet you have never done it, or You might have done it once or seen someone.....Its not common practice and it is a mess to deal with sand, especially in a metal shop....the hassel outweighs any purpose it may or may not bring. Just my two cents, no disrespect.

      I have a friend who has made many pre runner bumpers with that type of a bender. It is made to bend pipe not tubing. If you want to bend tubing with it, it has to be 120 wall tubing or DOM. Anything thinner, if you don’t till the tube with sand and water, you will kink the tube and not get a smooth bend.

    I mounted mine on an engine stand as I saw in a another video and did the clamp over the top of the die really made a big difference. If you been schedule 40 pipe then slice it down the side and use it as a spacer for a thinner wall pipe like exhaust pipe the crushing or kinking won't happen. ABG

  • @albertbray2785
    @albertbray2785 2 роки тому +4

    Some things to improve this bender: FIRST, mark the center of all dies. Use a hack saw to permanently etch the top of the die. Mark the center of your bend on the pipe. I like to LIGHTLY etch the pipe all around with a pipe cutter. SECOND,, measure the horizontal distance from the center of the ram, to the rollers on each side. (Mine was off by 3/8") It is important to getting symmetrical bends, that the jack is centered. I had to install the jack on a separate 1/4" plate so I could move it over. The holes in the base of the jack were such that I could not elongate then to make up the distance. THIRD, I have been bending 1/2" pipe, and making 90 degree "U" type bends, with the centers 16" apart. On the second bend the short leg would hit the base and kink the pipe on the top of the "U" because it would push against the roller. My solution was to cut out the base, up to the plate holding the jack. That meant removing about 2 1/2" inches from each side. I then reinforced the base by welding 1" square bar to the underside of the base, on each side, under the vertical supports to the top section. FORTH, the jack works best when vertical. So, I made a stand. It is similar to a pipe vice stand and holds the bender 5 feet above the floor. The height is optional depending on the LENGTH of the legs you install. Bending 10 foot pipe near the center, the height of 5 feet puts the bending rollers at 78" and keeps my pipe from contacting the floor. Even on my second bend. OPTIONAL, I painted one end of my bender and one end of each bending die ( on each side) white. I did that to help orient the pipe and keep the ends sticking out the same side as I'm trying to make everything symmetrical.

  • @uwebuehrle6381
    @uwebuehrle6381 6 років тому +1

    if you put a spring in the pipe that you later can pull easy out , or if you fill the exhaust pipe with wet sand and compact it well , and close the pipe ends real good so the wet sand cannot get out , you can bent thin wall pipes without kinking

      On a go cart its called a brush guard manufacturers of go-karts never really call their frames over the top of the go-karts roll bars because they make it out of very very light worthless Steel And it usually gets bent or crushed so they call it a brush guard to cover their asses. Unfortunately people automatically think it's a roll cage and that it will keep them safer it'll help somewhat. I have made many roll bars 4 go karts replacing the brush guards

      Look in the electrical section at Lowes and Home Depot. Electricians often need to bend a lot of thin wall electrical conduit. The tubing benders come in various sizes and usually have a handle that is about 4 feet long. The last time I looked, the prices were in the $40 @ range for each size.

      You could bend more then 90 but I don't know how good it would be Thank you for the comment.

    GRIND A knotch and get yourself a no dogg level .also lay the bender on its side .much much simpler and level the bender and then each end of your pipe so your bends will be straight

    Top rollers are too close together and uneven. At least we all learn the anomalies of the tool when looking back at the process for the first time in use.

    How in the world did this guy not notice one of his roller pins were off a hole?
    He is starring right at it.

    That thing is a pile for thin wall tube. I bought one and all it did was fold the tube. I ended up building a tube bender like the JD squared and bought JD squared dies. Right tool for the right job for my case. Wouldn’t buy one again.

    As everyone else has noticed as I do too you roller location is in the wrong location.Having the die being stuck is a good thing because it doesn’t allow the pipe to kink.I hate to badger you,BUT YOU SHOULD FIND OUT HOW TO USE IT AND WHAT HAPPENS TO EACH POSITION WHEN YOU DO!!!!!! Also buy yourself a degree dial,there cheap and easy to use.

    You really think watching a video on a harbor freight took is worth forcing me to watch two commercials? Finding another video

    Ughh.... I made it to 4 minutes and couldn’t take it anymore. Too many repeats and extraneous details. Concise is key; not only does it demonstrate knowledge and preparation, it also shows respect for the viewers time. Don’t apologize, don’t explain reasons you put the camera in certain situations, and don’t use the word “you” so often. Tell your audience why “I” the professional do it this way. When you say you its like you are telling me what to do. I want to hear about a persons experience and things they learned using the device. I will decide if I want to utilize your advice based on my situation and end goals. Anyway... its not all bad though. You seem like you have a big kind heart. I just didnt want to leave a comment without offering some idea to what made me not able to utilize your video. Hope you have a good one!

    He needs to watch a video on pipe bending instead of making one.
