Surprised you didn't mention the Countess in high persuasion. You start with a water and, with the ring, you can do Research Station and get 3 card draws, which is way more influence (on average) than the 1 point reduction of Helena, the 2 card draw mentat Count move (which then requires playing one of those 2 cards), or Paul's anemic 1 card draw. Pulling a 7-8 point influence buy on Round 1 isn't unreasonable with the Countess.
Which of the three flops did you mean? I agree she can be played high persuasion. My issues with Ariana are that she can be blocked at Research Station, whereas Helena cannot. And on top of that I run into problems getting enough spice for Heighliner and Breeding. If you're using water to go to Haga Basin + Great Flat, she might be lacking the water for Research Station. She does rock when you can win Imperial Basin, though. Not sure if you were implying that Ariana can go to RS with 1 water using her Ring, because she has to have 2 water to go there. Same as everyone else. The ability to get water with her ring is NIIIIICE, but going to RS is not inherently different for her than it is for any other character, except maybe Paul, who can Ring there for another card. Wow. I've played this game at surface level for over a year and in my group, I'm pretty dominant at it. I'd get slaughtered in a tournament. Good insights here.

It's where you get passive income from cards or tiles, like the spice from spice must flow or (in Ix) the solari from shuttle fleet. The income "drips" in without you having to do anything special.
