Guys, this isn't good. Airships? Floating Islands? This is literally my favorite theme for fantasy settings. I'm never going to have free time again because I'll officially be adding High Rollers to the list of things I watch. I'm officially hook and excited for this.
Right? I always route for his characters (Aqua Mamba, "The Shoe", Lucius, etc.). He does such a good job on them. Good voice acting and improvising! And he's just hilarious, all around. The whole cast is great in their own ways, but he's platonically got a special spot in my heart. Lol.
@@kylorestell9420 Fire BOLT*, at the time of this episode he doesn't yet have fireBALL, plus BALL would have been a REALLY REALLY stupid choice in that confined area!
I remember when I first found this series when it started and went, “this is great! I’ll save this playlist and watch it later.” I never did and now I have 195 episodes to catch up on
Lots of folks asking if I'll release the Homebrew stuff on DmsGuild or D&D Beyond. No plans to do this just yet, instead I want to do an Aerois Campaign Guide. :)
Very smart. Not falling into the same pitfall that Mercer did when he released some of his content on DMsGuild, which prevented him from adding them to his campaign guide. Great campaign so far btw :)
maybe you can make the underdark a distant planet with an uninhabitable surface with life only possible underground and have the drow, mind flayers, deep gnomes and other races created by the spider goddess Lolth and other evil deities.
I Was actually going to ask on Twitter if you were going to write a campaign guide for Aerois or the Lightfall world. Your world building is fantastic, and I want to run a campaign set in one of your worlds, and here is the answer! Thanks Mark
Tabletop Weekly Can't wait to see the campaign guide for Aerois!!! The Lightfall is one of my favorite worlds I've seen and Aerois sounds even better. Thanks for all the entertainment Mark!!!
Can I just say a massive well done to Rhiannon for this, I know from experience how anxiety-inducing it is to be a brand new player in a campaign where everyone else knows what they're doing, trying to figure out dice and stats and rp can be really overwhelming. To do it in front of a live audience whilst playing a custom character is an extra hurdle, and she smashed it! GG Rhiannon, loving your character and how well your persoanlity seems to blend with the rest of the group, really excited that you've joined the campaign :D
I know that feeling from when i started, i think anyone who started dnd in the internet age knows the terrifying experience that first game was if like me you started off with complete strangers...the trial by fire either keeps you hooked or scares you off for good. I'm having similar emotions as this weekend my longtime roll20 group is going to start streaming for the first time, we're not streamers or camera folk so it's kinda intimidating, we just gotta keep reminding ourselves that our storytelling is on point. Rhiannon did awesome
I started watching Aerois sometime early this year and I haven't been able to stop. I caught up to current about a month or so ago. This was my first experience with DnD and I never thought that I would laugh at the jokes, rejoice in the victories, and even cry in the most emotional bits, I never knew how amazing DnD could be, all of the players and especially Mark have made an amazing universe that I have fallen in love with. I look forward to Aerois every single week and I can't thank you all enough for being you. I finished ep 189 earlier today and I wanted to come back and rewatch where it all began. This has been the best experience of my life. I am honored to live in a world with people that are so creative and amazing, I don't want Aerois to end, but I can't wait for the finale. I will absolutely be watching campaign 3. Rhi, Trott, Kim, Katie, Tom, and especially Mark please never stop.
I don't know if y'all ever read youtube comments on old videos, but I was going to start a rerun marathon to help settle my anxiety waiting for these next few weeks to happen. I started catching up to aerois right after everyone had to start playing from home, I've been through more rough times than good times since then, but I have since learned whether times are good or bad has a lot to do with your own mindset, and how you choose to handle the things life throws at you. So thank you, Mark, Chris, Kim, Katie, Tom, and Rhi(congrats on joining the mom club) for always giving me something good to look forward to everysingle week, and for your part in showing me how to deal with life's speed bumps, Siaska knows they'll keep coming.
I've never played dnd I have the first book and a couple others but not actually dnd books. Idk. My dad loves dnd but he is getting too old, his memory is foggy and he just passes out randomly.. I'd love to get a beginning set just to play with him..I get the concept but I just know that would mean more than anything to him. Thanks so much for everything. You people inspire me, and I wouldn't ask for anything more, I doubt you will see this but I neede to say it.
Play with your dad. Start small, it doesn’t have to be an elaborate game. Try a one-shot to get your feet wet. My biggest regret after my dad passed away last May is that I never played with him. I know he would have adored D&D.
There doesn't HAVE to be alot, you can run a game without ever doing anything more than reading and if you can reading quickly you may not even have to do that! It won't be as good as this or Critical Role are though but it fits some people's play style. One summer me and a friend of mine played with less interested people and all my friend did was take 20 minutes or so to throw a dungeon together and we would run that and then he would do it again and we would run that and repeat. The others had a pretty good time but him and I did not enjoy it as much as we usually did because we are not hack and slash players!
Rhiannon and Tom seem to play off each other very well here, I'm glad she seems to have settled in immediately! Looking forwards to seeing more of Nova, and watching Lucius accidentally irritate Aila constantly
@@mattbriddell9246 What are you talking about, these shy innocent babies could never turn into an unstoppable demonic force UWU (lol thx for bringing me back to this)
@@yooooo8600 It's definitely better than saying "unnatural 20", but I prefer to say total so nobody has to ask if it's a natural 20 or a total of 20. A very small amount of extra effort on my part to make sure nobody's confused.
Just finished the finale. This journey was absolutely amazing and, without spoiling anything, I'm going to miss the characters we met along the way. Aerois was an 11/10 experience (especially for someone who was, at the time, completely new to D&D and D&D podcasts) and I have certainly enjoyed the 570 some odd hours I've put into it. Thank you Mark, Trott, Katie, Tom, and Kim for the remarkable jobs you've all done! Looking forward to what awaits us in Campaign 3!
As a first time viewer of any DnD campaign, and someone who is just getting started with the pasttime, the most striking parts of this for me were Lucius's hilarious mutterings and exclamations, as well as the DM's incredible ability to make all kinds of sound effects with his mouth alone? What the actual
Can i have an update? did you continue watching this series? I stopped around ep 120 now i want to rewatch the beginning episodes for the nostalgia, since it was a big part of my life for about 4 months.
Mark is an amazing DM ... This episode was like a good book I Didn’t want to put down Thank you Kim for talking about this on your vlog post... followed you here and you are amazing as well as the entire crew.
I'm probably a bit late to the party, but I was excited to find this show only today just by randomly typing DnD on Spotify. I had such an enjoyable long walk with this first ep as podcast! I really appreciate your style of describing everything for listeners only, makes the experience immersive. So pleased I found this campaign to follow!
@@Sirfinchyyy I know the feeling. I’m still trying to finish. I’m on episode 100 something. And keeping up with their new one it feels like a completely different cast. Except Trott. He hasn’t changed a bit 😂😂
I found High Rillers on Spotify. Took me 70 days to catch up to episode 94. Now here I am watching them in action for the first time. I loved the podcast and I'm loving the video as well. Its everything I've pictured.
So happy to see the new campaign. Got into highrollers when Kim first showed the highlights on her channel. After finishing highrollers I started watching critical role. Now I have both this and critical role to give me great joy and laughter. Thank you all for the incredible entertainment, joy and worlds for all of us watching to enjoy.
I thought so too when I heard he had a named crossbow but to be honest he is a completely different character, reminds me (and some donator) of Bodega a bit.
im about 40 minutes in and havent seen the Qillek guy move his left arm. I seriously cant tell if he is missing an arm or is that damn good at getting into his one armed character
So i am expecting Trott to take up Sam Riegel's mantle of doing a skit for the dnd beyond ads each week

Please no. They shouldnt try and copy Critical Role. For two reasons. One, they should try and be their own brand and be unique without trying to copy someone else's work. And 2, theirs no way they can match up to the standards of critical role and thats fine. They shouldnt be expected to. Matt and gang have decades of dnd under their belt and are professional voice actors and so experienced in immersing themselves into a role. To expect a random bunch of people to constantly put out that level of quality consistently is unfair to them and to the spirit of dnd.
@ Mark has been playing for a long time and this is sorta his full time job now. Also not everything is copying, you can do something similar to another stream without it being a copy. As well as what i've said they started pretty close to the time crit role started and Mark and Matt are good friends so there is a good chance there will be similarities between the two streams. On top of all that, doing a skit for an sponsor isn't something crit role started so they wouldn't be copying crit role as it's a wide spread idea used by many people. Also, they aren't a bunch of people and all of these guy besides Rhi have played a lot of dnd so its not like they don't know what they're doing it doesn't take a professional voice actor to play a role well and it's not like you know they can't match crit role as thats a matter of opinion and there qualities are equal. Also your not the one who decides the spirit of dnd because dnd is a game where you make the rules so its not you job to make a stone cold answer to that question nor is it anyone else's
I would so love being in or DMing for this group. Seem like a great group of people, and they are so respectful of each other. No shouting over each other, that is great.
Rewatching because I'm caught up on all my DnDs, and I realize something about Trott. He's a dude who's wicked creative and pretty smart to boot, and he is fantastic at playing colorful idiots with amazing, often misunderstood abilities. I wonder if it's a reflection of how his fans view him in some ways. He has so many amazing talents and a lot of creative knowledge but we all know him best for being a fantastic idiot in Hat Films.
Also so far this world has a major like seventies sci fi art blue oyster cult feel to it just a delicious blend of sci fi and fantasy in a way that doesn’t rely on either to heavily I’m loving all of this
I could never get through the entirety of the first campaign. Kim is great of course, but her RP was flopping in the gutters of meta-gaming and non-development for so long; it actually became to painful to watch when she was stepping on the other players feet.
Bear in mind it was Kim's first time playing a D&D session all super hardcore style, so she did make a lot of the normal blunders one expects from newcomers to RP. As FourEye mentions a lot of meta-gaming, and a few other things. However she definitely had her moments and overall she's still here because Mark and everyone else wanted her to be.
Go, go, go, Lucius you know what they say! Hang on now Lucius you'll make it some day! Sha la la Lucius you're doing fine, you and your dreamcoat are ahead of your time.
Just managed to finish and I just have to say, WOW. That intro was so intense yet all the players still managed to show off their characters and personality beautifully. The story immediately has me hooked and the characters were as easy to fall in love with as the Heroes after the Lightfall. I can’t wait to see where things lead and I wish the best!
I actually had my doubts about this world because it would be really different from Arak, but I really enjoyed this 1st episode! Keep it up, the party looks amazing, I'm really into it!
Decided to come and revisit the first ever episode of Aerois just 4days before your 5 year anniversary. WOW how far you guys have come and what you have experience is so insane. Love you guys so much.
We'll, I've finally finished Campaign 1 and made it to Aerois, albeit four years late. It's good to see the team have all signed up for a second round, and Rhiannon's doing well from the get go. It will be interesting to see how they play given that all but Rhiannon are now experienced players and are used to Mark's DMing style. I'm expecting great things.
god dam it trott first episode and you make me laugh to much. xD we got a flightless bird man, a Apologetic Warlock, a raging wood elf, a heavy hitting Construct and a daddy's boy high-elf. Lady's and gentlemen strap yourself's in for a Interesting and fun journey xD
rewatching this after ep.94, and goddamn. this is sooo goood whoever you are whose watching this for the 1st. time. keep at it. this one's one of the best. the best.
I have never played DnD, mainly because there are no such events where i live. But yet im so fascinated by how colorfull the DM narrates and illustrates everything! I think i would really really love to find a group to play DnD with :o
remember when Jiutou ran along the wall in the 1st episode of Highrollers Campaign 1? now the enemies do it lmao hahaha i love it! cheers to a new series!
Um, idk if it is a bad place to ask this but,,, I loved Mark's appearance in Critrole and find his style of playing dnd highly entertaining so i came here! To see him as a dungeon master and see his players. And it looks really promising and cool BUT being a non-native english speaker i have huge troubles catching up with their accents and speed of talking and all the unfamiliar words they sometimes use,,, and automatic subtitles are no much help. ^^' So if there are any highrollers-fans interested in helping such dumdums as myself to actually understand this or previous campaign it would be so nice of you to add transcript or subtitles (i'm not sure how to say it right sorry,,,). Sorry if it is too much to ask for just a random person on internet! ^^''' I also mean no offence to anyone and do not force anyone to do it! Just mentioning it if anyone has wish to do it, idk (and maybe if there are many of people like me, we could group and pay someone to do this? i'm not sure if it's a thing for which you can pay but i'm pretty ignorant so maybe?) Have a nice day and thank you for your attention. ^^' (ugh sorry for my terrible english i'm,,, i'm bad at it heh,,,,)
English is not my first language neither but I could love to help in the captions or the translationa to other languages! So if there's people interested maybe be could make a little proyect and help other fans to understand. So, if anyone's interested...
I've been wanting to. English is my first language, but I have a bit of trouble processing words that are being said and prefer to have subs as well. I don't know what exactly has to be done to write subtitles for a youtube video, and if you can just write them (I know how to do that part) but I would be very willing to help.
@@lucasnixan7695 that's probably because their bilingual and not some new learner of English. Just cause they understand most English doesn't mean people talking very fast and in accents isn't confusing for them :/
I've never played D&D before (because I don't know how to and none of my (3) friends like this sort of thing) but I got some dice today (cause its my birthday today) and I really want to play at some point so I decided to watch this to learn how to/watch others play. Also everyone here (both the players and their characters) are very pretty!
This looks SO much more fun When played like, people know what they're doing. I play with MY friend and my sibling and we all have no clue what we're doing so its a mess
I lost the story around Episode 80-90. And now wanna watch it again. But I decided to rewatch all of it because i loved the story and wanna experience it again! ♥️
Honestly Kim is the best ❤️❤️❤️ I miss her content on UA-cam but I'm glad to still watch her on high rollers ❤️❤️❤️ she always brings a smile to my face~
Well... after spending all of last week watching the last few episodes of the Lightfall campaign, then sitting through the videos leading up to the stream, I have to say... it was all worth it. Seriously, I actually managed to catch the stream live for the first time ever with my dad, and I was amazed. The new characters have been great so far, and Rhian did great for her first session. So far the character that has me most interested is Nova, with her whole Hexblade pack, which I can't wait to learn more about. Her bubbly, nerdy personality has also made me like her (and is a welcome change from Jiutou- and that's no offense to Kim or her former character, but Jiutou's hypocrisy and self-important attitude really got on my nerves by the end of things). The other characters have also really caught my eyes- the cowardly but magical Lucius, the flightless but resourceful Qillek, the brutish yet effective Aila, and the protective and caring Sentry. Not to mention the world so far... along with the introduction videos, the whole thing seems surreal. Flying airships and cities, an invading force from space led by a god (or at least a god killer) several centuries ago, the Court of Shadows and their life-draining constructs, and so much more that I can't fit on here. Mark, your Lightfall campaign is what got me into D&D, and I'm hoping that this campaign will give me inspiration for a long series of books I want to write (and I do mean long). All of you just keep doing what you're doing, and let's get ready for what will hopefully be another great two years (longer, if we're lucky).
love it when the dnd sinks in like how Altheya is on the verge of sinking in right now, and Aerois is gonna be SINKING so hard oh geez im so excited to rewatch for the confrontation, the book and the coin 👀
Been looking for a new campaign to binge after catching up on Critical Role. This looks like it's gonna be fun. I already love Quillek. Protect the birb!
Had a hilarious moment. I finally came over here from Mark's Nights of Eveningstar campaign, January 2021. This video was posted July 2018. UA-cam lists it as 2 years ago.... 34:30-34:45 goes the exchange of "they'll find out" and "over the next two years" I'm just seeing this for the first time "2 years later"
I’ve never played DnD before but after watching a few campaigns (and especially after this one, they do really good with their descriptions/storytelling/rp, it’s almost like reading a book), I’m really enjoying it. Shame I don’t know anyone who’d play it with me, or who’d even know how to play😂guess that’s what UA-cam and people like these guys are here for. I can live vicariously through them.
Are you ever going to be releasing: 1. The races and subraces unique to Aerois (Guardian, Wild Elf, etc.) 2. The subclasses unique to Aerois (Arcane Chromat, etc.) 3. The lore stuff you have collectively written about Aerois (like Kim's way overboard description of the genasi city) Just wondering because I would LOVE to run a campaign set in Aerois, and all that stuff is crucial for it.
When I stopped playing RPGs for about two years, I also stopped watching Aerois. It was hard to watch people having fun with DnD while I couldn't. Now it's time to come back to this amazing adventure and watch it from beginning. Mark is awesome DM and he has one of the best players with bunch of charismatic characters

I'm officially hook and excited for this.
Trott's role playing is amazing. I love every character he plays
He does a lot of casual role playing on his yt ch
Right? I always route for his characters (Aqua Mamba, "The Shoe", Lucius, etc.). He does such a good job on them. Good voice acting and improvising! And he's just hilarious, all around. The whole cast is great in their own ways, but he's platonically got a special spot in my heart. Lol.

Can't wait till its ready! I'm gonna buy it.
Chris Trott wants to play something new, first turn throws a dagger at a nearby enemy
Josh Angrian the dice realise what he is doing and end he relaps
Old habits die hard.
Hear hear!
27:27 no one laughed at Tom's Joke ;-; (For those who didn't see campaign one, Tom's first character Reynard named his crossbow Wilhelm)
15 min in and I'm in love with Trotts Character and Marks Storytelling
I've never played dnd I have the first book and a couple others but not actually dnd books.
Idk.
My dad loves dnd but he is getting too old, his memory is foggy and he just passes out randomly..
I'd love to get a beginning set just to play with him..I get the concept but I just know that would mean more than anything to him.
Thanks so much for everything.
You people inspire me, and I wouldn't ask for anything more,
I doubt you will see this but I neede to say it.
Go buy a starter set bro
Play with your dad. Start small, it doesn’t have to be an elaborate game. Try a one-shot to get your feet wet. My biggest regret after my dad passed away last May is that I never played with him. I know he would have adored D&D.
Did you play with him?
Watching Mark DM has given me renewed appreciation for the amount of prep and detail that goes into running games.

As a first time viewer of any DnD campaign, and someone who is just getting started with the pasttime, the most striking parts of this for me were Lucius's hilarious mutterings and exclamations, as well as the DM's incredible ability to make all kinds of sound effects with his mouth alone? Omygodss ryttt!?!
Lol you predicted the future
nickolie flippo bro chill
nickolie flippo i don think that’s what they’re doing nor does he meant it that way
@ Mark has been playing for a long time and this is sorta his full time job now.
So sad I missed the live episode but I'm SO PUMPED FOR THIS
I would so love being in or DMing for this group.

ArlanKels I'm sure if there were real problems, they would've solved it.
Go, go, go, Lucius you know what they say! Hang on now Lucius you'll make it some day! Sha la la Lucius you're doing fine, you and your dreamcoat are ahead of your time.
That play was fucking ridiculous, "guards cease him, lock him in a cell! Throw the keys into the Nile aswellllll!"

After seeing the character reveals I wasn't sure I was going to like this one but you proved me wrong.
Um, idk if it is a bad place to ask this but,,,
I loved Mark's appearance in Critrole and find his style of playing dnd highly entertaining so i came here! Just mentioning it if anyone has wish to do it, idk (and maybe if there are many of people like me, we could group and pay someone to do this? i'm not sure if it's a thing for which you can pay but i'm pretty ignorant so maybe?)
Have a nice day and thank you for your attention. ^^' (ugh sorry for my terrible english i'm,,, i'm bad at it heh,,,,)

Yo! I just started this DnD podcast on Spotify. I went to UA-cam searched DnD and this comes up!!! I am SO happy I just found this!
Well... after spending all of last week watching the last few episodes of the Lightfall campaign, then sitting through the videos leading up to the stream, I have to say... it was all worth it.
Don’t forget the Chroma sorcerer subclass hopefully being put on DnD Beyond at some point, considering the sponsorship.
love it when the dnd sinks in like how Altheya is on the verge of sinking in right now, and Aerois is gonna be SINKING so hard oh geez im so excited to rewatch for the confrontation, the book and the coin 👀
also the corridor, the storm, hatsune miku and the final planet omg i freakin love this show

Rewatch started after the finale. 5 years...
On a rewatch right now.
Kim: "THAT'S OUR HEALER"
Me: "HAH!! SHE DOESN'T KNOWWWW"
Quill is definitely my initial favourite character! >u
I watched it live, it was a great opener, and a FANTASTIC way to start the new campaign.
Are you ever going to be releasing:
1. The races and subraces unique to Aerois (Guardian, Wild Elf, etc.)
2. The subclasses unique to Aerois (Arcane Chromat, etc.)
3. The lore stuff you have collectively written about Aerois (like Kim's way overboard description of the genasi city)
Just wondering because I would LOVE to run a campaign set in Aerois, and all that stuff is crucial for it.
Yes, the intent is to make an Aerois Campaign Book with stuff in it.
Any likelihood that any of it reaches DnD Beyond?
When I stopped playing RPGs for about two years, I also stopped watching Aerois. It was hard to watch people having fun with DnD while I couldn't. Now it's time to come back to this amazing adventure and watch it from beginning. Mark is awesome DM and he has one of the best players with bunch of charismatic characters
