56 is insane, especially with how close Cole was shaving the paper too. Brilliant technique, excellent knife and clearly fantastic sharpness. That man knows his stuff.
If you can manage to not "run out" the edge, I think cutting closer is better. Because the cut off has less total weight, and thus sags less during the cut.
How to not suck at this: 1. Choose a knife with Thin blade stock 2. Also look for something Thin behind the edge 3. Sharpened to really high grit for enhanced push cutting 4. Cut close to where you are pinching the paper 5.Utilize a slicing motion through the paper 6. If all else fails ask to borrow the winners knife
Zac, thank you for the positive attitude and enthusiasm you bring to all the Blade Shows! This was such a cool challenge and you should do it every year 😂
And I gotta GOTTA give a huge shoutout to Jamie and his creative ability to edit these videos..... its literally pure gold.......I didn't even realize until after it was over.... lol your videos literally make me smile and or laugh almost the entire time watching!!!! You guys keep me captivated the entire time!!!! So thank you for that.... your whole style the way you guys make content!!!!!!! Its really good guys!!!!
Proof you don't need to spend 100s of dollars to get a good cutting knife. The fact that he won with a $70 Chinese knife makes it even better. Love my elementum!
Great video, technique is very important as well as blade geometry and edge sharpness, Frankie and Bird are a couple of my favorite reviewers. Love this stuff, well done and thanks.
I wanted to do this but figured you'd be walking around. I'll definitely be hitting this booth next year! Great video and big congrats to the winner, that was incredibly impressive!
Love my Work Sharp Precision. All my knives have mirror edges. I use 3M lapping films after I re-profile with the Precision. Thanks Zac. It was fun. 🔪🎸
Is it just printer paper? How wide was it? Id like to know so i can see how well i can do. This is a great challenge because its a mix of knife sharpness, edge angle and geometry as well as technique. You can have a very sharp knife but if you haven't cut a lot of paper you won't do that well. Prop to the winner for getting 27 and then coming back and doubling his result even when he didn't need to. 55 push cuts without messing up is really impressive.
You make these things so much fun I stayed up late last night watching this What a hoot Now I have to figure out how to get my knives a whole lot sharper
I was watching this and you said its not that easy, try it at home. So no joke I pulled out one of my balisongs and was able to do it like 10 times before i was satisfied. Lol ill see you next year! I was at blade show and didn’t know this was going on
Thanks for the fun content. I have to make it to blade show ( especially because I’m only about 4 hours away ). Maybe next year. Ps . Happy fathers to all the dads out there !
Best I could do was 63 but that was after quite a few attempts and I can say it really isn’t the blade but is the cutting technique because I never actually sharpened it but still managed it. Attempts: roughly 6
@@TysingerKnifeandTooldude! That was some super sweet technique (which i can only hope to replicate someday) but can you share the specs on your sharpening?
Poor Harrison, but he have to know these striders are thick as a crowbar and the factory angels on them are 23-25 ° per side they are anything other than slicey
I take full blame for my performance! As you saw, I came back with the Big Idea Design Ti Pocket Knife on day 3. It’s got a thicker blade stock, too, but comes down to a nice hollow grind BTE. It was strictly technique that hindered me! 😂

LOL the guy pulls out scissors, classic.
Thanks!😉
Scissors technically 2 knife blades bolted together lol
Ahh UA-cam showed me this comment as the banner comment, unfortunate spoilers
@@EDCNC-YTIt was a ballsy move. Loved it.
The true winner! 😂
Goes to show that it doesn't really matter if you have a $100+ knife to cut with, it's how you sharpen it and your technique. Great video Zac!
If I wasn't held up in Germany I would have stepped up with 8Cr13MoV just to make that point!
@nedkelly3436 lol

Ayyy Melissa Backwoods cameo at 8:27 - Surprised she didn't get in on the action!
Was awesome to compete! 😂 my bro represented well!!
Legend!
It was cool to meet you Zac! I had a blast!
Great job man !
Loved this one Zac, awesome technique from Cole, but can't discount how capable the worksharp precision adjust is when used properly.
Proof you don't need to spend 100s of dollars to get a good cutting knife. The fact that he won with a $70 Chinese knife makes it even better. Love my elementum!
it's all about how you hold the paper and orientation to the knife to the paper with straight knife strokes.
Great video, technique is very important as well as blade geometry and edge sharpness, Frankie and Bird are a couple of my favorite reviewers. Love this stuff, well done and thanks.
Thanks Tim 👋
Great video, like seeing what knives ppl actually have instead of some type of advertisement to sale a specific brand.
Fun video Zac and Jaime. Congratulations to that guy with the elementum. Cool
To see Frankie and Bird.
Y’all are awesome!! You took it way too easy on me! 😂 Keep it up, fellas. Thanks for being so cool!
Next year you'll get it!
Thanks for showing up every day!
@@The4cp thanks for the vote of confidence!
@@zacinthewild I think it’s more appropriate for me to thank you for chance after chance! Keep the killer content coming!!
You're now a legend to me my friend!! Can't wait to see next year.
Frankie and Bird🥰 much love for them both. Great folks!
Much appreciated 😆😆
These cutting videos are always so fun to watch! Thanks for always making great community video content!
Loved the video Zac. Fun content and great to see people we watch along side blade show patrons. Fun stuff!!!
I LMFAO fo reals!!!! Best time watching a video all flipping week!!! Thx so much Zack!!!

Cole just sold many Elementums and Precision Adjust systems 😂
Should I get commission? Haha
@@TysingerKnifeandTool 😂👍 well, that version of the Elementum on my to do list again!
That was a fun video! Very entertaining! Good job Zack!
Dang, what a great commercial for the Precision Adjust 💪
Congarts on 100k Zac and Jamie! Well deserved.
🎉
Technique is EveryThing !
Which Worksharp model did the winner sharpen on exactly? That's insane
I absolutely love that he did it with an Elementum.
Me too 🤙🏼😉
@@TysingerKnifeandTool Whoa what!? It's you! 😂 Congrats on getting 1st place. You killed it.
@@jtg_edc Thank you!
Love my Work Sharp Precision. All my knives have mirror edges. I use 3M lapping films after I re-profile with the Precision. Thanks Zac. It was fun. 🔪🎸
This was a fun one. Great seeing a lot of familiar faces from other channels.
Wooo button lock! time to get a 3rd elementum
Fun contest. It seems to be about paper grain and angle of attack. My nakiri kitchen blade would have been a contender! 👍 😃
I need that mini OTF in my life. Lol. This looked like a fun contest.
Man that Elementum was sharp, always appreciate the video quality from that Sony camera.
funny to see the elementum do so well. hollow grinds are great and good geometry and thickness behind edge matter more than steel and polish.
Super fun video, you guys are killing it!

Ya Zac, give us the regulation parameters please. What's the official width?
Such a great contest idea.
Man, I was rooting for Harrison on day 3.
😂 Sorry to let you down. It wasn’t meant to be, I suppose! I vow to do better next year. I’d vow to do worse, but that would be impossible! 😂
You make these things so much fun I stayed up late last night watching this What a hoot Now I have to figure out how to get my knives a whole lot sharper
This was amazing. I loved it. It's so simple, pure fun.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was awesome ! Thanks guys!!
Civivi should give that one guy a new elementum... dang that was impressive
One hundred percent!!!
I was watching this and you said its not that easy, try it at home. So no joke I pulled out one of my balisongs and was able to do it like 10 times before i was satisfied. Lol ill see you next year!

AMAZING video!!!! Thanks Zac!!
This was so fun to watch thanks man ❤
That dude bring out utility knives is savage 😂
@maxlvledc is a beast!
That dude prove civivi elementum is very great knives for edc...
I think we know who won lol that was crazy 55 cut that's awesome!!
harrison with the triple 000 i wonder if being a lefty makes his blade angle less cuttable?
Thank you for acknowledging my left-handedness. I hadn’t considered that! I’ll add it to my book of excuses, hahaha.
I'm not interested in paper cuts. I wanna bone cutting sharpness 💀
Ironically the guy that won 1st (on a Work-Sharp), doesn't need another Work-Sharp.
To bad TSP didn't show up take 1st place.
If the winner already had the system, did he take that home, or did he do the bro thing and pass it down to second place?
The Ego on that bird guy. He cant give up his pride
Thanks for the fun content. I have to make it to blade show ( especially because I’m only about 4 hours away ). Maybe next year. Ps . Happy fathers to all the dads out there !
Hilarious that the cheapest knife was the winner 😂
That was kinda delicious.
Button lock elementum! Ouuuhbb muh Guaaad ! 🤩
It's not the knife, it''s not always the person. It's how you holds the paper.! Cowabunga Zac in the Wild.
Zach better have a 7 figure contract from worksharp! 💯
That 27 guy knows what's up!
Fun video!
So, what are the specs on that paper for educational purposes?
I would've chosen the button lock elementum as well.
Go Cole!!!
Pretty awesome the knife that won was sharpened on the precision adjust 😂
Best I could do was 63 but that was after quite a few attempts and I can say it really isn’t the blade but is the cutting technique because I never actually sharpened it but still managed it.

@@TysingerKnifeandTooldude! That was some super sweet technique (which i can only hope to replicate someday) but can you share the specs on your sharpening?
@@davidh9585 my Dad sharpened it for me on the original precision adjust elite. He used a 17° angle I believe.
Zac what paper do you use?
Whats the name of that giant otf and where can i get one😂
I’m definitely doing this next year
My buck 110 still slices better than all my other knives... Can't beat their hollow grind
should have done a training montage for the dude that came back 3 times, how is he supposed to epically win at the end without a training montage?!
I thought Dominick had it with that fastback. I like seeing multiple channel overlap.

It was a Button Lock Civivi Elementum
Glad everyone liked the scissors!! I’ll be back next year for redemption!!!😉😁
The top shirt button does not get buttoned without a tie.
Brilliant 👏
One is for sure, forget the factory edge! Find a really thin convex.
I saw MelissaBackwoods in the background. How come she didn't get in on the cutting action?
Normal a4 paper?
Didn’t the Spyderco Bowie only come out like 2 years ago? Idk
I need to send all my knives to that dude’s Dad. That’s crazy
He’s a pro for sure! I’ll pass the compliment along!
Now that's how you advertise a product !
*best compesition ever i would beat all with my light sword* 😂
I have a problem with beginning tears no matter how much i practice.
So many people at the blade show having problems trying to be straight 🤔
scissors guy for the win lol
2:11 that's the name
2:55 That's what you get for trying to do it cool.
My button elementum is really my sharpest knife it's the thin grind on the 14c28n that's razor steel made for razors its a great knife
And in the end it was a massacre.
Guess I got some practicing to do lol
56💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥awesome
Someone should have brought a Sandrin...
Please please please come and bring this challenge to BladeShowTexas next year!!! ✋🏼🔪 📄 😆👍🏼
Now I'm gonna buy a button lock elementum
Best civivi ad on the internet lol!
Everybody needs to have a boker mermaid 🧜♀️ in their collection.
Would've been nice to see everything thing he won
I will admit the shot of the prizes is not great but if you check out 0:37 you can see them all.
