C'était une urgence - Racing against Coronavirus in Rome

- You’ve seen the original 1970s movie, racing through Paris at dawn, which nearly landed the director in jail. So we asked ourselves: when better during our lifetimes to repeat the feat than now, with empty streets, to raise money for charity and help COVID victims? And which more beautiful city to race through than Rome? Here it is: please give something to the Italian Red Cross and spare a thought for your friends behind bars!

A big THANK YOU to everybody that has donated so far. Please share the donation link with your friends. www.gofundme.com/f/kidston-for-croce-rossa-italiana
Much better than what Ferrari released today, NOW THIS IS A PROPER HOMAGE! I'll donate and share so others can too!
Thank You SO much!
A gorgeous tribute with a heart. Well done to you all, Simon and the Kidston team!
OMG. Just discovered this. Sounds like a Giulia 1300/1600 ti. WHAT a sound!
BRAVO! Takes me right back to Rendevous
Oh, God! My heart was up around my throat watching this terrific video! What will Simon and crew think of next?! I will donate to the Croce Rossa Italiana organization after I watch the video a few more times. Unbelievable!
THAT WAS...... ....JUST..... ....AWESOME!
lovely driving, great sound and a very nice touch at the end. great job Simon & Co. and I hope the Rome police and carabs have a sense of, what? lets say humor... keep on doing what you are doing
A brilliant idea for a great cause! I love the little details - right down to the missed gearshifts and badly-synched revs.
Just fabulous!
(as all of your films)
Somebody should do it.
"Rendez-vous"...in Rome (2020).
Was it on the Giulia Estate police car?!
gran bella iniziativa, complimenti !!
Génial, bravo !!!
Merci beaucouop!
This was awesome!!
And I thought my Mille Miglia drives through Rome were frantic.
Nicely done - Bravo!
Thank you Rob!
La grande bellezza a tutta velocitá. Forza Italia!
Sempre
Incredible rendezvous 😉
Excelente!
C'était perfection.
Jeez, balls out through Rome! Would be mission impossible without Corona... might try it in Geneva tonight.... perhaps....
Don't try this at home
Grande!
Very very cool ! Maybe a bit less adventurous than the original version, but surely great !
Great!!!
Brilliant
Love it !!! 😀
Very nice indeed. Any chance of a link to the Paris film, I haven't see that in such a long time?
Non ci sono storie, come suona il Bialbero non suona nessuno. Video spettacolare, mi sono iscritto al vostro canale.
Wonderful. Paris is great, but nothing come close to Rome. Except Venice for sure, but then you'd need a motorboat
I recognized some locations from "The Italian job" right?
*Awesome take! TX!*
Same country - that’s about it. Rome / Turin…..
Semplicemente sublime, Roma immersa nelle prime luci del giorno, che location! Questo sì che lo farei di tour turistico per la mia città! Rimane solo un dubbio... che mezzo scegliere?
Grazie grazie
Forza Kidston
great
che musica!!!
What was it filmed with?
Ah Yes Rendezvous in Italian! Love it!
UH-MAY-ZING!! 😱😍
I think I recognize the location in that last shot...didn't they drive down those steps in *SPECTRE*?
Simon, it would have sounded better if you borrowed my 365 GT4 2+2. But well done.
No words, I can't believe the initial text but no doubts about it's true
You should post the story behind this. What car was it? Who was the driver?
I’d settle for just the car
La 250 di Spadafora?🖤
The headlights stay too flat to be a motorcycle!! And it has a weird shadow off to the right. Looks like a big camera rig shadow.
What automobile was used?
An ambulance...
It's not an end-to-end drive. I've driven some of these roads, and walked others. There are three different segments, in three different parts of the city, tied together. The transitions are at about 1:54 and 3:54. The first segment is coming in from the south on Via Celio Vibenna, going around the Colosseum, then doing a U-turn and starting back out the same road. The second segment starts somewhere northwest of the Colosseum and goes through Piazza Venezia to the Altar of the fatherland, then turns southeast towards the Colosseum. I can't place the third one. The engine sound is continuous to hide the transitions. Don't get me wrong - I love it - but it's not a Roman "Rendezvous".
What you are saying is mostly obvious to everybody, although you are wrong as there are 2 cuts . The uncut video is 9 minutes long (with no stops), we decided to shorten it to allow more people to see the whole clip. We would release the uncut version if there is appetite.
Bring on the uncut version Kidson!
Still the only worthy homage to Claude and his 6.9!
Nuts
Good idea but it was not shot continuously. There is an edit splice at the 3:53 mark.
There's another at 1:54. There are three segments in this film.
The film was shot continuously and was 9min long in total. We decided to cut it down to 5, if there appetite for the uncut version, we will release it
@@KidstonProductions You need to ask? Please release the 9 min uncut version!
Too bad it doesn't have the real sound track.
(It is so obvious when the car is endlessly up shifting even when it isn't accelerating.)
The original soundtrack was obviously added later as well... But thank you for the comment
i think about SPECTRE
What was the car?
@@antimoderosa79 Forse ALFA ROMEO giulia
@@sfenodonte you think it's a Giulia ?
Maybe police car Ferrari 250 Gte 2+2.
Sure is an Alfa Romeo engine, probably a four in line Bialbero with open air box.
Guidava Maurizio Merli?
How many gears does this car have? 😂
Carabinieri Alfa?
I think Lucas is right. I vote for a 1970s AR Giulia 1300 Super
Comunque …….sempre fantastici…….
Grazie!!
Rendezvous in Roma meets Fuck the Police in Sweden (911). How wicked 👍😁
yes, this is how we used to drive before all the nonsense police and radar became a habit. In Austria there the analogue radar devices only could clock you up to 200 km/h. Guess, what was supposed to be minimum velocitas on the highways? I miss the times...profusionalist speaking.
fake sound
Is it?
@@KidstonProductions it is not synchronized and the driver shifts more times than a truck driver
Yes! Like "C'était un Rendez-Vous" de Claude Lelouch
