A definite 1000% of injustice 😢. How her family were dealt with this injustice of their loss of a daughter, mother and father n friends . It makes me want to scream 😢
The child is three years old, which means that when this murderer gets out of jail, she will be approximately 11 years old. He will be able to enjoy raising his daughter, walking her down the aisle, being a grandfather and living his best life. He got a slap on the wrist for premeditated murder.
It's because her family doesn't speak English, had not established a relationship with her so it would be MORE traumatic for the child to be placed with strangers who don't speak her language. Sad but true! Another reason that immigrants, especially illegal ones, speak the language of the country where they reside 😊
@@sandeesimons6045 Rubbish! The baby was ONE year old, she didn't speak ANY language Lol Clear case of racism. They let the white guy leave the country with the baby, let his family keep her when he was convicted and they're probably living on child support from the child's estate as well! A plea deal should have forced him to reveal the location or at least details of what he did with the body, which probably ended up as shark food. After 8 years he could plan his daughter's death to claim her inheritance! A cold blooded greedy murderer should have got life without parole as he still poses a danger to society, esp his daughter. Complete miscarriage of justice.
Why is that so crazy. His family didn't kill the mother so why wouldn't the child's grandparents be able to have her. Very illogical to punish the grandparents due to their son killing the mother.

How was he able to plea out on murder charges for just 8 years, given his calculated and deliberate actions? No body? Of course there's no body... she was shark bate.
Because the prosecutor did not have enough evidence to charge him with first degree intentional murder. All the evidence was circumstantial. It's infuriating I know!
What happen to that suitcase that was presumably heavy, the only one he took on the plane, maybe her body was stuffed in there and got enough time to depose of it, who knows, they didn't investigate this case properly they didn't even bother to check the one suitcase that he carried on the plane while he left the rest of his belongings for the coast guards to carry SMH
Lewis was put on game by his attorney, to take the child to his home country BEFORE he could be formally charged. His lawyer knew that the other country's laws wouldn't allow his child to be turned over to his wife's family after that. Hell, other country's laws wouldn't even extradite a killer back to the U.S. if the death penalty were on the table most times, so, sending a child back is even more difficult. Plain and simple.
@@gigimokri6476 Not if he hadn't been formally charged. You can't just take a child from a parent on suspicion, WITHOUT solid proof a crime had been committed by the parent being accused. That's VERY, VERY difficult to do in ANY jurisdiction, if not impossible.

It only took one video previous to this one for me to subscribe immediately!!! Love that you just get to the facts and all the clips you use!! I have not finished this video I actually just started this one but I love that you also are doing cases that I've never heard of as everybody deserves to have their story told and you being a voice for them and their families!! Obviously this kind of content is very heavy and heartbreaking but thank you for making your videos!
Hey! Glad you found us and welcome to the channel 🙂. We try our best to bring new cases to light that haven’t been covered too much so great to hear when that’s appreciated.
I still don't understand how this channel doesn't have more subscribers we definitely need to share this video guys because this channel deserves to have way more to subscribers
One of the first cases I’ve heard of where the child of the deceased stays with the family of the accused … Normally she would go back to Isabella’s family … 🤔🇨🇦
2:58 Kevin, I always knew that you researched and explained everything to us very clearly but I REALLY see that today. I served 22 years in the Army and I thought it was so cute when you said “The US Coast Guard or USCG” and instead of saying Electronic Personnel Emergency Recovery Beacon instead of EPERB. You really clarify everything! So I know I can believe your story with even more confidence. 😊
If they could've found her body, it would've been a different sentence, so, they worked with what they had, including him stealing those coins from his former employer. But, fed time is VERY, VERY serious at any rate.
It's said by the lawyer that the judge recognized the severity of the crime. He didn't. The judge hadn't put together that this human waste of a person set this woman up, to kill her, to take her assets and to take her from her baby. He did not have the right to deprive this baby of her mother by killing her. 8 years is nothing for the life he's taken from this earth.
It's like the blink of an eye. And you just KNOW he won't even serve that much time probably because of good behavior credits, etc. All of this sucks so bad.
8 years is the maximum sentence for manslaughter. He wouldn't have been found guilty of murder and would therefore walk free. The prosecution were smart to get him for manslaughter rather then nothing. Just because you don't understand the system of law doesn't mean you should pass judgement on the judge when you don't understand how these things work
I think a good determined prosecutor could convince a sensible jury that he murdered Isabella, cos his story is clearly bs and he was obviously just after her money. They should've charged murder and let the jury decide... Now he'll probably be out in about 4 years and will ruin the daughters life as he'll be plotting ways of getting at her money. I'm a bit confused by a couple of things: 1) Why did he have the coins with him that he had stolen a year prior? 2) If they left at 5:30 pm from Cuba (with autopilot set) and it is only 100 miles to Key West, why were they in the Bahamas in the middle of the night? 3) Why was a 'mining engineer by trade' working as a (thieving) deck hand (was he really an engineer or was this simply his singles ad statement)?
RIP ISABELLA It hurts to know how ISABELLA and her family doesn't get justice. And that monster got 8 years. Omg! Damn I was so mad when I heard that. --Eight freakin' years for a CLEARLY premeditated murder --of the mother of his own daughter no less?! Unbelievable! How very inept, even negligent, of the D..A.'s office (at least to me)....
You clearly have no clue how the justice system works and never been on a jury. You need PROOF BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT for a conviction. They had none and he would have walked out a free man on a murder charge.
@bc5208 Well, he takes her out in that ridiculous boat under the guise of a "honeymoon", yet made sure nobody else actually saw her on it. He turned off their communication systems, but made sure to turn it back on so he could be rescued. He put holes in the boat from the inside. He immediately tried to declare her dead, take ownership of her belongings, and left the country with the baby. Just to name a few... Making it "obvious" that he killed her!
@@lunaportia989Calm down! He only objected to the word “obvious”. It was suspicious. And with wreckage report and stolen goods, it was clear that there was wrongdoing. The jury couldn’t give a life sentence for such a “obvious” case.
Absolutely inexcusable. So many egregious actions in this case by the FBI and law enforcement officials. He should’ve NEVER been allowed to leave the country during an ongoing investigation. And whoever organized that deal needs to be investigated. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a case where a thief and a murderer got anything less than 15 years. 8 YEARS FOR MURDER IS INSANE! I had to rewind the video cause I was in disbelief. My heart goes out to Isabella’s loved ones and that baby whose selfish, piece of shit father took the life of her beautiful mother. Fucking loser.
So, Bennet was a Kitty R yacht crewman, who reported to the St. Martin police, the theft of the coin collection. And then the coins, identified by their owner, were found in the life raft and in the condo. Why was Bennet only convicted of transportation of stolen goods, for that crime, when it was clear he was the thief? It is the American practice of bargaining down a crime to avoid a lengthy jury trial, which saved this criminal from long prison sentences on two occasions.
Justice in the US is frequently just a numbers game. If the prosecutor can make a deal he gets a conviction. It’s a win for him. The victim and the victims family really do not come into play oftentimes.
Thank you for another fantastic case. This one really makes me think that Isabella's body was in the backpack he took when rescued, then he discarded her body somewhere when he returned home. The sentence was way too lenient.
I think the rolls of silver coins were in the backpack. I'm guessing he discarded her body in the ocean long before he staged the "accident". He should rot in jail 😕
Thank you for your presentation of this horrific and very sad story. It was like an update to the case for those of us who have previously heard about it before hand. I believe the outcome went as well as it could have for the courts considering he did all of this outside the USA. The only other thing I wish could have been included in the plea deal, especially since he’s getting off so lightly would’ve been for him to have to disclose the location of Isabella’s body. Poor poor Amelia. What an extremely selfish monster whom she must call Dad, who will be out of jail in no time & will probably change his name & then have more opportunities to do additional sinister things to more unsuspecting women. A tiger doesn’t change its stripes & I believe if he could do this to his daughter’s own mother then he certainly wouldn’t ever be willing to change for her. What a sad start in life she’s been given simply by being fathered by such a worthless, heinous twit. Rip Isabella.🕊️ Prayers for her family, especially Amelia. 💔
Reporter: The family has been very vocal about not wanting her to be presumed dead. Lawyer: I'm not aware of them being vocal about this. Reporter: They've spoken to us and told us, on the record, that they don't want her declared dead. Lawyer: Why is that? REALLY???!! He really asked why a family wouldn't want their loved one declared dead after only a few months of being missing?! SMDH.
Would you like to venture a guess which profession most sociopaths/psychopaths/narcissists pursue the most? If you guessed attorney, then you guessed right. This is the stone, cold truth. It makes sense because to always endlessly get their way, they have to know the rules in order to bend the rules, or outright know how to outmaneuver the rules. smdh
Lewis is an idiot. His impatience in trying to collect Isabella's financials, the staged damage on the catamaran, his theft of this coins, and the things he packed while abandoning ship all point to his criminal past and present intent to do harm to Isabella. Even worse, even though Emelia's(sp?) the recipient of her mothers estate, unless its her mothers family in charge of it, Lewis can still access it either through legal guardianship or whoevers been placed as Emelia's legal guardian. If that's anyone in his family, he's in like Flynn...
This sick idiot should have had life in prison. And the child should be at Isabella’s family. What a tragedy. Prayers to her and her family. Thanks for an always interesting video!👍
The interaction between IT and Isobellas family is so sad, my heart goes out to them, i hope there is someone who can help them gain custody back of there only link to there murdered loved one
What I find truly disturbing about cases like this one is the insurmountable amount of guilt attached to this monster murdering his wife still managed to gain support from his family who is willingly kidnapping a child from the mother’s family and not allowing them access to her given the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death. Unfortunately for them we live in a society where every aspect of a crime is recorded and documented. When that child gets older she will seek out the truth about her mother’s death and whatever manipulation they may try to cover up their son’s disgusting actions will not hold up compared to the documented evidence.
I cannot understand why law enforcement does not require the defendant Lewis Bennett to provide minute and specific details of how Isabella was killed, where, and when, so that a search for her remain could be launched as part of the plea deal with Lewis. If any information provided by Lewis is proven to be false or impossible to be true, then his plea of guilty of manslaughter would still stand but his sentence would be increased to that of 2nd degree murder instead of that of manslaughter.
Totally respect the levels of investigation you put fourth on the unfortunate series of events told on this one. The timeline alone was very crucial to the outcome. It was presented I feel in a fashion that wasn’t disrespectful to the family.
It’s so heartbreaking and disgusting to see somebody who most likely did some harm being able to take the child without any consideration to the other part of the family. I only say most likely, because at the time he took the baby, he hadn’t been convicted of her murder.

@@PalmBeachFlorida24 It might not be a barrier "on the books" or even on their mind, but there is at least a subconscious bias in most people that they can understand & trust the motivations of people that speak the same .. So sad for the family that her body was never found. Unreal that they couldn't have indicted him on murder right away. RIP Isabella.
No proof. Unless they found her body, that was all they could do. But, him stealing those coins from his former employer helped to get lock him up.

Clear case of racism.

How was he able to plea out on murder charges for just 8 years, given his calculated and deliberate actions?

Exactly!!! That’s insane! He should’ve had his parental rights terminated!
I’ve always said this and it happens all the time. I don’t get it
Lewis was put on game by his attorney, to take the child to his home country BEFORE he could be formally charged.

I literally just found your channel this morning I do not know how I have watched true crime for all this time and have never came acrossed it before.

Lewis Bennett should have got more than 8 years, the rat
8 years is a pathetically weak sentence.
The prosecutor that agreed to this plea deal is lazy and inept..disgusting.
That's an insult to rats.
I am Appalled that he only got eight years. My heart and prayers go out to Isabellas family, especially her daughter.❤️🩹
Should have been 25 years, minimum 15 years. Also, the daughter should have been returned to her mother's family.
If they could've found her body, it would've been a different sentence, so, they worked with what they had, including him stealing those coins from his former employer.
But, fed time is VERY, VERY serious at any rate.
Another well-thought out case Kevin. Thanks for sharing.
Just because you don't understand the system of law doesn't mean you should pass judgement on the judge when you don't understand how these things work
@@TrustMeIKnowEverything STF UP! You haven't wiped that scum off around your mouth from last night. Since you know everything, did you know that?

It's a good day when there's a new JTL video 👍
I'm a bit confused by a couple of things:
1) Why did he have the coins with him that he had stolen a year prior?
2) If they left at 5:30 pm from Cuba (with autopilot set) and it is only 100 miles to Key West, why were they in the Bahamas in the middle of the night?
3) Why was a 'mining engineer by trade' working as a (thieving) deck hand (was he really an engineer or was this simply his singles ad statement)?
RIP ISABELLA
It hurts to know how ISABELLA and her family doesn't get justice. And that monster got 8 years. Omg! Damn I was so mad when I heard that. But, I am glad that he thought he was smarter than the investigators. They did an awesome job!! They really came through for ISABELLA.

Totally agree. I also thought he should have been charged with theft.

Thank you for your presentation of this horrific and very sad story. It was like an update to the case for those of us who have previously heard about it before hand. I believe the outcome went as well as it could have for the courts considering he did all of this outside the USA. Hey Kevin, I watch a lot of these true crime vids. Yours are far better than most!
I like to listen your narration of each cases... you have a very soft and relaxing voice... Thanks so much :D
