Hey Lowell, question of my life now, does the Lumix S5 focus bracketing work with Sigma MC 21 adapter? I want to use the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Lens with the S5 but I was told it will disable the focus bracketing. But focus bracketing would be a must have for me. Could you please check it?

This video is perfect I’m a Nikon d7000 user but really want to upgrade to full frame and also get more into video, I was looking at the S5, the only thing really holding me back from deciding on it was that lumix lenses for full frame can get really pricey so this video was really helpful
I love my S5. I use the adapter with the Tamron 70-200f4 EF glass and it just works like magic. AF is slow but i ain't doing high speed stuff anyways.
I absolutely love my S5, the first 4k video test I did blew me away. Super happy with it. I was a canon fanboy for years but decided to sell it all. Still have the nifty 50 sitting on myself looking at me.

@@LowellProductions I'm using a lot of Canon FD and EF and also some Sigma EF lenses with the adapter. I also have several other adapters for different brands of vintage lenses. I also have L lenses from both Sigma and Panasonic. So what I use depends on the project.
That’s been my exact drawback with the S5. I’m still going to get it but coming from the GH5 and GH4 I have canon EF glass so this is definitely a must for me

Yeah when i got this adapter, the very first thing i did was slap the nifty-fifty on that i got with my T2i way way back in the day and it just brought an immediate smile to my face, i just love that silly little lens. i also put on the Meike 35mm T2.1 cine prime on the S5 and was floored over the image. The Meike is my prime lens for my BMPCC 6k G2, which is just the perfect lens for that camera but yeah, the FF Meike on a FF camera, yep, it just works, really well!
David, I love hearing that you are rocking the nifty-fifty. Also hearing that you love the Meike is awesome. I have been looking towards buying a Meike FF lens but still haven't made the plunge, but hearing that you were blown away really gets me close to hitting the purchase button. Definitely recommend checking out the Fotodiox ND adapter for EF to L. 2-8 stops ND. It is a huge time saver if you're only using EF glass. It does have a very slight color shift, but it's barely noticeable, and you could always color match and have it as a preset when matching to the mc-21. 😀

i have the sigma 8-16 , an amazing lens for shooting super super wide, but no way to put filter in front :( I whish i knew about that adapter before I bought the MC21 !!
@@mcronfpv8736 I have used it for the same purpose! But I read recently that Meike is coming out with an L mount Drop In adapter which would be another great option to have.

Ilumix has no available continious focus with canon lenses, means it has auto focus only for photoshooting, not for video. NOBODY SAYS THAT AND I WONDER WHY

So I have a S5 and guess what... a EF 24x105 F4 (the first edition).
I was very pleased to watch your video. You telling us about how satisfied you are.

I got the first 50mm f/1.8. I'm not sure if it'll work with the mc-21.

I use the lumix s 85mm f/1.8 a lot for photography and a bit for video. It is a gorgeous prime lens.
Very sharp even at 1.8. The rendering, the bokeh are very particular and pleasing.

So far the mc-21 seems to works flawlessly with my 24x105.
Your are right, the combination S5 + mc-21 + EF24x105 F4 is gorgeous.
Video on manual focus (I don't care, I only film landscapes and cityscape, always very static shots) is beautiful.
On the photo side, I have no complaints about the autofocus.
Stabilization seems to work fine...

Fantastic video! I have the S5 and I’m a big fan boy too! One quick question…I just bought the 70-200 f4 (non IS) for a bargain price. I’m obviously relying purely on the ibis in the S5. I see you have the IS version. Bearing in mind that we can’t access dual IS through the sigma adaptor, have you found the lens is to be much better than the using the ibis? If you could do a quick test and let me know the answer, I’d be massively appreciative. I really like the Len’s I’ve bought but want to make sure I’m not missing out 😂! Many thanks, Ben
great to hear that you love your S5 ben. As for you lens question I honestly think as long as you use the S5 ibis I think you are gonna be just fine. That being said I imagine the lens IS helps but I doubt there is a ton of difference. Cheers to Lumix sir
Solid video man, thanks for sharing! I've been a Lumix GH-series shooter (mostly video) for a long time but recently "upgraded" to the S5 and also got the Sigma MC-21 adapter with it. Now getting new glass is where it gets tricky for me; would you say there's any noticeable IQ loss with the adapter? I'm thinking about getting a Sigma 105mm f1.4 lens but I'm torn between getting it with the L or EF mount. The latter would make it usable on my GH5 too with the Metabones Ultra Speedbooster that I have, but if the L-mount version would render better/sharper results it may be worth getting that one instead. Hey Fred, I honestly think that you wold not lose any IQ if you went the adapter route, I also agree with you that its nice to be able to use the glass on both the S5 and your GH5 as that is what I have been doing with my Canon glass. All that being said what ever choice you go with I think the sigma glass will look fantastic on your S5. Cheers Sir

Anyone with the S5II & MC-21 Adapter:
With simple lenses like the Canon 50mm f1.8, 1.4, Sigma 24mm ART, Sigma 35mm Art....do the lenses ALWAYS miss focus in M (Manual) mode when taking photos or when doing Single Shot AF in S&Q mode?
Almost every Canon lens I adapt except the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM & Tokina 11-16mm misses focus when taking photos or trying to focus with single shot in S&Q mode. Even the Sigma 24-105mm f4 completely misses focus when taking photos and in S&Q single shot mode.
Hey, i've just received my Lumix S5ii + Sigma MC 21 and I have the same result : it miss the focus almost all the time (i use a 50mm f/1,4). And when it does focus where I tell him to, it's after a bit of pumping. I dont know if it's because of some kind of setting, or if it's because im in low light situation (just inside my flat... nothing very dark at all), but yes, it is UNUSABLE !

what is the real difference with the viltrox?
I come from canon to the S5 but dont really have any FF canon glass anyways. Is it still worht it getting an adapter just because EF lenses is so much easier to find cheap second hand?
I think the adapters are a great way to save money and still get great results. There are some many FF Ef-mount lenses out there are fantastic and well priced that I would go the adapter route over native. But honestly its just a personal choice as when I purchased my S5 I already owned several FF ef-mount lenses. Either way I think you will be happy with whatever choice you make. to be honest, I really only own canon glass because it is what I have owned for years. That being said I do think sigma offers the best bang for the buck or there is always the old faithful Rokinon cine lens. Cheers
When I attach my Canon EF lenses, I'm not getting any aperture control. The aperture number stays at 0.0. Is there a setting I need to change in the camera?

Seems now AF works in video also with S5 II ....
For $15.00 on Amazon I use my old Nikon F Mount glass from the Eighties..... pretty cool. I also splurged on the Sigma 150-600mm Sport, such a beast... as well as some macro extension tubes. BTW I am runnung with two S5s...... love them!

I watched most reviews about MC-21 and so far the one thing im hesitant to buy its because they cant allow the lumix to switch to full frame mode when we're using cropped-canon lens such as the Sigma 18-35mm.. even tho it is a crop lens but u can get a full frame field of view when we're zoomed into 20-35mm.. Someone made a content that the Commlite EF-L mount is better when facing this type of case

You will be able to use this in full frame mode as long as you are using full frame lenses, if you have to use the sigma 18-35mm i'm pretty sure then you will be locked into apsc mode. Cheers Nate

Hey, so I would want to get this to adapt my Sony E-mount full frame lenses to the upcoming Panasonic S1H II. I am curious if I would still be able to use autofocus or ISS from the Sony lenses on the Panasonic camera. This would be for videography.
It's not possible to adapt Sony E to Leica L. Sony E lenses are designed to be 18 mm from the sensor but the leica L mount is 20 mm away and no adaptor can mount a lens 2 mm back into the camera body.
I am interested in the Lumix S5 for it has many good reviews and b/c of the current fantastic price. I also have many canon EF lenses. According to your video, canon EF lenses work well on the S5 using the adapter Sigma MC21 for photography. But how about for videography.?? I think I will be a hybrid user using the S5 equally for both photos and videos. Will I have an issue with continuous autofocus using the S5 + canon lenses for video ?? Thanks for the answer as It will influence my decision on the S5
So to be 100% honest I would avoid using continuous AF when paired with Canon glass as I have not found much success when using that combination. That being said I have found native glass to work well for video when using AF. If you are using the S5 as a hybrid shooter I think you will be more than happy. Cheers Sir
tbh, caf for video isn't really a thing with the s5 (seems to be with the s5ii though). If you shoot stills with af and video with manual focus or maybe af-s it's a killer camera. I sold mine because i didn't like the v-log files or the video autofocus but i'm considering buying it again, or better yet s5ii. All the competitors have compromises too unless you jump up substantially in budget.

hey dagger media great question. The adapter piece is removable so you should not run into any issues or at least in my personal experience I have not run into any issues
Are you noticing any quality difference when using apsc lenses for photography instead of a full-frame lens? I'm assuming you'll have to use apsc mode and not be able to take advantage of the entire sensor. I'm a long-time GH5 user who just got my S5 two days ago and my ef adapter just came today so I'll be testing it out all weekend. I've been trying to decide whether I should go ahead and spring for a couple sigma L mount lenses or just stick with my nifty fifty, sigma 18-35 and tokina 11-20 which is pretty much all I use on my gh5 anyways.
There absolutely is a difference in image quality between aps-c mode and full frame on the S5. The image seems 'thinner' for lack of a better word. It's probably not noticable to lower end clients, and it is still better than GH5 stills, but it doesn't look like a straight crop from the full frame image. There's some kind of resampling going on.
If you can, go to a shop and try some L mount lenses and bring your adapter and Sigma glass to take comparison images.

How does the MC21 compare to the Viltrox pro?
Personally I have enjoyed the mc-21 and the viltrox but have not been very happy with the viltrox pro as I feel its workflow that’s longer when it comes to adding a new lens.

I find that will the mc-21 or the viltrox that I have access to all the camera IS settings. That being said my native 20-60mm does seem to have better overall results with the camera but when using the adapters I still think the Operation Mode + E-stab + Boost I.S. are all available and get great results. In my personal opinion Lumix's in-body camera stabilization is the best on the market for the price. Cheers sir for your question
