- In this video, I discuss Ted Dekker's "The Circle Series", including Black, Red, White, and Green! I discuss my favorite and least favortie books in the series, as well as why I enjoyed it so much!
Thank you,I have had a few people mention these to me. I was afraid that the story would get lost in the Christian overtones, but you have convinced me to give them a shot.
The overtones are definitely obvious, but the story is really fun and engaging, and the themes are also very good. I hope you enjoy them.
Ted Dekker is probably one of my favorite Authors. I ironically when I was first introduced to him I didn't know that he was a "christian" author. I really enjoyed him and his work the entire chronicles of history is honestly a really great read and while I agree there is no mistaking that its religious fiction it isn't so much so that as a nonreligious person you'd be turned off. I recommend reading the Paradise trilogy next. you can read it in any order but I recommend Showdown, sait, then Sinner. I consider this series the prequel to the circle series, but in a way that you don't expect.
Really interesting, I’ve heard of Ted Dekker and never looked him up really. May give it a shot some point now.
The blend of political thriller and Fantasy is probably the best selling point. I hope you enjoy it!
black was so engaging how he described everything, it was so vivid to imagine. definitely going to finish the series this school year, great review.
Thank you for watching. Glad to find other fans of the series.
I read the original trilogy 17 years ago. I just found the “Beyond The Circle” set of (2) books… “The 49th Mystic” and “Rise of the Mystics”, the first of which was released in 2018. Since it’s been such a long time, I’m going the read the original 4 (saving “Green” for last), then continue on to the other 2. Thanks for your video, gave me a good crash course to revisit the series with!
I read Black when I was at a Christian reform school. Haha. I remember enjoying it, so I just got the whole Circle series omnibus on Kindle.
Great books i have read them many times
🤗❤️ YES, an excellent series>………To understand Billy……read …..showdown --Saint --Sinner……. In that order.
Love the series. I agree with you about green. It made the fantasy the real/ beginning and that was disappointing.
Thanks! Been looking for a new fantasy series to start and this sounds interesting.
I hope you enjoy it. Definitely a series I would categorize as a “page turner” in pacing.
Yes, I highly recommend these books. Start with black then red then white….and end with green is my recommendation then you also need to read showdown, Saint, sinner, because those also relate to characters in the Circle series ………reading, showdown saint and sinner will explain where certain characters came from that appeared because it’s not really answered in the series…….It is a very engaging series of books to read, and you’ll want to read it again …….🤗
I have this series as a single volume and am loving it.
🎉
This is my absolute favorite series. I've written a D&D campaign based on Red and White.
Reading it before I give to my fantasy loving non church going granddaughter! Good so far. Half done with Red!
Great review
Thank you for watching!
One of my favorite series of all time. Totally agree that Green is the weakest book.
I know this is an older video so you may have already gotten to them by now, but if you haven't yet read Dekker's Martyr's Song/Heaven series, then I highly recommend them. One of the books in that series is the best retelling of the Hosea story that I've ever come across.
I have not gotten to his other books yet, but I am interested in reading them.
@@jonathankoan I've read nearly everything he's written and the majority of it is fantastic. Favorites are the Circle series (and its YA counterpart), Martyr's Song series, and the Blessed duology. The last two series are not fantasy, but are just excellent, quick-paced contemporary thrillers. Definitely have overt religious themes, but quite enjoyable reads if you don't mind that.
And also the Paradise Trilogy and House.
Oh yes, I came upon the movie, REDEEMING LOVE, and then I had to read the book. The book is amazing. The movie is good. The book is amazing.
I dunno if this is my internet provider or yt fault, but 1080p quality is kinda.. not good tbh. Never heard of Ted Dekker except of the book& movie Three (2006). As i have nothing agains christian authors, i think it is hard to write a book and do not overflow it with your beliefs. Tolkien did it, but Carol Lewis- well, i really tried to read Narnia, maybe i will give it another chance, but my first contact was a failure
Yeah, this video didn’t come through as clearly as some of my other ones. I wonder why. Thank you for watching!
