I can't believe he read this peom, "The Crocodiles Are Crying," in honor of Steve Irwin! It was the most sweetest and beautiful thing I've ever seen him do, and he did a wonderful job as Faramir, the gentler and younger brother of Boromir!
My birthdays February 22nd as well. When I was little, I was a religious Crocodile Hunter fan. When I found out Steve and I had the same birthday, my dad would take me to the market to get a pack of green cupcakes (my reason was green like a crocodile) and my family and I would sing happy birthday to Steve. Then sing happy birthday to me. The first birthday after his passing, I cried as I sang. 😞.
Steve Irwin was and will always be my idol. When I had heard he died I broke. This was the man who was indestructible. and now he's gone? Even to this day I cry when I think about him. At first it was nothing but gut wrenching sobs that never ceased, but now the tears come one at a time. the pain is there, but it is dull, as if I am slowly becoming numb to it. It will never go away, of that I am sure, but with enough time I might be able to see his face without breaking down...
He left a legacy for us all to fulfil, he was definetly a hero to many, but none more so than the animals. I look forward to shaking you're hand when my time comes.
Not only the crocs, i think all the animals are crying. He was a true champion for them, he truly loved and cared for them. Not enough people do. its been almost 5 years since this wonderful man left the planet and I hope that we have not begun to forget him or what he did. I, for one, never will. He was and is my hero. I remember seeing him in the Crocodile Hunter:Collision Course where he played a Game Ranger who had trouble with a gun totting farmer and her dogs and how he always cringed when she wistled for the dogs man that was funny and it was awesome seeing him at the memorial service giving the 'Crocodiles are Crying' poem man that was touching and memorable.
One day Steve Irwin I will meet you. Whatever heaven may be, I know you are there, waiting for your loved ones. And when I get there I can promise you that I will shake your hand and ply you with a million questions about your adventures. But until that day I shall simply say Goodbye old friend. I always wished I was a croc sometimes one day I would love to be like Steve Irwin I remember my grandma telling me a famous man by the name of Steve Irwin has died by a stingray he was the crocodile hunter and I was like then why was he after a stingray and she said because he loves animals and I was like I want to be him so then she said if you follow your dreams they may come true and they so slowly are and now you know that Steve is my idol and remember when he said not to do it well I already broke that rule cause I caught a few snakes already
