I mean, €4000 for a €400 watch is theft in broad daylight, especially with all those QC issues. Tudor doesn’t remotely get close to delivering on their price tags. If I spent €4000 on a watch with manufacturing issues with a movement shared with Chanel fashion watches, I’d feel cheated.

The 58 is so well made and perfectly proportioned for a sports watch. It borrows from classic Tudors and Rolex without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is it’s own thing. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle offers a pop of color paying homage to the Rolex Big Crown, the chunky coin edge crown is so satisfying to wind with a refined matching coin edge bezel and I love the snow flake seconds hand. Owned my BB58 OG black for 3 years and it is one of my fav watches in my collection.

I have both the Blue and Black versions and agree 100% about the wearability if the case. I recently added Steel Reef extension links to the bracelet and that solved my problem with 'on-the-fly' adjustments. How I wish Rolex would offer the Submariner in this perfect size as an option.

I got into the 58 craze with the 925 and, as Tudor had no boutiques in Switzerland at the time, I travelled to Rome to get the Bronze for my 30th. A couple of years and a bunch more watches later their value dropped as the craze went and availability came, but they still hold a special place in my collection and in my heart, could not agree more with the conclusion.

I still think the blue on the BB58 is one of the most attractive.
No watch is absolutely perfect. And, I don't think Tudor is rubbish. However, as a whole kind of over-hyped these days, still. Almost a given common recommendation for a high quality Swiss dive watch for around $3-4k. But, I suppose for good reason. They have solid offerings in two of their most popular model lines, the BB's and Pelagos, that do and offer what they do very well and for reasonable price.
I know I was very happy with my BB58 Bronze.
Definitely, buy what you like and enjoy your watches.

Long-term reflections from knowledgeable collectors are actually about the most valuable and regrettably quite rare. In the fast moving world of watch releases, especially among microbrands and the many limited runs or preorder phases, there barely is any time for reflection. For me, it would be great to see more of this, including the microbrands. Which ones are keepers and why? How do they stack up against the barrage of new releases? How much joy do they give within a diverse collection or against the pressure of renewing or trying something else? This Tudor, as I understand it, is already a member of a longer lineage of related models. In that sense it might have previously proven its worth. Except for the frequent reference to the acronym BB58 I'm delightfully unaware of the hype or what it consists of. This and actually most Tudor watches that I see come by, just do very little to excite me or connect with me. I find this generally applies to Rolex tool watches too. Perhaps it is because they stay so close to the cocktail of elements that made the brands famous and then many others started following, so it just doesn't grab me among the crowd, or where this series is concerned, because ultimately I'm not that into dive watches unless they become quite dressy and elegant and possibly a tad quirky, in other words a very untoolish dive watch. Yet, I can appreciate how refined and honed the crafting of this watch is, and for those with that preference, i can imagine it serves them very well indeed. Excellent accuracy is just not something I particularly seek or expect from a mechanical watch (price dependent). I just don't expect it to be off by a full minute after five days' wear. That's why I do appreciate some regulation or slightly higher grade movements than the most basic automatics, but find it hard to justify paying much more for the marginal gains thereafter.

Since then, I’ve played volleyball with it, went swimming with it, I’ve handled oscillating saws with it, I use it in the gym, etc etc etc. I take it to the hospital and basically everywhere, is still ticking perfectly and it’s still extremely accurate. Not a single scratch on the cristal, no real flex on the bracelet. A true sports watch. Had a time thinking between bb chrono which is also looks great and a hard to get by that time but there's something in the 58 that draws me back to it. I just thought that if I ever buy the chrono chances are I'm going to get the 58 sooner or later so I saved myself some money for maybe a while (hopefully). I think for me looking simple makes it perfect for most use and I like that it doesn't get too much attention as well.

I also have many watches that are highly coveted and many multiples of value.
The BB58s value to me, the quality, the looks, it hits far above its weight for wrist time.

Owned it for 4 years, went through highs and lows with it perception wise.... but really I never get disappointed everytime I wear it. Only 1 thing I dislike is the square-ish clasp blade end. Call me snobby but I have really gotten used to the rounded and flush ones with modern Rolex.

I really like the snowflake hands on the Tudors'. That creates extra real estate for the lume material to reside in, as well helping them jump off the dial and be easier to pick up, in my opinion. I am looking to get into my first one, and cannot decide yet between the Pelagos, Black Bay Pro, or the Ranger, even though it has different hands.

Ive got the s and g version in 41mm and its so accurate. Its also grown on me more over time. As you know Peter I love the sla043 as much as you do , but I wish that had came with a bracelet. Considering both watches cost about the same new in the uk, I feel the tudor is probably better value. That said the 043 just makes me smile every time I look at her , so the seiko takes it for me . But the bb is better value overall. Its a hard life , with all these 1st World problems !!! Lol.

Love that watch. It’s one that I haven’t pulled the trigger on yet. So tempting. Your friend’s comments about Tudor being “rubbish”-are the types of snobbish comments that make me want to exit the hobby all together and not wear a watch at all. Those that think “If it’s not Rolex, it’s not worthy”🙄Too many people are in the hobby for status signaling one upping others. It’s a shame. I agree with you-Always wear what you like. Beautiful BB58 you have there.

I think the hype about watches kill the pleasure of the hobby. You make bad decisions based upon the opinions of the so called experts. Then you are frustrated because that expert sold the watch that seemed to be so good, and you still have yours…
It’s a total nonsense. Let’s go for non hyped watches!! 😂😂😂
    Thanks for the video

    Hello @Peter Kosta, from Portugal!
Opposite side of the Old World 😊
Nice to see your thoughts about Tudor almost bought the Blue version you have went to big Boy Pelagos LHD love it by the way that steel bracelet I’ve got on your BB it looks like same design maybe Aquaterra models😊
In my experience have watch’s since kid ( not billionaire) always like Rolex submariner 2000€ at 80’s was huge amount of cash on those years all that said do like Tudor a lot ! Very good watch for the price point but since January they already increased prices 😳 my last watch December was the Tudor Pro such wait and go for a chronograph S&G but out stock anyway hopefully Tudor makes a smaller chronograph it’s way to big even my Pelagos but as it’s a such Pro Monster diver it’s amazing some people don’t like the roulette date or the left hand crown don’t care about it it keeps awesome time same as my GMT Pepsi and the BB Burgundy ( my opinion the best ever combo ever made by Tudor)
The Ranger have covered it by a Sinn 556 A I amazing watch for less than a Tudor and very well made
Always go mad when see those awesome Artem bracelets sailclothare they soft or stiff ? I’m almost want buy one black or dark blue it will cost price of an OEM Tudor bracelet hybrid still waiting….
Congrats for sharing your opinion on this beautiful pieces by Tudor!
Hopefully they will make a nice smaller chronograph 😉 mate cheers from Portugal

Hi Peter, fantastic video! Love the daylight shots because you can really see the beautiful details. One question. Would you recommend me to get the Tudor BB41 Burgundy METAS, Tudor BB54 or Tudor BB58 Blue? I have 6,25 inch wrists. Really love the new T-fit and tougher looking bezel and crown on the 54 and 41 compared to the 58. I currently wear the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M and love the on the fly adjustment in the clasp. Thanks!
