Harry I've been with you from the beginning, and it's hard to believe that it's already been 3 years but I'll always be thankful that I found this channel because without you I may not have had the courage to shave the old head. And 3 years later I'm still enjoying the ride
Been shaving my head with a razor for over a year now. Your channel really schooled me to the game. I appreciate it greatly. From product reviews to techniques. It has been very helpful.
My head shave routine is: 1. Use an electric rotary shaver to get as close as possible BEFORE I use a blade of any description 2. Apply plenty of hot water, then use a pre shave facial wash on my head (the same one I use for my face) 3. Rinse with more hot water. 4. Lather up with a decent shave cream and brush and take one section at a time (sides first, than the back, then the crown area and the top is done last. 5. Rinse again with hot water. 6. Check if I've missed anything, repeat shave where required. 7. Rinse with cold water to close the pores. 8. Pat dry with a clean towel. 9. Apply moisturiser all over and work it in. 10. Look awesome all day. The other tips I can give are... - TAKE YOUR TIME - you're not shearing a bloody sheep, enjoy the process. - Use a fresh blade as soon as is necessary. Cuts and pulls come from a dull blade. - Preparation of your head in advance makes for a better, closer shave. Like....way better! - Don't use a shitty mass market shave gel/foam (as per the video) Basic rule of thumb - if you've bought it in a supermarket it's probably crap. It's not hard to find quality stuff that doesn't cost the earth. - Don't skip the moisturiser afterwards. - If you're STILL cutting yourself, spend more time prepping your head. Hope this helps...
Not everybody has the time of day to shave. People have busy lives and can often not be in the mood or have the energy to shave in the first place after a long day, or in the early morning when tired. And I’m speaking from experience. I’ve been shaving twice a week and it’s a BLOODY TIRING PROCESS!! At one point I gave it up because of how time consuming it is! I even have 2 moles on my head which cannot be removed, making the shaving process extremely stressful in case I cut the moles. Balding has literally been the worst thing that’s happened so early in my life, at 22! It just sucks man.
Best trick I've found: Use cold water to cool your scalp after shaving. Helps to close the pores and stop any bleeding from cuts or nicks. Great vid as always.
Thnx for sharing you're experiences in you're video's. I didn't had so much trouble with insecurity about baldness, but more the way of how to get a clean nice shave without irritation. I'm using the leafshave and the twig for some time now and i'm very happy with it. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work...
Dude, your channel helped me take the leap and shave my head completely. I’d been increasingly conscious about my hair line / thinning, and after watching some of your videos it helped me see the positive side of seizing control of the situation and just going for it…..that was 2 weeks ago and I already feel like a completely different person…for the better!!! More focus, less stress, better mood, and as a result a more attentive father and a better husband. Keep up the good work, you’re helping to change lives 👍👍👍
I recently started shaving my head. The Leaf Razor works like a charm! I use a Shaving Foam, but I have to reapply it in the back as it dries quickly. Will switch out to a shaving butter after I go thru this bottle. Thanks for the tips!
Great video, Harry. Been using conditioner for a while. Works great for me. (My 19 y/o son with hair halfway down his back and I use the same conditioner. Who would have thought?) So enjoy your tips. Stay well.
I’ve been shaving my head for 12 years now and the 2 most important tips I can give is....(1) Always shave in the shower and (2) Wait 2-3 days in between shaves. If I shave my head on Sunday, I won’t shave it again till Tuesday or Wednesday. I get a MUCH better shave as the hair will be nice a soft. The stubble is way too dense(for me) to shave every day. Crazy skin irritation! Also, I’ve never heard of shaving with hair conditioner, but I’ll be trying that out tomorrow!
I can't stress enough how important that you go slow when shaving. (head, face, whatever) Not only does it reduce the chance of getting cut, but it's also MUCH better for your skin. Another good tip for shaving close that I've found, is to shave with the direction of your hair growth first, and then against the direction. Also, if your shaving mirror is fogging up in the shower, try wetting it first, then applying just a little soap to it (not enough to cause a film obviously, and if it does, just rinse it a little) be sure to rinse all the soap off before leaving so you don't get a build up. Great video!
101% spot on 👌 Shaving gel is by far the worst with foam right behind it. I found shaving soap to be the best and with a nice thick lather, there's zero razor bumps & burns.
You vidoes have given me motivation to Walk around confidently with a razor shaved head ,been watching your channel awhile and you give the best advice I appreciate your channel and the advice you give 😎
I shave my head with safety razor against the grain, and I dont get a single cut. There are many tips, but the most important one I can give: DO NOT PRESS HARD, LET THE RAZOR WEIGHT DO THE JOB
+1 for the conditioner. I had pretty decent success with Cremo for a while, but I've been using conditioner since the first time I tried it about half a year ago. I don't think it's a magical solution by any means (you still need a good razor/blades/technique), but most of the cut/irritation-free shaves I've experienced were done with conditioner.
I find using a tea tree conditioner instead of shaving foams and creams makes a big difference. Also, to avoid shaver bumps, shave with the grain and not against it. You don't need to shave that close, as the next day there's already prickly hair again. Instead, just go for the shaved look with the grain, which you can actually do more often without, as I said, shaver bumps, but also far less skin irritation. Just my 2 cents. 😁
The prep and taking your time are the biggest things. Also sharp blades. Another thing like you said temporarily leave the world behind and concentrate/enjoy the shave.
I am 56 I learn to wet shave the hard way. No one was around to teach me the proper way. Thanks hair loss I started shaving my head going on 20 years. I rediscovered the double edge razor. No, not those cheaply made butterfly razors my dad used. I found some wonderfully made razors from Italy and UK. There is a unlimited brands of blades. While I good shaves on my face I cannot do my head. I would us a pivot disposal for that which is not good for the environment.. I used a tube cream applied with a 💈 brush. I learned quite a bit watching this video! That white submarine sweater you wore at one point is smashing! 👍🏻
Thanks for this. Already doing most of these tips already. But before I did a razor shave I went to a dermatologists because I had several moles that would get in the way of shaving. Recommend getting a mole check anyway but while you are at it get moles removed if they are at risk of getting nicked.
That beardstache thing you've got going on looks really good! If you don't have a beard you can probably get away with not using a mirror when shaving in the shower at all. I usually leave the parts around the sideburns and do these outside of the shower.
Glad you were able to vouch for the anti fog mirrors. I went to buy one a few months ago on Amazon but the reviews said they suck. I'll pick up the one in the video.
Most of it is in the prep I've found..i use a beard conditioner on my head while I'm in the shower let it sit then a light scrub..hot towel and a good preshave 😎..and definitely with the grain the 1st pass or 2
All these are great points, and I'm glad this channel exists for so many guys out there who could use the wisdom, and help. Here's a couple things I personally recommend to anyone willing to read this. 1. I would urge caution to NOT.. OVER stretch the skin, as that can promote in grown hairs. Just stretch enough to flatten the skin. 2. This one is more preference, but in my years of shaving the dome(since spring of 2007) I've found an artisanal shave soap is truly one of the best lubricating products anyone can use. Great for the skin, and the level of glide and protection is incredible. 3. If you have anything over 36 hours of growth, consider making the first pass with the grain. Rinse, re-lather, than go against the grain. The first pass with the grain is very easy to plow through the initial stubble, making subsequent passes more effortless by comparison.
As you can see in my profile pic, I shave my head. I'm only 22 but balding as long as 18. 2 months in and I'm much more confident with myself. I EVEN GOT A GF SINCE I FUCKING STARTED SHAVING, SO DO IT AND BE FREE OF LIMITATIONS! Thank you for what you doing with your videos, brother. Brilliant. Got a bad cut earlier, I have a scar on the back of my head from an accident as a kid and it's raised slightly in that area and often nick it there, earlier it was bleeding so bad, I felt the blade really dig in, horrible!
Im a woman so Im not sure what Im doing here 😂, but Im really binge watching your videos these days lol. Just wanted to tell you that it is really great what you are doing and I think you are a good masculine role model for all the young guys out there (and not only those balding!) Men in my family are going through balding as well, they dont say it but I can see that it was hard for them to accept it.
A little over two hours ago I saw an online article that linked one of this channel's videos and have been here binge watching ever since; I'm really enjoying the content! I've rocked a shaved head for many years and it has become like my superpower; I feel much more confident without hair than with!
I found that have a warm shower to soften the hair and then use a bit of aloe vera and while that is still on go on top with a shaving gel and it glides so well!
Ironically, a great hack for stopping your mirror from fogging is to buff it with shaving cream (the foam variety.) Saves money on the anti-fog mirror and gives a second life to those cheap shaving creams when folks inevitably switch over to a quality shaving cream.
""be present when you shave that zone"" in general one always should be present in any grooming or cosmetic activity. It detatches you from reality and makes you happy. Stay present (in general) but this is one of the times when you actually notice the value of being present :) P.S no hippie cliche stuff, just facts yo! Oh, I forgot to mention that I actually bought that razor because of your videos, and I actually managed to cut myself (I bought the Astra Platinum blades) so that guided me to that video :D
I never cut myself with the 5 blade cartridges. So problem solved. Edit: also I've used super market foam/gel for a way long time and I barely ever cut myself. The only difference with shaving soaps is the overall experience.
Did you allready do a review on the hair conditioner? I'm still on the search for a good cream/ foam/ conditioner for the least amount of irritation for my sensitive skin. I love you reviews! You got me to buy the leaf razor!
4 years too late but as a Warhammer/Lego/Everything you can build with your hands guy. There are these latex finger tips you can buy which stops fingerprints on your black models. These are a game changer as they are also anti slip even with shaving soap on the area you are holding. Happy Shaving brothers BTW they're like 10 bucks for a pack of 100
My hitlist for a great headshave; I use Gillette razors with HeadSlick cream. Propermale's head shave towel work well too, especially to prevent nicks & irritation.
First of all thank you for this channel. I shaved my head months ago and haven't looked back yet :) Thank you for the tips as always. I have an unfortunate problem with acne on my scalp though, at age 27 :/ which makes using blades a problem. A tip for guys who also have this problem: stop touching your head! It seems super "well duh." But seriously it changed the game for my head acne. I went from having 15-30+ pimples on my scalp to less than 5-10 in just a few weeks, just from refusing to touch my scalp anymore. Stay beautiful bald kings 🤴
I'm on the cusp of shaving it all off! 48 and slowly losing the hair. Rocking the buzz cut but it's creeping into the back of my mind and affecting my confidence. Time is coming soon...
I’m a head shaver before I start shaving I use tea tree conditioner I just rub a layer all over and let it sit for a while wash it off and go on with the shaving soap lavender Taylor of old bond street is insane
Anyone used the feather artist ss to shave their head and any thoughts on this? Considering purchasing either the feather or the leaf, feather is more versatile and can be used to line up beard however Leaf looks safer and easier for the head.
Use conditioner instead of shaving cream. Its good for the skin, and eliminates razor burn and irritation. Its actually even more effective than shaving cream.
If you put shaving foam on your mirror and then wipe it off, it won't steam up from the shower. I use the cheapest shaving foam for the mirror like lidls cien.
Ok so I'm not at the point of needing to shave my head yet, but the time will very likely come in the next few years... Problem is, I've got some pretty bad scalp cysts that I need to get removed. However, the NHS wait is long and I can't afford to get it done privately. Anyone else in this position?
I have been head shaving for around a year now and never cut my self. I watch this video did a head shave and cut my self about 5 times 😂 I’m blaming the Gillette blades in my leaf 🤔
If you have any raised warts or moles just get them removed. When I was a teen I had a flattop, and the back of my neck had 6 or 7 raised brown moles, and it was not uncommon for them to get knocked by the clippers and bleed. They were numb, so I never felt it but I had them removed and the problem was resolved. Also they were ugly and could have turned cancerous, so don't be a Cindy Crawford by convincing yourself that they are some sort of virtue. Get them cut off or frozen off with liquid nitrogen. I already have a list of moles and warts I'm getting removed the next time I see the dermatologist.
Avoid getting cuts to the skin by using a MILD razor. I have tried a medium aggressive razor and was cut a small number of times; but the mild razor gave me cuts far far more rarely. (Talking of using the double edge razors here).
a clogging razor can lead to a cut to the skin. How? Razor clogs as you go through your shave. You try rinsing but clog is stubborn and will not release, and you still go ahead trying to shave; the strokes work poorly so you try to overcompensate. and then suddenly you cut yourself. If you're headshaving with double edge razor and razor gets stubborn clogs not rinsing out well, then TAKE OUT the blade, remove the clog, put razor and head back together, and then continue the shave. Remove such clogs as often as necessary.
Been shaving my head for YEARS. never have I pulled my skin tight. Use pre shave, proper soap and a decent knife. I always shave against the grain also. Cuts are extremely rare on me.
Definatly going to try using hair conditioner and also holding my skin in place with one hand as I shave, tried shaving my head a few times but cut myself every time and was left feeling sore as had to go over and over the same spot, just never found the right technique for my head. Been have a 0 all over since I stopped but would love to have a clean shaved head. Another issue is that after one day I already can feel hair on my head, grows so quickly but will try again.
Yo Harry, just out of curiosity would you ever get your hair follicles lazered off to get rid of the horseshoe shadow? Also, the moustache looks great on your man.
Thanks for the tips! Any tips for shaving around scars? I’ve a raised scar on my head and stretching doesn’t work. Just did my first head shave today and got a couple of cuts….
My Series 9 just broke (after 4 months, so much about german quality) and for as long as it's in for repair I'll have to deal with razors.. Really not a fan to be honest. No problems on the head, but as for the facial hair, especially on the jawline, it's just super irritating to my skin and takes forever since I have to be so careful.
Shaving with a razor during a hot shower applying some cheap shaving cream does the job for me. Yes the steam gets annoying... Yes I probably should get a fogless mirror.
I'm 23 and I've been thinning for a few years at the hairline however otherwise have a nearly full head of hair. I've always had a big forehead so everyone says they don't notice it but i've considered going bald anyways. Not really worried about doing it, but just thought i'd ask for opinions on whether or not I should do it while I still have hair
Using hair conditioner rather than standard shaving cream was a game changer for me. Blades glide so well, less after irritation and no more cuts.
Great video by the way 👍

A little over two hours ago I saw an online article that linked one of this channel's videos and have been here binge watching ever since; I'm really enjoying the content! I've rocked a shaved head for many years and it has become like my superpower; I feel much more confident without hair than with!
Shave, sweetheart.
@@RandalfElVikingo nah I love my locks
@@junomcgaff3479 I'm not talking about your head ;) Just joking
I found that have a warm shower to soften the hair and then use a bit of aloe vera and while that is still on go on top with a shaving gel and it glides so well!
Thanks for the video 😊
Where can I find the mirror that you're using?
I use palmers coconut conditioner to shave. The extra coconut oil in it helps out too I think 🥥
Using a tallow based shaving soap will give you really good lubrication/slickness
Thanks for the tip! 👍
I never cut myself with the 5 blade cartridges. So problem solved. Edit: also I've used super market foam/gel for a way long time and I barely ever cut myself. The only difference with shaving soaps is the overall experience.
Same. I use shaving cream that prevents razor bumps and they actually work! Haven't had another come up while shaving yet!
I recommend the Phillip's one blade if you don't mid replacing the blades constantly, its the closest shave I have ever had.
Happy Shaving brothers
BTW they're like 10 bucks for a pack of 100
Solid tip 👌
This video was a game changer for me
Thank you man
Happy to help
My hitlist for a great headshave; I use Gillette razors with HeadSlick cream. Propermale's head shave towel work well too, especially to prevent nicks & irritation.
First of all thank you for this channel. I shaved my head months ago and haven't looked back yet :)
Thank you for the tips as always.
That rug hoovering analogy 😂😂😭
hoover analogy is great
I am 13 years old but i shaved my head because i wanted to an you made this more easy ,also i am from Romania , thanks! 🤗
Harry my man, that is your optimal beard length! Looking sharp!
Great video my friend! I shave and give myself a shape-up and get small cut myself quite often.
Feeling the new facial hair
I use the Gillette barbershop fresh shave foam and thankfully it doesn't allow for any cuts
Find what works and enjoy 👏
I'm on the cusp of shaving it all off! 48 and slowly losing the hair. Rocking the buzz cut but it's creeping into the back of my mind and affecting my confidence. Time is coming soon...
thank you! great work!
I’m a head shaver before I start shaving I use tea tree conditioner I just rub a layer all over and let it sit for a while wash it off and go on with the shaving soap lavender Taylor of old bond street is insane
I think this beard style suits you best. Btw I didn't shave yet but I can say you gave great tips here
Thank you, sir! Love the song on the outro :D:D
Anyone used the feather artist ss to shave their head and any thoughts on this? Considering purchasing either the feather or the leaf, feather is more versatile and can be used to line up beard however Leaf looks safer and easier for the head.
This was so enjoyable. 😀
Use conditioner instead of shaving cream. Its good for the skin, and eliminates razor burn and irritation. Its actually even more effective than shaving cream.
Example with carpet in floor was amazing 🤣🤣
Anyway another one good video 💪
😆 thank you. I thought it was a pretty accurate analogy
If you put shaving foam on your mirror and then wipe it off, it won't steam up from the shower. I use the cheapest shaving foam for the mirror like lidls cien.
Nice video sir.
Ok so I'm not at the point of needing to shave my head yet, but the time will very likely come in the next few years...
Problem is, I've got some pretty bad scalp cysts that I need to get removed. However, the NHS wait is long and I can't afford to get it done privately. Anyone else in this position?
My gf had those removed a while ago here in the US. Not fun. Hope that gets taken care of soon. I hear the UK health system is worse than ours.
small or tiny bumps are tough problems and are easily cut. Fortunately many of us have few of them. Milder razor helpful.
Best for shaving always will be a Shaving soap or cream, like Tabac, Cella, etc using it with shave brush and bowl, best of all.
Hey Harry, what are some good Shaving cream and butter products?
Conditioner is your best friend with a sharp razor.
what shave cream/butter do you recommend?
My best tip is to never use a Headblade. I used it once and got about 3 gashes I felt and about a dozen that I didn't feel.
I'm a black African male, got terrible rashes when i used a razor (maybe it's my coarse hair texture). I now only do a buzzcut weekly
Good suggestions!
Coconut oil on the head and then shaving cream using a brush. Been shaving my head this way for 11 years. Effortless.
Love coconut oil
@@Baldcafe awesome channel! Great info for all of us "baldies" and wanna be "baldies" 😄🥂
Shaving with a razor during a hot shower applying some cheap shaving cream does the job for me. Yes the steam gets annoying... Yes I probably should get a fogless mirror.
They work nicely man but hey if it aint broke! 👍
Great video. Many thanks! 🙂
I feel like the time to do it is when the current hair situation is causing you significant negative effects
Wow how they get it your razor?
I got knicked in the danger zone last week smh. That t2 razor got me good loll
