Horrible Histories did a 'Maximus' advertising olive oil. Loved Master and Commander, and the Water Diviner, bloody near cried through so much of that. When the young Turkish widow asked him if he is British, and he says Australian... tears. Nice bit of tidy riding in it too, nice tidy horseman is Russell Crowe.
Horrible histories has a song and video with a smug blaque person in it singing "we've been here from the start" saying they had been in Britain forming and shaping British history from the start
It was my understanding that, because of the exquisite level of authenticity, "Master & Commander" was too prohibitively expensive for the studios to make a sequel. It's authenticity was both its genius AND its downfall.
I once had lunch with Russ. Well, he was at the table next to mine in a cafe once. That's my exciting celebrity story. In all seriousness, though, it was pretty cool how little anyone cared. He lives around here, so it's not uncommon to see him around. Everyone in the cafe barely seemed to notice him, he was just there with his family having a nice lunch.
Mr. Crowe, my mom just loved your voice the first moment she heard you in Gladiator. My mom has passed away but I can still remember how she enjoyed the movie.
Transcript of the conversation between Peter Jackson and Russell Crowe regarding Lord of the Rings: Crowe: "Yeah?" Jackson: "Awww... nah, yeah." Crowe: "Nah? yeah, nah." Jackson: "Yeah, nah, but yeah, nah." Crowe: "Sweet as bro." Jackson: "Chur cuz."
The actual truth of gladiators and how much closer they were to professional wrestlers than duelists to the death (most of the time) is very interesting to get into. The way they were split into different "classes" based on their body type and given specific kinds of gear, and matched up to each other very specific ways. Very RPG like in a way. Plus the fact the best known ones were essentially larger than life celebrities, endorsements, all that stuff.
That's so cool that he was able to read between the lines in his conversation with Peter Jackson and not be pushy. Couldn't have been easy if he was a Tolkien fan. He must really have a lot of respect for the art form. I hope he enjoyed the final vision as much as the rest of us did. 👏👏👏

I was totally blindsided by discovering he's a musician, I attended one of his shows in Italy and he was absolutely delightful to watch and listen.
Ren is amazing!!
Gladiator is one of the best movies. Everything about it, the music, actors, scenery was so right. Hero or villain amazingly performed so well. The fight scenes with the animals was spectacular. No wonder it won so many OSCARS!!! 🏆❤️
One of my fav actors! So talented and unique. Russell reminds me of my long gone brother. He looked a bit like him
We need more Master and Commander movies. Like a lot more. I wish I could go back in time and make the sequels happen.
Mr. Crowe, my mom just loved your voice the first moment she heard you in Gladiator. My mom has passed away but I can still remember how she enjoyed the movie.
Transcript of the conversation between Peter Jackson and Russell Crowe regarding Lord of the Rings:
Crowe: "Yeah?"
Jackson: "Awww... nah, yeah."
Crowe: "Nah? yeah, nah."
Jackson: "Yeah, nah, but yeah, nah."
Crowe: "Sweet as bro."
Jackson: "Chur cuz."
I couldn't really see him as any of the characters, maybe Boromir or Denethor, but Sean Bean and John Noble were both awesome in the roles anyway.
Showing love to Ren ❤
We need another Master & Commander. It's highly underrated and sadly it went up against LOTR I think.
Here for a fellow Renegade 🐰🕳️ What a lovely shoutout ❤
Extremely interesting. So forthright, genuine to the point with just enough back story when appropriate. Thank you, Russell Crowe. And thank you for entertaining me for 30 years .
Master and commander was a great film, definitely deserves a sequel
Sadly, Peter Weir doesn’t do sequels. Need a new director, but who could the job Peter Weir did?
Thanks for the shoutout my friend 🌼
I wonder if he's still fighting around the world
Whilst making movies and singing songs with Tugger
Oi you scrouter!
