All this talk about the new "Face of the League" is a bunch of jive. Wemby is HIM, and there are no others that even come close. He will be the biggest box office draw in the league, if he isn't already. He's the most marketable athlete I think I have ever seen and hoop fans have already gravitated to him because he relates to people so well and is wise far beyond his years. Wemby is the unanimous ROY and will be in the running for DPOY as a rookie. The Spurs need to add pieces around him in the off season to really improve the team.
Running for DPOY ... maybe. But I think Gobert would have to get hurt or have a complete defensive collapse to drop it. He is leading the league in Defensive Win Shares and Defensive Rating. He is also not that far back in actual blocks made and has almost 100 more defensive rebounds. His defense has also ben a HUGE key to his team having (currently) the best record in the Western Conference ... while it doesn't look like Wemby (who will win ROY despite Holmgren's team having the second best record in the West) is even going to get the Spurs back to the same number of wins as they had the in 2022-23.
@@matthewdigiacomo2580 Chet plays with an MVP candidate in SGA and another future star in Jalen Williams. Both of those guys are better than anybody the Spurs have. Wemby is the best player on his team with very little help.

But let's assume they are as bad as you say, it doesn't change the fact that, other than Wemby, the roster is identical to last year. But with Wemby the team is on pace to win fewer games. tbh let's keep our hopes moderate, Zion a few yrs ago looked unstoppable, and was also branded as the greatest prospect of all time. But right now, he does not look that unstoppable anymore.
