      Nate Matthews I just started shaving my head and I purchased the head blade pro shaver which I think is great so far. I noticed from watching your videos that you use different shavers,so you should try that 1 and see how you like it.

    Im a brotha, I’m not naturally bald, just thinning in the front. I wet shave my head daily against the grain using a braun 7 series, and I shave my neck line with the grain using a safety razor. My neck line is sensitive which is why I shave with the grain, and use a safety razor. The braun 7 series keeps my head baby smooth, even when rubbing my scalp against the grain it’s smooth. I use a few drops of shave secret and mix it with taylor of old bond street street shaving cream. Once finished, I use tend skin, aloe vera, and finish it off with dove for sensitive skin. I have zero bumps or irritation using those products. I prefer to shave daily as I’m very particular about my look.

    • @NateMatthews
      @NateMatthews  6 років тому +2

      Ima do my research on those brauns. Ive seen numerous ppl mention the 7 & 9 series. Just reading that you use a safety razor under your neck scared me lols I feel the bumps already. Ive only tried that once in my life & said never again ahah I love the shave secret though! Sounds like you have a perfect routine going for yourself.

    I've shaved my head on and off for a few years and one thing I've never mastered is shaving with a black shirt on. Almost all UA-camrs wear a shirt while they're shaving their head. I don't think I've ever worn a shirt shaving, my head or otherwise. Good video.

    During winter I use a handheld head shaver for a close buzz cut kind of feel so my beanies have something to hold onto like Velcro because I work outside so wind and movement makes the beanie slide around which gets really annoying to adjust. During mid spring to early fall I shave my head every other night so if I shaved my head Sunday night I’d shave again Tuesday night
    Edit: as for my beard personally I don’t do anything to it other than use an oil and beard butter other than that I just wash it every 3 days with pine tar soap.

This shit grows faster than my face. I can shave my face and be smooth for two days. Thanks for the video. Or for a quick shave under the shower it's a Gillette blue 2 and some coconut oil conditiner and finish with the Headblade Matte. My skin is ultra sensitive so shave maybe twice a week .Your beard looks magnificent btw . Mine is like an old bit of wire wool out the back of a plumbers van !

    I use a Merkur 38C about every 2-3 days, with the grain. Nothing like having a fresh baldy. I started getting a receding hairline in my mid 20s. So I would buzz-cut it for years. Finally in my early 30s, I decided to just let it all go and I’m happy with that.
    I noticed you go over the same spots a few times. My head would look like a war zone like that haha. I just do 3-4 passes overall and I break my head up into sections (top, side, side, back). And in each section, I break that into maybe 6 shaving parts - if that makes any sense.

    • @NateMatthews
      @NateMatthews  6 років тому +1

      Same here. The feeling of a fresh shaved head with a razor doesn't compare to that of a trimmer. I shave in strokes! Short passes as I move along to the next spot; makes it alot easier vs scrapping harder & nicking myself. After two passes I'm good to go 👌🏽

    HELPP!! I am a 20 year old who has been shaving my head bald for over a year with some wahl clippers against the grain. I wanted a closer result so I switched to a razor and had major bumps and razor burns! I personally use the Skull Shaver Gold to shave my head bald & loved the result! The only issue I had is that when I used it on my neckline and lower, it caused bumps and ingrown hairs on the backside of my ear area. I previously used a gillette fusion razor on my head and experienced irritation on my neckline and below! Currently in the process of finding a solution that will give me the close shave of a razor without the irritation and ingrown hair dark spots. I've been using Dare to be Bald with Tea Tree Oil to subside the itchy feeling. ANY TIPS?! Also need suggestions to keep my head shiny and smooth!

    I used the Phillips 9000 series electric shaver for a while but it took too long because I needed to go back over and do so many touch ups.
    After this I used a safety razor just like you're doing now. It was great.
    I used the Merkur Futur. I love this adjustable razor.
    The only bad thing was I found that I was irritating my scalp too much but that was from me shaving every day. I still use the Futur on my face as I'm not growing a beard and it is a beast.
    After all of this I bought the Braun series 9 foil shaver. This thing is amazing! It cuts so fast it's unbelievable.
    Honestly Nate, what you're shaving in this video could take 2 minutes with the Braun. And that's including going back for touch ups.
    Yes the machine is pricey but I shave my head everyday, sometimes wet, sometimes dry and so far it is the most useful tool I have ever bought for shaving my head. I'm happy with what I paid because I use it every single day.
    Peace.

    • @mohawk1623
      @mohawk1623 6 років тому

      Torryx Yeah bro try going slow. Be firm so you have good contact but don't push hard. Then just do some passes slow and precise like mowing the lawn.
      Also make sure your hair is short enough to start with. If it's too long it won't cut properly. You'll need clippers first.
      Are you using it on your face or head?

    • @MrCrazyGuy24

    • @mohawk1623
      @mohawk1623 6 років тому +1

      Torryx Ok yeah I had the same issue so you may get bumps from the foil shaver but I suggest sticking with it for a little while. You have to give your skin a chance to adapt to the new hardware. Make sure you use sensitive skin products. Try wet shave and dry shave. Dry shave is probably best for now if your skin is still angry from the safety razor.

    I’m a white young man with really dark and thick hair on the sides (balding on top) and what is really annoying with my skin and hair color is that it is impossible to get rid of that hair shadow. Even after a fresh shave against the grain, you can still tell that I’m balding.

Lol I definitely get your reasons for shaving asap I’m starting to lose hair slightly in the corners of my hairline and vaguely in the crown, I know I have a full head of hair now but I know aim losing it so I’m balding graciously by shaving it off now so in 5 years you don’t really notice.

    I have many safety razors. The Parker Variant is INCREDIBLE. Also the Bevel safety razor is another great one. Tampa Shave company the Fat Shorty is a Bevel knock off that's also sweet and their Blacked Out Razor is sweet like bear meat.

    I just got the Viking Chieftian razor but man I don’t know. I’m new to wet shaving my head and face and found this razor a little aggressive. Good shave but I felt it. Tried it twice and thinking of returning it. Also tried the Merkur 34c and the Parker slant. The Parker was more aggressive then the chief I thought and is going back. My favorite so far is the “art of shaving”. Mild but close shave and doesn’t irritate me. I’m confident with this one.

    After threatening to do it for a couple of years, I finally shaved my head Friday a week ago (10 Apr 2020) late at night. I shaved it again on Monday night (three days later) and again on Friday night (17 Apr 2020, four days). I shave with the grain while I'm in the shower. Since I'm a novice, I take my time; it's taking about 20 minutes from start (wash, exfoliate, shave, rinse) to finish. Once I'm finished, I use a spray witch hazel (my wife found it) to calm my skin, towel that off, and follow up with a moisturizing after shave balm.
    It seems like I start seeing growth about ten minutes after I finish shaving but it's actually the next day. While I really like the feel of a fresh shave, I don't think I can stand daily shaves. I think I'll start going to three times a week (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights) on the same days I shave and shape my beard.
    Thanks for the guide.

    Just was told yesterday shaving my head once a week is good. Especially cause I got a new set of clippers . To maintain that baldness . The clippers i have are actually good . Cause they don’t leave razor bumps . Which is good .

    I have the same pattern baldness as you.... I shave between 2 days/5days and I just wear a hat when I don't feel like cutting...… my father who passed away use to shave with the old fashion single blade razor every single day... and his head use to look like mister clean with no bumps... he was an expert and he would get every single piece of hair...…. he use to wear his head bald since the 1970s when it was not that popular...…. man he use to be as clean as the bd of health.....I use harry's blade which are really good for me. and braun electric...…. and tblade andis….. I highly recommend head slick shaving cream by headblade..... the best....

      Yeah. Those are used for different things though. DTBB is for your skin (after shaving), & the oil I make is for my beard (keeps from drying up/breaking off).

    What's good bro. Love the channel. Very informative. I've dealt with going bald at young age (23) myself. I'm 38 now. Took me awhile to accept it. Been shaving my scalp on my own since I've gone bald. Really wanted to know what products are good to keep the scalp moisturized and not become dry.

    Im 28 abd have a full head of hair, no balding or receding at all but I shaved my head for the first time when COVID started and I havent looked back since. I shave with a razor similar to you and I no longer shave against the grain because that was causing razor bumps which looked fucking terrible.
    Ill shave my head every other other day, just to give my scalp a chance to heal. If I could without irritation, I would shave every single day but the skin on my scalp is sensitive.
