Congratulations you're doing a great job and I know your channel will be a huge success. Been here throughout your journey and it's a pleasure my friend. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
So this song live from Oakland Collesium in 1977 is crazy energy and a fantastic performance. Tuesdays Gone, Simple Man and Sweet home Alabama are bangers by Lynyrd Skynyrd . BTW this was played at every party I went to 😂 Peace out ✌️ ☮️
I am jealous that you got to hear this for the first time. The tempo switch hits so hard and not many bands can pull of a solo this long and keep the attention of most listeners.
@StaxReacts skynyrd is a deep rabbit hole...the plane crash killed Ronnie van Zant (singer) Steve Gaines (one of the 3 guitarist) and Cassie Gaines (one of the "honketts" back up singers and Steve's sister). Completely changed the band...they were no more as they had been. There are several documentaries about it...but maybe just for your own time if you're interested.
11:37 “I did really good not pausing it.” Sounds like an award-reception speech. 🌟😁 You did great, Stax. Florida gets teased for our “Florida Men,” but these Jacksonville fellas make NE Florida proud. 😊
This is one of the most famous rock songs ever. Lynyrd Skynyrd has a deep, deep catalogue. Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Back My Bullets, Gimme Three Steps..it goes on and on. Their genre is called Southern Rock. Them and The Allman Brothers are the most famous Southern Rock bands, but there are others.
@@thestonedgeek8928 CCR being categorized as Southern Rock is kind of controversial, lol. Maybe it's like a sub category, lots of people like to call it swamp rock, something like that, like it sounds like it's from the bayou (which they reference, of course). They're a California band with some Southern influences and they made their own version of it. They have a whole different thing going on from The Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd (even the Black Crowes in the 90s).
@@jenniferfoster1692 thanks, but I already knew all of that. The genre they played was Southern Rock, point blank. It doesn't matter where they where from. And no, their sound is not too far off from Allman Brothers or Skynard considering they where all in the same genre.
There's a reason its a long-running joke that people request Free Bird at ANY concert!! 😂 Great reaction and im glad you didn't pause too much. To me, its one of those songs where you don't pause it at all in order to get the full effect.
Yeah the real sad fact about the performance in Oakland 1977 is that it was literally just a few months before the tragic plane accident that claimed the lives of half the band including the lead singer.
Loved your reaction to this great song! Please do listen to and react to this same song when they played in in 1977 in Oakland and in 1976 in Knebworth, England. Allen Collins (mostly the lead guitarist) is just such an icon that you just can't look away from him!
@@StaxReacts It's my pleasure Stax, I'm just pleased to have discovered your channel. On a side note, my oldest subscription on YT is with Tarl Warwick, who goes by Styxhexenhammer, more commonly known as Styx. So now I'll be watching Styx and Stax. Peace Out.
Very true. The crazy thing is it’s all Alan Collins on this album version. He’s the only one playing the fast solo work. During the live performance they turned it into three guitars trading off.
I love your sincerity listening to a song you honestly don’t vibe with!! Fake it till you make it honey!!! This was my high school grad song!! Thank you, regardless!
Now you're in my neck of the woods these boys are from Jacksonville Florida about 40 minutes from me. Southern Rock God's 🙌 and one of the greatest songs ever written. Truly a Southern anthem.

This ist only one example why ROCK music genre ist still, und will remain das most loved und popular music genre by extreme majority of Earth's population. You need to watch the Knebworth England Freebird version, it's been recorded in the history of LS as the Best "LIVE" version!! It's longer than Oakland but not as quality video though and check out how LS PISSED THE ROLLING STONES OFF !!Saw them TWICE😢😍🐐🔥🎸!!
You should have watched his live concert for this song you would have enjoyed it and could have seen the thousands of people that were there you would be surprised..love Lynyrd Skynyrd Try the song simple man from Lynyrd Skynyrd you will like it too
The reaction was great. The solo after the tempo change was Allen Collins creation when he was 18 years old. Lynyrd Skynyrds was out of Jacksonville, Florida. Southern rock is the genre, and in my opinion, they are the gold standard of it. Plenty you will like by these guys. Sweet Home Alabama Gimme Back My Bullets Simple Man Saturday Night Special Call Me The Breeze These are all great songs. Congrats on 13.3k, and Thanks for the Reaction.
That smell is a great song as well. It’s a true story about the guitarist Gary Rossington. And Alan Collins I believe it’s mainly about Gary. Think it’s one of the first anti-drug songs it’s ever been put out.
My Grandpa was from the South and was a young adult during the Great Depression. It was hard on everyone but i t was particularly brutal in the South. Guys went everywhere and looked for work, many rode the rails as hobos and traveled with the CCC building parks and other infrastructure. Many of those guys like Grandpa after they went thru that could never settle down and would go out 'ramblin' and gamblin'. Sometimes he'd be gone 6 weeks or more and Grandma could barely make ends meet. It basically became a cultural thing and I have no doubt that's what he's talking about in Freebird.
Classic southern rock with two lead guitars. As good as this was the live performance in Oakland is much better. The concert was just before the Ronnie Van Zant and two other band members were killed in a plane crash. In that performance the song is much more refined and longer. It also has the long piano solo by a member that used to be just a roadie until they heard him play. The guitar solo is much longer as well. And despite it being live the recording quality is much cleaner than the studio as well. 🤠🐂
CRASH! Probably their most famous track however 'Simple Man' is definitely on par with this, actually better in my opinion. Nice one Stax machine ❤🇬🇧❤❤(do the audio version)
