@@leojs5673 Well, as long as we're going to treat Joel as Ellie's "adoptive father" it is worth mentioning that in real life if you were going to subject a 14 year-old girl to a surgery that could kill her, even to save the world....you would need parental consent to do it anyway.
The fact that Joel's last thought before he died was of Ellie and that she was probably going to die right there just breaks my heart every time I watch that bit. I love the scene between Ellie and Tommy
The original plan was for Joel to say "Sarah" in his last moments, but they thought it was too on the nose in the end. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think there's any chance Joel was capable of thinking Ellie is going to die right there, nor do I think he could really have had the capacity to take in the fact Ellie is there. His brain would have been too damaged at that point to think anything at all beyond vague, nebulous thoughts
Ellie was truly Joel’s daughter it was thier last day together and they didn’t even know it she wanted to watch a movie with him and didn’t even get to do that absolutely heartbreaking
Look every daughter gets upset and angry at thier dad she legit was going to invite Joel to watch a movie and even if she was mad still she wouldn’t have been like that forever you can see when Ellie sees Joel like that when she saw like that and how he died she lost a part of herself as well she loved him they were just going through a a little rough patch
@PaulyGTv I mean, there's 2 points of view to every story, i looked at it like she wanted to forgive physically, say ''I forgive you'' but either way the story telling in this game was the shittest i've seen than any other game so far.
The world of Last of Us was always a cruel one. And because of that, I always knew anyone in it could die. I even knew it could happen to Joel, one day. I was ready if the day came. But he did go early and it does push the story in a direction. And it does put Ellie in a darker direction.
@ricardo demetrio alonso rojas I totally thought it was gonna be dina or tommy dying, but none of those would make sense. from a writing prespective, joel was the one that had to die to create the same amount of anger/sadness for the player to feel as ellie feels. we completely become ellie at that moment. and it was sad, but perfectly done.
@@joaosantos5503 They lied on purpose. In order to not have the story tainted and or easily predicted. They played it smart regardless of what you think.
You explained it so well. Not only that; in a realistic standpoint of an actual catastrophe like this, not everyone you love is gonna make it, let alone see it to the end.
@@lookingforahit1207 not really. We didn't see much of the torture. In twd we loose two beloved character in a more brutal manner. More loved ones watching, and brains turned into pudding.
Rafi_Sensei Glenn really suffered for about 30 seconds of his skull cracked and eye popped out. Abraham went out pretty quick. According to what I read, Joel had his shoulders and upper body beaten pretty badly off camera, and then that one blow that cracked his skull.
@@screwmuckduck8905 don't forget that Negan did some talking in between Wich made it worse for glenn. And Abraham, I mean he died a little faster. But having your loved ones to watch u die makes it worse. Ellie only really saw the final blow. But still savage all the same.
Well, looky here, actual grown ups in the comments section, instead of a bunch of toddlers, shitposting cause the player didn't react the way you wanted him to. There's hope for the world yet.
I think it’s pretty far for them to say it sucked the fun out of the game though just cause a character died. Like this legit happens all the time in a show or game dude. I don’t know why people like start hating so much cause of it. The game is by far no less fun just cause Joel died. He’s not even the main character and never was. Not even in Last of Us part 1 even when you play as him. It’s legit always been about Ellie as the primary official main character and basically everything up to this point sets up her being the person you are mainly focused on and even playing as now since she’s older. Like dude this is the reason why people hated season 8 of GOT too. It’s literally only because a bunch of people died that people liked and everyone was butt hurt about it and claimed it’s a horrible season just cause nobody really got a truly happy ending. Like I think that’s ridiculous. Not every show has fairytale endings man and I personally think the last season of GOT was amazing and did everything perfectly. Like literally the main reason people be hating so much is just cause there fav characters die or had like a not so happy ending and people are just boo hoo hoo about it. This game is no different. People are upset cause Joel dies and everyone thinks he went out in a lame way and even some people are complaining about Ellie’s relationship with Dina and it’s like just stupid. Most people were even judging this game before it even came out and it’s stupid as hell. Like Joel was always going to die in this game and it’s pretty obvious bro. I knew this shit before a trailer even came out for part 2. Like he never was gonna last through the whole journey man. It always was going to be more about Ellie and Joel’s part was just preparing her for the hard world before his time came. Like it was so obvious. He dies for Ellie to step up and be a grown ass woman and get shit done. Plus everyone is talking about Abby and her group like there just straight up bad guys. There just another group dude with there own problems as well and one of them is something Joel did to them or at least Abby that was severely horrible to the point it caught up with Joel and they want revenge. Like basically Joel kinda screwed himself over. That’s just how crap goes in a world like this man. Each group look after there own but you have to realize that once you fuck up on group to try and like protect your own or get supplies or whatever the reason, your gonna cause some serious problems in the future more then likely. Like I hate how Abby is seen as a bad guy dude. Joel is no saint either. He killed a entire base of innocent people for one life even if it was Ellie and didn’t care about them or there lives or who they have as loved ones and he was willing to sacrifice the entire human race basically to save one life. Like the Fireflies was truly a good group mainly trying to find a cure and end the virus once and for all and reform society slowly. I am kinda on there side on this. And they didn’t even do it against like Ellie’s wishes. She legit wanted it and offered it and Joel took that choice away from her and killed tons of people. Like if you really look at it man Joel is the actual bad guy and he probably did shit to Abby and her group too for his own selfish reasons not caring about consequences. This is what happens man. This is also why her relationship with Joel was getting rocking near the end and she was becoming distant. Like she knew Joel lied about the Fireflies and was waiting for him to eventually come clean and he never did and it was hurting her more everyday. He basically messed up everything. Like yes Joel would be a wanted man at this point by many people. He screwed up the chance for a cure and like killed many people.
When you have to write that much to say joel wasn't a main character. Btw it was about joel and Ellie. Not about the apocalypse. But he was a main character. Don't twist it
@Rodrigo Fernando Durá Espinoza another person who didn't play the game repeating the same old stale hater talking points. despite what your echo chamber on youtube might have told you, this game sold and reviewed very well and the franchise is by no means dead.
@@shannonmichael4773 Total BS. Joel WAS the main character of the first game! You seen him from the start of the game..you played as him for 90% of the game..what are you smokin to think he wasn't the main char? gtf outta here..
trust me guys... the story with joel is it's own entity. truth is, you will feel very different about many things, it's the most grey game i've ever played in mu entire life and i'm a pro dedicated gamer. I do love and miss joel. but i understand completely.. why it had to be so soon and the way it was done. just trust the story. and yes.. keep an open mind.
People are saying that the plot is "bad writing." I think that people are just upset because they didn't get the game they wanted, nor the ending they wanted (no spoilers) but I think in order to truly understand why the plot was written this way, you need to have/understand empathy, and also understand perspective. Which is easy for me cuz I'm an actor. I think that the game holds up a mirror of morality to both the player and the characters and makes everyone really question themselves, and if revenge is worth the risk of losing everything/ everyone we love.
Camron Baker Lol nah it was bad writing. Joel and Tommy were apocolapse vets by this point who have survived countless ambushes by being cautious but nah let’s just trust these strangers because the writers can’t think of a better way for them to find out its Joel. Don’t even get me started on how bad the ending is.
Just subscribed, you guys seem to have a pretty good community here, I kept an open mind and I just started my second play through, and can say this game is a masterpiece. All the feelings you have are valid but keep playing because it’s so worth it.
What I’ll say is not everyone gets to pick how they die. A lot of people want better for Joel bc of how much we all loved him, but in his world especially, he doesn’t get to make that choice... Given the reactions I would say they did a great job on it. I respect that they had the balls to do it that quick and brutal. And I’m liking that choice more and more the deeper I get into the game.
El Tigre Del Norte I feel that it did not make sense. In the first game he said to not trust anyone, but then here he knows that he is a wanted man yet still told them his name like it was nothing. I can understand why he dies, but hated the way they made them find out he is Joel. They could of made it with someone looking for him and shouting his name. That would have made it a bit more acceptable for me.
it didn't take me (steven) long to appreciate the risk it takes for them to kill a character like Joel. regardless, it's still a very sad moment. the story must go on and we can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Kirito61745 yeah I hear you but he’s been settled in Jackson for four years, on top of that who knows how long it’s been since he crossed them so you can’t expect him to have that in mind with every person he meets let alone someone he just saved. Also in their world what really are the odds that someone will find you years after you’ve wronged them. I would say imo him giving his name makes sense to me, but the chances of them running into Abby is definitely a Deus ex machina, tho I don’t think it’s a bad one.
Stikker Gaming most definitely. I was worried when I saw you cross your arms but like you said when you appreciate a character like Joel so much it’s horrible to see him go out like that. You were exactly like Ellie!! And now you can extract your revenge through her lol
i understand why everyone's mad because i felt that "i don't know if i want to play anymore" too. but it's still joel and ellie, that's still the story. ellie's anger and sadness over losing joel, how she lost him, and what they had is the whole motivation for the game.
Yeah and the point of the story is to make you the player feel emotionally connected with Ellie. You should feel that anger and use it same way she uses it. Myself throughout the entire game felt on the same page as her so for me it was the best game I've ever played. Never felt such emotions in a game before. I mean everyone upset about it is going through the steps of grief pretty much. A mature person will accept their feelings and think about them. Same thing irl when you lose someone, everyone wants something to blame.
@rockandrollfantasy86 so I'm not allowed to criticize it? You have your opinion, but because you don't agree with mine, you cry about it. It was terribly written. The pacing was shit. Characters aren't people anymore they're props now to moce the story along in an unnatural way to force it to end where the writer(s) wanted it to. You are just ignorant. The gameplay was great. 8/10. The story not so much.
It's during moments like this one, where it is important to point out that sporting equipment does not kill people, people do. I say this as the owner of a sporting goods store, which makes me a trusted expert.
Considering the fact that we were going to be playing as Ellie, and considering how brutal the game looked from the trailers, I fell into the feeling that Joel's arch was over, so he was my death prediction going in. I had no idea it would be like that or it would be so early in the game, but I was braced to lose him.
I felt exactly the same. Didn’t expect him to make it to the end of this game but taking him out that early and like that was shocking and I think I’ll grow to love the risk. -Steven
We’ve watched a lot of content over the years and having an open mind is something I feel we’ve developed. We’ve been LOVING the game. I’ll be getting part 2 of our play through up today and more up soon. Thanks for the sub!!!
I was contemplating replaying this at some point. Watching your playthrough has convinced me to do it. This game had such a roller coaster of emotions.
I cried through like half of this game. I still got teary eyed watching this playthrough! I just started playing it again on Grounded difficulty. I wanna prove to myself that I can get through it in the hardest way, but idk if I'm emotionally prepared to go through it again!

Awesome! A few tips for the next streams: You can turn up the volume of the dialogues separately. You can watch the first episode of other playthroughs to see how you can improve your camera movements. Take a look at Ellie's journal now and then.
The Last Of Us has always beein about very difficult moral dilemmas observing all sides of humanity. Part 1 also started with a tragic death. I guess in part 2 it was Joel's turn.
Not a gamer. First timing watching your gaming channel. I love storytelling. And the storytelling in this game is good that I just love watching my favorite reactors play. I can't wait for the TV series!
I feel like in retrospect, the line at the end of the first game about the necessity to always find something to fight for, was advice given to the player as much as it was to Ellie. And unfortunately I think a lot of people were not able to remember that through what happened to Joel.
I was also angry at first but as I went through the game I realized that's the point. They want you to feel as Ellie throughout, no matter what emotion. Good or bad. And for me, the game nailed that. I went from angers, sadness to acceptance. This game is basically all steps of grief.
“I felt angry” That’s what they wanted you to feel. As fans of TWD, keep playing the game. You’ll enjoy it. I’m up to, just to avoid spoilers, just finished Seattle Day 3. It’s be pretty damn good so far. You’ll get more Joel and it’s good Joel and Ellie.
I just finished the game and undestoon literally zero of complains. Even when you toss aside OF ALL THE GAME and consider only story(which is what makes people angry) I stil understood what Naughty Dog wanted to say. And i loved it
I am only playing about an hour to an hour an a half each day (I don't want to rush it). Friday (launch) - had to quit playing, to emotional. Saturday - (this scene) had to quit playing for the night. Sunday - regular day. Monday - Had to quit playing for the night. This is a really emotional game for me for some reason. Tonight was just regular game play. I am not ready for the next thing they throw at me (US).
@@viv12348 Agreed. So much of this game is reading between the lines, I think it's crafted so well. The first game was linear, with a twist at the end that provoked thought. I feel like this game has that feeling throughout. Turning off preconceived feelings and just let the game tell its story, and its great. Can't wait to play it again on harder modes to enjoy the great game mechanics more... but I need a break, emotionally.
@@viv12348 The issue isn't what they want to say, it's how they say it. Spoilers below: Forcing you to play as the character you hate for ten fucking hours only to find out, that she's still a fucking non-empathic douche who doesn't even feel the slightest bit of remorse even after all her friends are dead? And then you even have to fight Ellie instead of the other way round? Fuck that. After torturing Joel to death even though he had just saved her life, she's irredeemable and the attempt to make you sympathize with her completely fails. Imagine if they had made Negan the main character during the saviour war, trying to make you like him. I guess what i'm saying is, they tried to make us hate her at the start, but they went so seriously overboard with it, that the entire second half of the game just does not work at all. I don't mind the flashback telling us why she killed Joel, but everything after that is just a giant waste of game-time that just isn't fun at all.
I loved the game best game I’ve ever played.I love it when characters die they reminds me of GOT, it elevates other characters decisions and places a mirror of what reality is like. LOU3 in the next 7 years the wait already hurts.
@ricardo demetrio alonso rojasWell they have broken the records of Pre orders and is sonys best selling title this year so either way they will make a part 3
I wanted to give it a shot but when I first watched the reviews about the story and which characters die and the biggest elephant in the room Abby I was like fuck this game I'm not playing it 😭 😔
Boy ND are masters at story and chars, like that moment hit everyone so hard hell people are going through the same stages of grief one would feel for a real person if that's not a testament to how well the chars are i don't know what is. I both hate and love what they did, everyone thought it would be dina but to kill joel one of the most love male leads is insane. btw i took a 20 min break after i saw that for the first time and boy did i need and hug lol
"How can you kill Joel dude". This is exactly the problem with modern day gaming but also with movies & tv shows. Everybody feels like just because they are main and fan favorite characters that they should all wear plot armour. I for one think it's awesome they did this. They actually took risks.
i think that's a very natural question to ask in the moment a loved character is killed off. it's the ability to take a step back and let the moment set in and understand it is hard for some. it's something we talk about at the end and before part 2, which i will hopefully get cut down soon.
People would be fine with losing Joel. The style of story in this game alters the series' identity too much. Who would watch a TV series where season 1 is like Last of Us 1, and season 2 is like Last Of Us 2? People would say the makers didn't understand the direction they wanted to go with the series. It's the same thing here. Spoiler: Except it's designed to put people though 20+ hours of unsatisfying slog. It's really tone deaf to the fans.
dude joel survived for 40 years of an apocalypse he would not be this stupid and trust random people. This is just like game of thrones season 8 I dont wanna even play anymore.
Strap in. This game makes you want to hate people, only to later have to understand them and even like and respect their perspective which will conflict you morally. Then it just begins breaking everything down until you reach emotional devastation.
The shock and anger is exactly what you are supposed to feel now. Yeah you should be sad he's gone, but you are Ellie and Ellie, is angry. Ellie is furious. That is what its about at this point, pure anger.
Good on you guys for not immediately dismissing the game because of Joel dying like a lot of streamers are doing now. I hadn't seen any leaks but Joel dying in this game was something I always thought was going to happen and makes perfect sense, as you can't have an entire game with their dynamic again, they did that already and it was called pt1. I thought he'd get sidelined or killed so I wasn't really shocked.
From all the shows we watch over on the reaction channel, we’ve learned how to handle tough moments like this. For me personally, as a fan of risk taking I can totally appreciate a decision like this. I also went into this game with the exception that Joel wouldn’t make it to the end. -S
If you think everyone is mad because of just Joel's death then you are sadly misinformed. My guess is you haven't played the full game yet. Just watch and you will see why everyone is not happy with the game.
I actually really liked the game. I mean it's not the first one, but I never expected to live up to those standards. I expected Joel to go out early. Trailers all just seemedlike misdirection which they ended up being, and that is really the only gripe I have with the game. I like how the story unfolds in a way I haven't ever seen done before in games. Unfortunately I usually don't catch the livestreams on twitch, so hopefully you continue to upload the rest here on UA-cam. Look forward to the rest of your journey through TLOU2.
I just don't think it would work as well delaying it. and would make the plot up-til the death feel sorta meaningless. the death being the thing which kicks off the story is what was needed imo. I really liked the flashbacks. and they feel so much more meaningful because you know he's already dead.
@@Whisper2069 The Last of Us isn't a fairy tale, it's Naughty Dog's take on a realistic post-apocalyptic world. Joel's death isn't meaningful, it's not supposed to be. It's just another day in this universe. He let his guard down for one second and faced the consequences. I'm not saying I liked it either, I would've also liked more present day interactions between him and Ellie. But giving the fan base what they want and having another buddy up game between Joel and Ellie is disrespectful to the realism the series strives to achieve.
I’m crying, just seeing Joel get killed like that. I love Joel very much, since the the Last Of Us Part 1. I’m still heartbroken about it. It’s so fucked up how it turn out with Joel.
Appreciate you posting this here, and also appreciate the maturity of your community. A lot of people are upset cause the story doesn't go the way they had wanted, which is a bit stupid. Stories aren't supposed to just be fan service. I haven't finished the game so I don't have a final verdict on the story yet, but I'm enjoying it so far and I'm glad y'all are too.
So I think that a lot of people miss about Joel telling Tommie about how it went down with Ellie and saving her is this. Remember Tommie was a Firefly and for not a short period of time and went cross country with them. So there is a very good chance, including Marlene, of Joel killing a lot of people Tommie called brother in arms and close friends. And Tommie had to think about it on the ride back to town. But still chose his brother over that complex scenario. Blood is always thicker than water.
13:16 Obviously you ain't fine. I mean, you're _fine,_ but you ain't fine. All of us felt some kind of way with that song, and I'm all about the hardcore shit (hip hop and metal). Then again, Johnny Cash's "Hurt" cover...
I'm gonna probably look like an asshole for some of the things I'm gonna say, but I don't care. 19:04 - Not sure if anyone said anything, but the guy in the beginning playing the banjo on the corner is the actual composer for this game and the 1st, Gustav Santoalolla. SPOILERS if you haven't finished this video To the people complaining about how the beginning/end for a certain character turned out; I loved Joel as much as the rest, but in The Last of Us universe, not everyone can have an outcome like Eugene (stroke/old age)-- there's nothing that can change the way this turnout happened to make it as real as this experience/apocalypse can get unless you want it as cliche as it can get. Of course we all know if the cliche outcome happened, people would complain about that, too. As Bob from TWD show says, "It happened the way it was meant to, the way it was always supposed to be." You can't act like things were supposed to go the way you wanted them to go, that is absolutely silly. (MORE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF TELLTALE'S THE WALKING DEAD) Now people are trying to get a petition going to remake what has already been produced. What a joke. No one signed a petition when Lee died. and now there will be no more TLoU universe cause no one will ever want to play another one. They just killed their golden franchise for cheap shock and boring generic story filled with terrible characters that no one wanted.
@@Pir-o No other way to put this other than you're just wrong on all ends in my opinion. You can't discredit the hard work that went into this production and speak for everyone, just because you disagree with the narrative. Can't always have exactly what you want in a story that isn't your own. The story is far from generic as no one could have ever predicted the ending (or anything else for that matter). Let's not kid ourselves, when The Last of Us part III comes out, everyone bitching about it will play it, and or watch it.
Regarding Joel's death and the backlash. It does bother me. People are calling it lame, a betrayal, bad writing. I dont get it. The murder of Joel fits the harsh, real world driven narrative of TLOU. He led a shit life that came back to bite him in the end. It was lame and people should be upset. Not at the writers, but at the characters responsible. Its not a bad story, its just not the one that a lot of people wanted. They even showed his character progression arc when he stuck his neck out and saved his would be killer. Its a weird narrative double standard too. You dont hear that George R R Martin ruined GoT by killing Ned or writing the red wedding.
You missed supplies in house across from the rv you just had to climb up something from the side of the building and suppliers in another house climbed up a car to get to the supplies un rhe building
C'mon you guys are walking dead fans, you shocked by Joel's death? Lol. Just keep this in mind. No matter how much you love these characters, in this world everyone is NOT a hero. They all have blood on their hands.
In the moment he dies, yea shocked. The fact that he died, not at all. I know it’s long but I said I went in not expecting him to survive this game. Like it or not I can appreciate a good main character death. We’ll see how it plays out. -S
Some of the loveliest scenes in video-game-history in like Min: 1:50:25 + and some DUDES hated this game cause of this, cause it is "tO wOkE".. craaazy!.
There is no good or bad. In a world such as that one you survive. Joel wasn’t a saint, but that doesn’t mean he deserved that. He didn’t what any parent would do for their child in that situation. Because in reality no parent should ever have to bury their child, and Joel already had to do that with Sarah he was gonna go through that again with Ellie, not when he could save her. Was it selfish? Yes. Did he kill people? Yes, but everyone in the world has, there isn’t a single person in the world of TLOU who doesn’t have blood on their hands or done messed up shit. But when people are trying to gun you down, trying to get to you and your surrogate daughter you fight. Sure Joel isn’t a perfect person, but he’s still a good person underneath his flaws, trying to do the right thing for his community, friends and family.
For the people in the chat saying how its poor writing that Joel & Tommy would give their names to strangers because they are experienced survivors, I think its actually the fact that Ellie and the town life softened them . Essentially, opening up their compassion and getting comfortable is what got them killed. No way this happens to Joel when we meet him at the start of the first game...but he let his guard down...for better, or for worse.
I wasn't wrong thinking that you guys wil understand my feelings. That it is not bad writing , itis mazig but plays with your emotions just to feel the exact same thing that Ellie felt. I think it is brilliant and you guys are awesome. Great gameplay!
I know it sucks guys but give it a chance.. It'll make you feel things, like dark, evil and emotional things. I think that is what makes this game good, it's about revenge.. And what better to motivate you than losing Joel!
I don't think Neil druckman deserves half the Shit he's been getting from fans who wanted it done there way, they didn't make the game, could the joel situation have been handled better and more respectfully of the character? Sure! but let's not forget they live a brutal world and all will be explained through the story, big fan by the way!

people who are mad about it will always be the loudest people in the room, or chat in this type of situation. it will take a minute for them to chill but as long as it's not trolls, we welcome the people who are disappointed in it. not everyone needs to like the same thing or agree with the outcome. we are enjoying the game very much and can hopefully be done soon.

At least in GOT you can see the build up. Like with the Red Wedding. You can sense something ain't right, and you can see the pieces fall into place as to why Robb and Cat were murdered, as fucked up as it was, but this was just so so wrong. It makes it even worse thinking about what Joel survived through in the first game only to be killed off in such a horrific and maddening way. I didn't even shed a tear for Joel until Ellie went to his house because I was too out of my mind with anger. @@maxo692 What? Literally when Tommy says Joel's name in front of her she reacts surprised and stunned? That, mixed with her earlier conversation with Owen easily allows you to assume that this group was searching for Joel (maybe Ellie). The rest of the game provides enough justification for her actions. Just because it didn't happen in a linear way and had a 'lack of build up' doesn't mean that it makes no sense or that its a bad narrative
when i want to move fast i am deliberately moving like that, doesn't bother me but even when i try to most it slow, it moves fast. i need to mess with the sensitivity.
I understand what naughty dog was doing, and am pretty upset that alot of gamer aren't seeing it.... there are two sides to every story... i remember Negan saying that to his group, Rick is the villian... really puts things in perspective.
I mean I got it pretty quick-the dynamics of this world. Joel may look good in our eyes but he is just one perspective. He’s done what he’s done to stay alive and for sustenance, and for love and also for revenge. Ellie and Abby are no different in this regard. I do think they could have done a better job at introducing her. Maybe start off with her and her relationship with her dad or maybe planted that seed of her in an audio log at the hospital in the first game. Abby serves as the intro and then we hear Joel talk about what he did to save Ellie. They could have done that better instead of trying to surprise us and now more than half the fans are disappointed or infuriated. Cuz anytime I’m put in the shoes of any character I do see why they do what they do but there wasn’t shown much for Abby and I was like woah, any context of why she killed Joel?? It’s implied she wants revenge for something, maybe former Fireflies? So I got that part but there wasn’t much explained.
@@screwmuckduck8905 I do see your point. It would have been better to maybe start the second game off with that hospital connection. I don't think the message was executed the right way, but... i just think the game dosnt deserve the review bombing. I hope that if it becomes a trilogy, they use what people didn't like and make the most amazing finale possible...
Daniel Anderson yeah, unfortunately most fans don’t wanna sympathize with a new character or see what this world is all about. And the whole show ended with Ellie. My guess is Abby wouldn’t be in the third title given how her last appearance was riding off on the boat with Lev. I really liked her character though. I like Ellie and Abby both in their respective ways though Ellie is still a bit clouded and less reasonable than Abby. Also it’s like Joel forgot what kept him alive for 25 years. Was this lazy writing? Maybe the community in Jackson made him feel too safe and he’s gotten used to routine patrolling.
8MoreThan92 it is part of the point, people are also mad about the identity politics making their way into games to be “inclusive.” Which doesn’t make sense cuz TLOU wasn’t about wokeness back in 2013.
What happened had to happen for Ellie to grow, otherwise the tension would be so much less just waiting for someone to save her. I got a feeling it's going to be dark as shit given this all seems to be a spiral of revenge and that leaves no-one happy in the end.
No it didn’t have to happen for her to grow. That’s just a lie your telling yourself. A good writer wouldn’t have to do that to show Ellie growing. Could have done more with their relationship and then have a tragic or heroic death scene with Joel later in the game but naw we need our expectations subverted because that’s good storytelling ain’t it?
It did not suck the fun and excitement for me after Joel died it was sad at first but still cool moments and great character moments and drama after Joel died
Joel gets shot in the leg at point blank range and the first thing he yells out is Tommie's name, to see if his brother's OK. Gotta love Joel!
also nice to see how quick they healed.
Circle 25 ?
Yep, killed hundreds of people without remorse and robbed the world of its only shot at a cure, you just "gotta love him"
@@leojs5673 Well, as long as we're going to treat Joel as Ellie's "adoptive father" it is worth mentioning that in real life if you were going to subject a 14 year-old girl to a surgery that could kill her, even to save the world....you would need parental consent to do it anyway.
@@MajorBall ellie got her face kicked in and tommy hot pistol whipped multiple times. their faces look fine in the next scene
The fact that Joel's last thought before he died was of Ellie and that she was probably going to die right there just breaks my heart every time I watch that bit. I love the scene between Ellie and Tommy
He got to see how fiercely she loved him tho, that thought gets the waterworks goin for me when i watch that scene
Oh believe me, with all those blows to the head, he wasn't thinking much at all
The original plan was for Joel to say "Sarah" in his last moments, but they thought it was too on the nose in the end.

@PaulyGTv Heartwarming? Ellie said i can try to forgive you.. but never got the chance. I think you missed the whole point of the cutscene.
Jay. ^^
@PaulyGTv I mean, there's 2 points of view to every story, i looked at it like she wanted to forgive physically, say ''I forgive you'' but either way the story telling in this game was the shittest i've seen than any other game so far.
Jay. cry more.
@ricardo demetrio alonso rojas Bruh the trailers make it look like you play as Joel and Ellie. They fucking lied to us
@@joaosantos5503 They lied on purpose. In order to not have the story tainted and or easily predicted. They played it smart regardless of what you think.

João Santos you do play as joel and ellie for a portion of the game. it’s just that it’s in past tense.

He screwed up the chance for a cure and like killed many people.

trust me guys... the story with joel is it's own entity. truth is, you will feel very different about many things, it's the most grey game i've ever played in mu entire life and i'm a pro dedicated gamer. I do love and miss joel. but i understand completely.. why it had to be so soon and the way it was done. just trust the story. and yes.. keep an open mind.
I've already watched the full game movie and I have to agree. The story makes sense and is totally worth it. I hope they continue the play through.
Very bad writing.

Thank you for reuploading it here, i couldnt watch the live stream. I always enjoy your reactions.

-Steven

There are, but they're just flashbacks Ellie has.
I just don't think it would work as well delaying it. and would make the plot up-til the death feel sorta meaningless.
the death being the thing which kicks off the story is what was needed imo.
I really liked the flashbacks. and they feel so much more meaningful because you know he's already dead.
The whole purpose is to have unfinished business and to have Ellie consumed with the need for revenge.
honestly the way it was done just made me hate the one that killed him in the first place, it was very disrespectfull imo.
@@Whisper2069 The Last of Us isn't a fairy tale, it's Naughty Dog's take on a realistic post-apocalyptic world. Joel's death isn't meaningful, it's not supposed to be. I'm not saying I liked it either, I would've also liked more present day interactions between him and Ellie. But giving the fan base what they want and having another buddy up game between Joel and Ellie is disrespectful to the realism the series strives to achieve.

The horse's name is shimmer in case you missed it
I'm gonna probably look like an asshole for some of the things I'm gonna say, but I don't care.
19:04 - Not sure if anyone said anything, but the guy in the beginning playing the banjo on the corner is the actual composer for this game and the 1st, Gustav Santoalolla.
SPOILERS if you haven't finished this video
To the people complaining about how the beginning/end for a certain character turned out; I loved Joel as much as the rest, but in The Last of Us universe, not everyone can have an outcome like Eugene (stroke/old age)-- there's nothing that can change the way this turnout happened to make it as real as this experience/apocalypse can get unless you want it as cliche as it can get. Of course we all know if the cliche outcome happened, people would complain about that, too. As Bob from TWD show says, "It happened the way it was meant to, the way it was always supposed to be." You can't act like things were supposed to go the way you wanted them to go, that is absolutely silly.
(MORE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF TELLTALE'S THE WALKING DEAD)
Now people are trying to get a petition going to remake what has already been produced. What a joke. No one signed a petition when Lee died. (only game character I can name on this channel without being overly spoilery) I still cry when Lee dies at the end and probably never will stop, but that's the story people. Take the L, it happens.
and now there will be no more TLoU universe cause no one will ever want to play another one.
You missed heath before abbey went through the fence that had infected on other side of it
You did not look through the draws in the other side before you went through the crack in the wall after you emptied the safe
People that wanted some end of the story Boromir type death werent being realistic.
You missed supplies in house across from the rv you just had to climb up something from the side of the building and suppliers in another house climbed up a car to get to the supplies un rhe building
Please do not stop completing the game 📢💔
Oh we are 100% going to finish. I’m just behind getting the streams posted. We are going again tonight on twitch.
Seeing people playing this game unspoiled and not even knowing about Abby and Joel is actually really rare, it was interesting.
This game is perhaps the most brutal game Ive played
You missed a letter in the truck that you had to go up the top of to get in the building
That was the biggest bottle of...anything that i ever saw, that you were drinking.
Ha!! Full gallon of water.
I know what they were going for in this game. Vengeance will destroy you, and all that. Ellie still should have killed Abby in the end.
Some of the loveliest scenes in video-game-history in like Min: 1:50:25 + and some DUDES hated this game cause of this, cause it is "tO wOkE".. craaazy!.
Lets remember that Joel wasnt a perfect man. He killed lots of innocent people to get to where he got.
Nah, you know people are just gonna ignore that because JoEl gOoD, pArT 2 bAd. It kills me.
There was three things you could have looked at with the binoculars
Ellie knows she is immune that she can't get inflected that is not why she is lying to Dina you find out why in another part of the game
Never knew there was a trading card in the bar until now……..
I love this rollercoaster of a game
You need a playlist.
I wasn't wrong thinking that you guys wil understand my feelings. That it is not bad writing , itis mazig but plays with your emotions just to feel the exact same thing that Ellie felt. I think it is brilliant and you guys are awesome. Great gameplay!
Lesbian simulator part 2, last of us series is done.
Y’all still have my favorite play through of the game, basically went through the same range of emotions I did lol. Hope all is well with you two🤍
my favorite games of all time
Happy late Father's day
I know it sucks guys but give it a chance..
If you want to stealth kill a clicker do not push "L" all the way to the back ... push it gently so you walk slower but quiet. :) ( dont know if you figured that out ) :)
I got real "Jon Snow is dead" vibes from Steven right here.
I have the last of us part 1 and part 2 i done beat part 2 it is sad about joel
Joel's death scene really reminds of negan, without all the jokes do :(
1:01:20 wow you missed A LOT of goodies and interactions back in that area
Honestly I think all the whiney people rn will be quiet over time. I really liked Joel but I see why they wanted to make everyone angry. I dig both games. Some of y'all need to grow up or learn to walk away from shit you don't like. Not everything is a Disney or marvel movie 🤣🤣🤣
people who are mad about it will always be the loudest people in the room, or chat in this type of situation. it will take a minute for them to chill but as long as it's not trolls, we welcome the people who are disappointed in it. not everyone needs to like the same thing or agree with the outcome. we are enjoying the game very much and can hopefully be done soon.
@@NikkiStevenLIVE Im 29 who's paying bills and living life and not even a gamer like that anymore. I've never seen the internet throw a tantrum over a game like this. Again I'm a Joel fan but these haters have been dramatic since the leaks. Folks need to grow up or move on. I can't wait to finish too. Love watching the stream!
Have you finished the game
Not trying to troll I’m just curious, I finished it yesterday
@@SupaScary I mean, I finished the game last night, I really loved it.
Awesome! 😄😄
You missed pills next to toliet on sink
You guys are used to GOT. You're ready for this.
Jimmie Rudolfsson yes, let’s golf 🏌️♂️
At least in GOT you can see the build up. Like with the Red Wedding. You can sense something ain't right, and you can see the pieces fall into place as to why Robb and Cat were murdered, as fucked up as it was, but this was just so so wrong. It makes it even worse thinking about what Joel survived through in the first game only to be killed off in such a horrific and maddening way. I didn't even shed a tear for Joel until Ellie went to his house because I was too out of my mind with anger. I kept thinking, Joel can't be dead, what about the trailer where he says, "you think I'm gonna let you do this on yer own?" But I guess they lied to us.
@@-hasamastersdegreeinwumbol8565 if you didn't see jole's death coming after what he did to the fire flies in the first one then your kind of blind. I love jole by the way but he had it coming. He stole the cure from mankind
@@ojeknoble6860 no ones denying that Joel's death was inevitable, it's the way it happened and the lack of build up that made no sense...
Oh, I didn't know you guys have a channel for games. That's great, +1 Subscriber.
Abby is jacked! She is after Joel. Her father was the doctor.
tip, steven: you're not moving lightly with those clickers. you're pushing the stick way too hard, which is why you keep getting noticed
when i want to move fast i am deliberately moving like that, doesn't bother me but even when i try to most it slow, it moves fast. i need to mess with the sensitivity.
Andddddd absolutely none of this is THE point of the frustrations lol...
Eh, Joel getting his leg shot out and then living would have removed any chance of him being the one to save her from anything.
the ending is even worse...
This game is out already?! 😏
