Some examples I can think of: - Siouxsie and the Banshees' last 3 albums - Pyramid by the Alan Parsons Project - Ten Out of 10 by 10cc - any Kinks album with JUST Ray Davies on the cover (like Sleepwalker and Misfits) - ...Very 'Eavy ...Very 'Umble has just Dave Byron - Fourth by Soft Machine - Head On by Bachman-Turner Overdrive
When it’s Elvis Costello or Bon Jovi or Joan Jett or someone else with the individual’s name in the band name it’s not that surprising that they would be featured alone. It’s understood that “the band” is just a backing back. But it’s far weirder when it’s Cheap Trick or The Rolling Stones or AC/DC and so on that are presumed to be equal members and then they do that.
Queen - Queen 1 or Made in Heaven AC/DC - about a half dozen albums with just Angus on the front cover Hanoi Rocks - Two Steps From the Move Waysted - Save Your Prayers ELO - On the Third Day Blondie - Eat to the Beat Foghat - Fool For the City
I have heard the same thing Martin mentioned about REM's Life's Rich Pageant album cover: it is a visual pun of 'Buffalo Bill' because it combines a picture of Bill Berry and a buffalo.
I would love a talk video about bands who never show up on their album covers, which are for example: Avantasia Axxis Bonfire Helloween (except almost all live albums) Iron Maiden (except one live-album and one compilation) Megadeth Sabaton
Pink Floyd discussion: Richard Wright was canned by Roger Waters, was hired as a session musician/to play on the tour by Mason and Gilmour when they reformed Pink Floyd, but wasn't made a full partner until the Division Bell album
According to Nick Mason, when Richard Wright was fired by Waters, his leaving agreement contained a clause in the contract that prevented him rejoining. So Gilmour and Wright had to be careful about how he was defined as a full member or not when he returned, until the contractual stuff was sorted out legally. Waters was suing Pink Floyd in this time period between reforming and the Division Bell so they had to be careful about all legal and contractual arrangements.
Tom Petty's Long After Dark is the same. I think the Byrds' Notorious Byrd Brothers checks the block cus Crosby is on the Recording but left the band before the cover shoot.
Late to the party. Love these shows. Sparks? Good one. Has anyone mentioned New Order Low Life? Stephen Morris, the drummer. Btw, that's the same with Foghat Fool for the City and later on their more recent release Under the Influence. Going to add the Edgar Winter Group They Only Come Out at Night, and the more obvious Rolling Stones' Tattoo You.
Great show gents! Mr. KK WW and I are still debating Bill Berry on the cover of Life’s Rich Pageant. After 27 years, you would think he would learn not to argue 😂
Jamie spent some time making that humourous Bon Jovi prop…and then Grant stepped all over his joke and completely missed it. 😂
yeah, Grant...say no more 🤔
that would a fail on my behalf 👎👎
I guess we can return to music on the next video.
Speaking of the Angels Doc Neeson is on the front cover of Dark Room and Night Attack
And Face to Face
@@user-kf3vq4bn7y Yes and Red back Fever in 1991 from memory always the focal point incredible front man

Three from Siouxsie and the Banshees - 'Peepshow' (1988), 'Superstition' (1991), and 'The Rapture' (1995)

The Jimi Hendrix Experience-Electric Ladyland. Just Jimi on the front cover.
Shocked nobody mentioned Adam and the Ants and that counts for all 3 of their albums

That's a great idea!
@@thecontrarians2438 A participant in this chat posted the idea, and I just repeated it.
Easier to name albums without just Angus on the cover.

Yes Crosby is replaced by a horse on the album cover!
I watch this channel every week really enjoy it but why all the hate for bon jovi

Keith is on the back!
About LowLife I read that when they toured Japan, the people assumed that Stephen Morris was the lead singer because of the cover shot.

We did say "partial"
@@Jamie.Laszlo Ah, in that case let me propose a new topic: Who is your favorite member of The Cult who is not Billy Duffy or Ian Astbury? 🧐
Scorpions Blackout, MSG 1st album (and many subsequent - not unlike Steve Miller Band) Queen Made in Heaven
the Clash London Calling
I always thought that was Rudolf Schengen on the cover of Blackout, but in recent years, I’ve been hearing it wasn’t him.
@@Duqsteel1115 Yeah, most people thought that, but it's actually a self-portrait of the artist.
ELO On The Third Day Nritish cover
Rick left the band because of Roger's narcissistic bullying.
