I like the quality of your videos! nice audio, nice cut&mix! I've played Dune on TTS few times and I couldn't stop thinking of this game. I'm gonna buy Hard copy of it for sure. Thanks for your great review!
This game never interested me, I'm not massively into battle in games and the look of it didn't seem too appealing. But after seeing you guys talk about it in multiple videos I decided to give it a second chance and now I've not only played the game (and loved it) but I've even read the first book in the series as well as watched the movie. A Dune fan is born!
First time I see one of your videos. I really loved your format. Keep thr good work! Amazing game by the way, you totally sumarized my thoughts about it.
Just want to say I’m relatively new to board gaming and i found your channel and love it so far! I agree with your thoughts, I absolutely love this game and for someone who is still learning a lot of board game mechanics even I picked up on this one pretty quick and caught on. I also agree that it works well for someone who is maybe borderline on games or wants something that’s just on that next level as mentioned. Keep up the great work and I’ll stay tuned in!
Hi Guys. I originally wanted to see a review on Dune Imperium a couple of weeks ago and somehow stumbled onto your channel. So happy I did :) Excellent job guys! I love the channel! The whole format is just so fresh and unique. The timing is perfect, the editing is amazing, awesome job with the b-roll Janis and the dry humour from other Janis is just perfect. I literally spent the last couple of weeks trying to watch all your videos. I started to get bored with most of the other reviewers out there. To a point where I started losing interested. But you guys brought the life and the fun and excitement back into these review videos. I love the fact that you’re a clearly very excited about playing board games. You can see it’s your passion and not just another job. Keep that energy. I’m now a subscriber and has purchased several new board games (including Dune) as a result. I know this is a relatively old video, but I thought I'd comment on the first one I watched. They are all great. I love the question format and I love the ranking system. So well thought through and such a refreshing take on board game reviews. Please don’t ever stop and I’ll keep trying to help every month with my subscription from South Africa. I also really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes video of how you guys make the videos and the though process behind it all. Thank you and keep making dad jokes Janis!
@@BoardGameHangover yes I have the expansion and the upgrade kit and currently are running through all the different characters to see if I can win with different strategies
After playing 10 games or so with 3 players, I gotta say my only complaint is how fast the game ends with only 10 turns (10 conflict cards) if you play by the rules. Which makes adding good cards to your deck in the last 3 turns almost pointless as you might never get to use them. I think mixing and using all conflict cards until a player reaches 10 victory points makes more sense.
Yes, this game is a race game - you won't be able to get all the cards and all the resources because while you try someone will rush to victory points. That's something that not everyone will enjoy.
Oh, a very very good question. I thought I could answer instantly, but I do have to think about it. First of all, they are very very (notice how I like to use two very in a row) different animals. This one is by far more accessible, but the other one is more thematic. So, let's say this, if I have 4 people and I have and option to get 2 more to play Dune (other one) rather than 4 player Dune Imperium. But since that kind of situation (not even mentioning COVID-19) will come very very rarely, this will just get played way more!
I wait this game arrive my home but I have question. I see people complain about balance of character in core box is inot balance? And next question if I mainly play 2 players When I should go for expansion?
I did not see any problems in the balance of the characters and there are quite few to choose from, if you think one is too powerful, don't pick it ;) At first I also only played with my wife and we really did not feel like we need and expansion. So I think it will be a while before you think you need one.
Rise of Ix and Immortality both are amazing. Gives the game even more depth and replayability the only issue is that it's much harder to teach it to new payers
Just found your channel and really enjoy it. Love the flip board answer to questions. I know I am in the minority but I don’t care for this game at all. Just felt very bland and not exciting at all.
Glad you like our content Jason! Yeah, as always it will depend on your personal tastes in games and experiences you have with them. What's usually the genres or games you go for?
Do you think this game doesnt have any flaws? For real? I like the way you do videos but after 7 games at this game , i have to disagree with you guys!
There are some flaws we pointed out and one that we didn't mention - the deckbuilding isn't too advanced. You can't really create big combos with them so if you're looking for a big deck builder system then this isn't it. What did you like&dislike about it?
@@BoardGameHangover Actually is a love - hate situation. I think the game is quite limiting, between the cards which tells you where you can go and the spots that are already taken, I often see myself justo going to best location that I´m allowed to go instead of making true decisions. Intrigue card are also too random, there is powerfull cards which allow you to turn a conflict in your favor and potentially win the game, while in the other hand we have a 2 Solaris card which is quite useless at a point in the game
If you are interested in better-looking components Direwolf games are creating "Dune Imperium: Deluxe Upgrade Pack" that will include minatures and trays. For now it's listed at $55.00
It's good that your video is methodical with a well-organized formula, but I don't think I know how you feel about the game emotionally. It's sort of like you're discussing safety features on a car.
First time watching you guys. Love the questions format! Keep up the good work because I will be back!
Just picked this up recently and I'm loving it more everytime I play it. Subscribed!

Looks interesting! Will try some day.
Also first time watching. Like your guys review style!
Glad you enjoyed it Ryan!
Super nice videos guys, quality and content wise they seem the same as the other top-dogs in board gaming yt community. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot!
I just ordered this game and now I'm even more excited for it.
You're gonna love it!
Great video! Your content is lit... and wow the left guy is so pretty it's unreal haha. Thank you!
Usually that much subscriber begging makes me do the opposite but I really loved your rating categories, they are extremely smart and practical!
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice channel you have there! subscribed! :)
Thanks Fanni!
Just got it!
Great video. Good pacing, banter, sound and editing. And it was informative.
I might buy the deluxe version of this game which includes all the miniatures. I'm in love with Dune's universe.
We're actually aiming the same thing. Would love to have the Delux version
@@BoardGameHangover Are they doing a deluxe version of the game with the upgrade pack included?
Yes finally someone who loves this game as much as I do
And have you tried it with the expansion? I mean, it takes it up to 11!
@@BoardGameHangover yes I have the expansion and the upgrade kit and currently are running through all the different characters to see if I can win with different strategies

Would you rather play this or the other Dune board game?

"Should you Subscribe!" and indeed I did.
Agreed. The Intrigue cards are either too strong or not helpful. It's distracting from the game.
It very much depends on the players. Some will enjoy this mechanisms and other really dislike it, but no doubt it gives the game a unique feel
I feel that it is the most thematic part. For me, it is what makes this a Dune game!
Must have! Spice must flow!
😂😂 you two are so funny! Seem like nice guys! Would love to play this with you! 😂😂👍🏽
Hah! Thanks so much. Where are you from?
I see the the upgrade pack is sold out, I wish they would do a deluxe version with everything in one box......
That does sound fantastic.
How dare they change the iconic cover worm from the original edition!!
Everything is better with sand worms!
To be fair it is on the first player token.. :D they just made him a bit smaller
Awesome review! Just bought is as a gift for my bro. Is it possible to buy external figures, etc for normal version?
That's an amazing gift! Yes there's Dune Imperium: Deluxe Upgrade Pack with minis etc

Hola, yo se que no van a entender mi comentario pero aun así quería expresarlo, me gustó mucho su video. un suscriptor mas de México.
¡Hola! No lo entendí pero lo traduje y ahora lo entiendo. Bienvenidos a bordo y muchas gracias.
Could you make a MUST HAVE boardgame list?
That's a great idea! We'll think how we can best present it
Interested what you think of the expansions that came out (I think they’re expansions)
Rise of Ix and Immortality both are amazing. Gives the game even more depth and replayability the only issue is that it's much harder to teach it to new payers

Like turning up the difficulty on the game
Just you wait til you get your hands on Rise of Ix expansion

@@BoardGameHangover I enjoy all kinds but my fav genres are deckbuilders, area control/dudes on a map and worker placement.
Haven't seen it anywhere but, are there sand worms in this game?
No, there's no mechanism for sand worm. Just the first player token and few cards have visualization of it
@@BoardGameHangover thats a bit disappointing

Nice you showed the 'card thing'. Big pass. And you want more cards?? Really?
