Good Ole 12 Valve performing is as good as it gets! Best engine made in my opinion! Power, Reliability and fuel economy in a tough Dodge truck is hard to ignore.
There are more Cummins powered Dodge Trucks with a million miles on them then any other diesel powered brand. Like any brand it's how you take care of it. The first and second gen Cummins truck's forced Chevy and Ford to build a better truck that could compete with them. Some models are better than others but that's true in any brand. The early model Dodges even going back to the power wagons would out pull and out perform Chevy and Fords of the same era. They are no frills work horses that are fetching top dollar if you can find a low mileage one in good shape. Love em or hate em they are good truck's and will last a long time if taken care of.
@@redman7834 I just said pretty much what you said. Cummins are great motors and Dodge motors in general are good, it's the actual truck that struggles to hold up, up here in the rust built dodges no longer exist lol. But yes the 5.9s erased 6.5 Detroit's off the market. 7.3s can be argued for imo
Love that sound and love that truck. Ive had an idea that Ive had rolling around in my head about going to a pull a part and getting everything except the cab, bed and frame from donor 3/4 ton dodges and using my 2002 s10 as the receiver and turning it into a prerunner.
Everyone is always like your cummins sounds like a farm tractor and I’m like cool how’s feel when my truck that sounds like a farm tractor blows past you on the highway??🚂💨
alex murry doesn't look like I am the only one who sees it....I see 37 likes to this thread right here...nothing but smoke and noise. someone either doesn't know how to drive or doesn't know how to set this truck up.
C Bell24v wondering the same thing, his engine is probably built and he might be running twins, real nice and powerful truck and that turbo wine though
C Bell24v probabaly an hx40 there a common swap on the 5.9's they come off the 8.3 cummins but they have a lot of lag and make a lot of noise and sound amazing but it's only a 60mm compressor wheel and it has a large exhaust housing designed for the larger motor and it's not designed to operate at such high Rpms as most performance built 5.9's and when you bark them or push them hard they are notorious for snapping shafts clean in half but still a good budget turbo
C Bell24v yeah the hx40's really do scream my buddy had one on his 98.5 24v and he put a 62mm billet wheel in it and it sounded and performed very well but I'm pretty sure it had a smaller exhaust housing also to help with spool up but you had to be careful not to let out of the throttle fast and bark it because with a large set of injectors it was pushing way out of its map range and would break if beaten
If you reduce the fuel going in the motor your engine would have more power all that smoke is unburned fuel... just look how long it takes for your turbo to spool up because to much fuel, just get a bigger turbo to force more air to burn nearly all the fuel or turn down the fuel on your injection pump I'll never understand why people think all that smoke is more power....SMH

Funny...a 454 would of done better
@@ramondotan2611 yeah with getting 4 mpg and gutless😂 don’t see big blocks getting good hp by turning a screw😂
The actual truck is the worst part around the motor, a Chevy truck would've done better as far as durability goes

Thus is nothing for the truck

That truck needs a pair of lockers, no need for al this power wen you cant put it to the ground. sounds amazing tho!!
MrHulliemam all this power? All I'm seeing is a bunch of smoke...

Mel's 12valve HX35/HT3B compound setup is what he said I believe. He commented on another's post in here I believe with more specs.
Wonder how hard it'd be to drop that in my durango
Well that’s one way to destroy a nice truck

okay gotcha, i have a 63mm in mine and it sounds nothing close to that lol

Mine sounds like that too, but I just bought it last month and don't know what turbos on it. All I know is it's new
it's a twin turbo it's not a single turbo

Stop,hating butthurt Ford owner
The Cummins didn't climb the hill... The Dodge did. The Cummins just got it up the hill
