1:45 The amount of trust Marty had to have at this moment was intense. If the cord wasn't connected, he would have crashed into the theater, dying instantly. He was bracing for the impact but also hoping Doc would pull it off in time.
@@napsbrickrailways2290 It's actually not the mayor. It's two different actors and it's meant to be two different characters. Red Thomas the mayor looks like he's at least in his 40s in 1955. Red the Bum in 1985 actually looks younger than Red Thomas the mayor, so they're not the same person. I thought they were too, but it turns out, they're two different characters.
One of the best gags in films will always be the car doesn't start until the driver slams the wheel screaming '"come on, START!" and the car springs to life 😂
People talk shit about the DeLorean, when it rammed into a building at 130 km/hr and came out without a scratch to itself or to the driver. Best car ever!
Its funny, in movies normally when the time says "one minute" to something it normally takes like three minutes or something... This is backwards... between the ticking of 10:03 to 10:04 it takes 50 seconds to achieve everything Doc did... the magic of editing amirite? Also, just noticed that Docs hands actually have a little bit of smoke in them... Nice detail...
Funfact: If Marty had hit the gas when the timer rang he would've been too early at the construction site, which means that doc must have miscalculated the distance
It's an interesting thought. If the Delorean didn't refuse to start, Marty would've been too quick off the line and AHEAD of the lightning and passed the line before it would take the electricity.
I remember watching this movie latenight on tv 📺 in 1991(for the 1st time) and my home electricity knocked out exactly the moment delorean teleported. 😳 ⚡️🚘⚡️
marty was so lucky. if he missed the lightning bolt, he would have crashed into the building at 88 mph and would have died. but since he caught the lightning bolt and went back to the future, he ended up....crashing into the building at 88 mph and lived????????
There is test footage on YT showing what happens to a Delorean when it hits something at 40 mph. It basically compresses in on itself like an accordian....So the answer is, no he wouldn't have lived. Kind of chilling actually.
@Power106Fan If he wanted a "in-movie" answer, I would maybe have said that. But I also wanted to factually answer it too, in case they wanted a real-world answer . Nothing wrong with trying to answer someone's question if they are legit curious.
When I was a kid, I can remember my heart just racing at this part, so desperately hoping that Marty would return home. I still enjoy the film, but unfortunately my adult brain just keeps thinking about how impossible it would be to sync a lightning strike the way Doc does.
3:07 He’s gone back 10 minutes, back to his original timeline, where he didn’t go back. His mum is an alcoholic and his dad is an idiot and then you see the ripple effects happening slowly“ Single Pine” the Doctor is dead and then you see the entire alternate timeline rippling in. Shouldn’t there be three Martin McFly? First Martin McFly, before the ripple effect. Second McFly, who experienced the new alternate timeline. Third McFly “The original” who went forwards into time, travelling back to his original timeline.
The median duration of a lightning 'flash' (which is made of many individual strokes/flashes) is around half a second, giving the climactic, just-in-time connection a nice layer of plausibility.
Did someone notice, that Doc Brown actually miscalculated the whole thing? Marty took-off quite a while later then the clock told him to do cause the ignition wouldnt work at first
Has anyone else every noticed the weird sound at 2:24? The best way I can describe it is like a "crash, zzzip." I first heard it years ago on the Blu-Ray. Been trying to figure out what the hell it could possibly be ever since then. But I've never seen anyone else point it out.
My memory is shaky, so I may be just not telling the truth here, but I BELIEVE both BTTF 1 and 2 were filmed basically at the same time, kinda like the Lord of the Rings, that sound you're hearing is Marty from BTTF2 arriving in 1955 just moments after his past self went back to 1985, the sound being the Delorian opening it's door. Again I may be misremembering things but I'm pretty damn sure that the first movie had references to the next one, because of how BTTF 2 goes back to the exact same scenes from the first movie.
Everyone needs a friend like Doc Brown
Great Scott
One of the most entertaining movies ever made.
Fr! They so good
It’s a classic
Agreed
I agree, because for me, it challenges the theory of the ripple effect.
1:59 I love the way the electricity lingers on the cables so cool
yeah, nice CGI for 1985
For me, this will always be the most iconic moment in the entire trilogy. I mean it shown in all 3 movies.
It’s the science that bugs me.
@@JackBrown-p6i the problem is you're not thinking fourth dimensionally, in Back to the Future, the science is.......heavy.
Literally a PERFECT scene!
I miss the 80's and early 90's really bad.
Amazing how Doc has a bolt of lightning go through his body and he’s completely fine
God this scene gives me chills
Try the theories of time it’s creating. Gives me chills.

He wouldn't have died cuz he crashed into it in 1985
@@ThePikachuGaming3978he wouldn't have time travelee if doc didnt fix the cables or the calculations were off
@@Magst3r1 I know that but no matter what he was going to crash into the theatre and in 1985 he survived crashing into it
Gives me chills when I watch this
I always loved how Marty knew the name of the town drunk
The town drunk was the mayor that was trying to get re-elected in 1955.
Edit: grammar

Doc cheering in awe is just a phenomenal moment.

And facing the opposite direction without moving.
It's a car made out of steel. Going into a weak wall like that especially a American wall won't do shit
It’s built like a brick. Also accelerates like one too. More than a minute to go from 0 to 88? Geez!
My favorite characters that Christopher Lloyd has played in his career are Doctor Emmett Brown and Uncle Fester

If I had to guess, Doc's Riding down the wire must have slightly sped the Clock's mechanism for it to be 10 seconds faster.
Shortening time.
Marty's reaction when he's reaching 88mph and notices the doc still fighting with the wire 🤣
Trying to watch this on Tuesday, Nov 5, so Marty goes back to 1985 at exactly 10:04 in real time
neva getting tired of this movie

0:04 Me when my DeLorean doesn't start and I'm late for work:
God when Doc runs down the street and yells in triumph. So great
Intense shifting/pedal stomping is intense.
And done a thousand times better and more suspenseful than any Fast and furious movie ever made.
@@Dr.Ticklebum69 yes
What if the car goes 5 seconds faster, it would have missed the lightning?
You mean it if intercepted the cable five seconds sooner? That is correct.
Then marty would of been screwed!!
I always thought if it went faster, then it would accidentally go deeper into the movie theater. XD
It's an interesting thought. If the Delorean didn't refuse to start, Marty would've been too quick off the line and AHEAD of the lightning and passed the line before it would take the electricity.
I mean, electricity can pass through air at very high voltages so it's possible that he'd of been fine.
このシーンは何回も何回も見たけどハラハラするよね🎵
Magnificent scene to see on that film
Marty: The drunk looks great he said lol!!! The drunk; "crazy drunk drivers" lol love the irony!! 😂🤣

One of the first places Marty looks to, to know he's back in his time, is the freakin' prono theater lmao

Great Scott! Must've been a temporal displacement wave, generated by the 1.21 Gigawatts needed to power the delorian.

There was a lot of suspension of disbelief with these movies but hey, it’s a comedy adventure.
Wow, movies about time travel require suspension of disbelief? Who da thunk?

His name is Red The Bum not Fred
3:12: if you listen carefully, for a split second you can hear the crash sound from looney tunes
Exquisite editing.
