Every time I look and hold my xl voyager I get a nice warm feeling. Always been my favourite federation ship, always will be. Would have paid twice as much for this beauty!
Where theres an "absence of detailing" on the original model though, that got it right with the raised striping on the fan out/neck section, vs the recessed lines on the XL.
What gets me is how they ship them out with those alignment. One unit here or there is acceptable from a a business standpoint, put its way more than that. Still a very beautiful model
They feel they can get away with it, because people still buy them despite the flaws. If the consumers stopped buying them with the flaws, then they'd be forced to fix them or go out of business. But I guess I'm part of the problem, though. I just bought two XL ships. However, I bought them looking to do my own custom repaint projects, so the flaws don't matter to me. The ease of not having to build a piece by piece model, and the quality of the model molds were worth the price for me. I can paint, but my assembly and glueing skills are horrible.
Just how !!! Just how can they get all the decals perfectly lined up and everything and then just totally screw up the window THAT BADLY !!!! Well here’s hoping Diamond Select get get a Voyager made in my lifetime.
HEY HEEY i got mine 2 days ago, and its all true she is a beauty. Its probably better than the D. Weighty and solid to. Great details and paint. For space reasons i rotate my displayed models, this ship will be out alot. Im glade i bought it before you made me buy it LOL. Thanks Damien.
I received mine in 2017, I was a little underwhelmed by the detailing. the deflector was not an issue for me, But it is interesting that the "Sternbach" concept model has the missing details at a fraction of the size. including text, it really is incredible. Im glad I have it, It sits proud in my small collection
Thanks ! Nice modeling and good decals and red stripping, but no aztecking, poor secondary deflector, HUGGGEEE windows misalignment....Sorry Eaglemoss, but it's a NO for me at this price....
There was no aztecing on Voyager. There's some random panels that are painted in a different shades but other than that ya there's no actual aztecing like on the 1701 Refit. I don't like the window misalignment that I agree with. I did a proper repaint of the windows for my XL Star Trek Discovery Enterprise.

Oh yes, I was waiting for this review! In another review I was disappointed(windows, etc..), but this is my best choice as I don't really want to build my own with the really big revell kit
Window issues aside, this is the first XL model that really looks good. I picked up a small Voyager in-store. I think they improved the molding - mine looks better defined than the ones I've seen on UA-cam. Or maybe the zoom on the video makes it more obvious and the level of crispness doesn't bother me.
I miss the days when we assembled these models ourselves and the amount of detail and quality of the finished model was determined by how much effort the modeler put into it. Sure there was a learning curve, but one could make a model that far outshines anything I've seen from those pre assembled versions that are available today. But I digress. 😉🚀😉
I really, really don't. Those old models were terrible. More often than not the pieces didn't even fit together, or they were molded in such cheap plastic that the (required) glue would literally dissolve them.
Window misalignment big huge (no pun intended) issue with Eaglemoss ships and especially their XL ships. I don't know why they can't get the deflector dish right even with the details especially since they had the CGI model. They even got the shape of the shuttlebay wrong. It does NOT curve at all. The auxiliary deflector dish in the front of the saucer is supposed to be painted brown not yellow and it's even missing actually that's lame. They even missed the windows around deck 2 (below the bridge) and behind the bridge area itself too. IF I am able to get the XL Voyager at sometime I plan to repaint the windows properly and add detail to the deflector dish. BTW there's no real aztecing on Voyager like you'd expect on the Enterprise-D or 1701 Refit. All there is is just some panel lines painted a different color. If you don't believe me there's pictures of the studio model itself that you can compare it to.
Have to say that I am impressed I was a little sceptical when this video came up in my queue to be honest, but, it has converted me, actually thinking of getting it. Ian (Trekcatcatcat)
Sucks they still couldnt include the adjustable nacelles, but I think I will still go for this one out of the different options (and hope that the window issue is a unique thing)
Wow! Much nicer than the E and D. I love that the escape pods are raised unlike the E and the leading edge detail is awesome unlike the D and E. The Shuttle bay is also very nice. However, for $75 I want aligned windows and no paint errors.
At the price they’re asking for this ship , the misaligned windows make it a HARD NO !!!!!!!!! On this ship, its a shame cause i really wanted this ship.
Great model but the windows cannot be over looked they need to just stop molding windows and just paint them on. It's the reason I stopped buying eaglemoss but I will most likely be buying the XL Akira as those are painted and not molded.
Ive been wanting to dive into the XL models, but at $75 they are steep. But based on this video, i decided to take a dive with my favorite ship, Voyager(Defiant being number 2)and if i like this, i may ask for the Defiant for my birthday/Christmas
unfortunately, Eaglemoss, who sold these are now out of business... i really really wanted to have the small (5inch) Reliant to place next to my Enterprise A.
EAGLEMOSS, if you're reading this: FIND A WAY TO GET WINDOW ALIGNMENTS RIGHT!! This can't be difficult to do. Jesus. It's bothersome enough on the small models. There's no way I'm buying a large one with these issues.
I am kinda disappointed, that you didn't accentuated (is that a word?) the nacelles, they are supposed to move up during Warp speed, do they on the model? It's larger, more detailed, one would assume, that it does have movable parts indeed. And the brochure shows a picture, where the stand is applied in the back section, like with the smaller (regular) version. Is the brochure for the regular version, just shipped with the XL, or is it possible to actually display the ship in both "configurations"?
I think you're being overly positive here. The window misalignment is a significant issue, as is the lack of clear-plastic inserts for the bussard collectors and the fixed nacelle pylons. Maybe it would be more forgiveable if this were half-price? But compare this to the Art Asylum/Diamond Select models -- significantly cheaper models that are much larger, much more detailed, and typically influde gimmicks (like the Ent-D's saucer separation) alongside integrated electronics. Art Asylum absolutely SUCKS at getting their models out in a timely fashion, but when they're out you know you'll be getting the highest quality. Meanwhile Eaglemoss pumps out several dozens of these per year with horrible QC across the board. Seldom have I seen a better case study of quantity versus quality.
Do you have the ear of eaglemoss directors, or whatever? You should make a comment to them about the nacelles and how there should be some type of hinge system for them to go up into warp position or down into sub light.
I've got this model and I cannot get over the window misalignment on the saucer. Eaglemoss quality control is nonexistent and for £50 a pop, it's wholly unacceptable.
**Wonders how long it will take for IrishTrekkie to realize the XL Voyager faceplants out of it's stand if a leaf falls nearby...** Love the model, but the mount needs improvement. ;)
I've ordered a few of these ships when i can get them at a discount price. I have the Enterprise C, D and E in XL size. They all have misplaced window paint. If its not something you can live with, i would have to recommend not buying from this company. They look quite nice on the shelf, but if you want a model that you looks movie accurate right in front of your face with accurately placed tiny details, you'll have to build your own from a kit. I will say that some of the micro-sized details look quite nice like the decals on the ridges of the nacelles on Enterprise E and those were very accurately placed. The windows though... theyre all over the place.
Voyager was always wasted potential even if they didn't want to go the whole gritty, dark, serialized Battlestar Galactica route, but the Intrepid class is still always awesome, as is the technical details put into it.
Just bought this, my first model from eaglemoss. Wish I'd watched this before I got it, I'm waiting for a replacement because of the windows but given your's looks the same I'm likely to get similar problems with a replacement. Disappointing
The reason the paneling is so soft on the small one is because die cast doesn’t mould as crisp as plastic. A bigger die cast ship will have better detailing simply because it’s bigger. This XL would be great, if there wasn’t absolutely horrid window misalignment. I much prefer my Bandai Voayger to this, it’s infinitely better. But also a lot more expensive nowadays due to its rarity. imgur.com/a/DwTZ5e8
The Bandai version is very nice, only downside to it is the incandescent bulbs they used for the lighting, but it’s understandable given the time it was made. And easily fixed by replacing them with white LED’s, makes it look great.
ive Already brought this to add to my Starship collection Voyager the best model ship Chakotay should of been in command not Janeway no disrepect to the Captain
Not half bad, but sure as heck not great. The makers of these models are half assed in paying attention to detail. For a collector series and the money paid for these models, this fact really SUCKS.
how can people pay for these when the details are so bad, how are these painted ? Does it vary, if you purchased 10 of the same would they all be the same bad paint job?
I'm not impressed. You could buy a actual model, build it yourself, and get much better detail while maintaining the quality. And if you play your cards right, it will be larger AND cheaper. For what Eaglemoss charger I would expect much more detailing than what you get, certainly no screw-ups. But that's what you get when you let a machine do the work for you.
This is a beautiful model! Shame for the window alignment.. but the details are amazing!

Pretty much all of Eaglemoss' have windows misalignments, if there are windows. I don't see how they feel they can get away with it.

didnt know about the windows, ill wait untill they fix that, thanks for the tip
This is one of my favourite XLs! I have to blu-tac it to the stand though as it likes to lurch forward at the slightest nudge. 😬
