It's important to remember that when an actor improvises a line that makes the other characters laugh, in nearly all cases, they have to shoot the other characters' laughter in a follow-up shot, setting up the camera to shoot in the opposite direction, changing lighting, etc. -- so the reaction to ad-libbed lines is usually not happening at the same time as the ad-lib (except in the case of a 2-shot or wide shot).

In movies, when there's a reverse shot and the actor reacts in a reverse shot, it's not a natural reaction because it's not usually filmed with multiple cameras due to the cost of renting another camera plus another set of cinema lenses (which is very expensive), especially in comedy, a genre that tends to be cheaper. Besides, placing two cameras on a set without them getting in the way and ensuring that everything is perfectly lit for both actors is challenging. Money, money, money. If it's the same shot, there are inevitable reactions, but if the response is in a reverse shot, it's acted, or it has nothing to do with the previous shot that was edited.
The Good Will Hunting one is real, but the camera shaking is difficult to see in the film - the scene shown in this video has been artificially made ‘shaky’. 🙄
With respect to the movie "Full Metal Jacket," I remember seeing a video biography on UA-cam about the actor who played the intense drill instructor (whose name I currently can't recall). It was a good biographical sketch, and additionally fascinating because you heard his "take" on this intense movie and had a chance to listen to a man who played a very intense and not likable character. Lastly, with respect to the mercurial actor, Vincent D'Onofrio, when you see him as a recruit (and what he DID) in this movie, and then view his performances in "The Law and Order" TV series, where he was a detective, he has certainly spanned the ages in doing a number of different roles that I thought he was very accomplished at doing.
I will say this, there are times when you are getting chewed out by a drill Sargeant that are hard to keep from smiling. They are few and far between. Most of the time you don't see the "funny" until hours later. And it is usually when you are a new recruit when you have to fight not to smile.
It’s a real shame that Meg Ryan messed with her face! She was so completely adorable and would have had fabulous laugh-lines to show for just how funny she was and what a good actress as well.

My wife was just getting the hang of English (she's Japanese). She couldn't stop laughing when I translated the line. STILL laughing...
Seriously, pls explain to me how all these "professional" UA-camrs seem to butcher names in any form of media, when the names are LITERALLY pronounced in said form of media.... For real tho? I feel dumb for even complaining, it happens so often
peter sellers legend
5:23 isnt he in breaking bad guy in the car? the twin mexicans
I actually enjoyed how you ended that
Apparently the friction on dirty dancing was so bad patrick almost quit the movie
The Hateful 8 one always hurts
Do the bathroom scene in Due Date. That’s one of my favorite breaks
R Lee Ermey.
And D´Onofrio is quite versatile! It may not be his best work, but I thought he was superb in the Daredevil series
The Austin powers scene was taken from "The Great Santini "with Robert Duvall
Great video.
5:26 That bully was smart. Just leave your pride and dignity on the ground and just RUN.
I swear the guy who asks about the mini-pizzas in MIB 2 looks like Robert Picardo
Excellent.
The fact about the guitar in Hatefull Eight isn’t true, Kurt Russell has said so himself
I'd loveva link, plus, I'd like to know what you edited about your original comment hmmmm? Lol 😇
The biggus dickus scene was not any kind of blooper. They were not trying to keep straight faces. Those are the faces of people ACTING like they’re trying not to laugh. None of that looked like actual genuine stifled laughter. So gimme a break.
Right! They are not even extras, they are comedy actors whose names are in the opening credits - Charles McKeown and Chris Langham.
Damon's acting and laughter in Saving Private Ryan was so fucking bad, there's no way anyone tought that was legit a real laughter to be left in the movie. He just couldnt do a better take!
GOOD JOB
I knew Cassian was laughing but taught it was meant.
The most annoying sound in the world by Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber is the funniest part of the movie.
I wonder if Kurt Russell reimburse for that guitar? 😂
2:06 I don't blame the actor breaking character one bit. I lost it completely when Peter Sellers started punching the hell out of his other arm 😂
These scenes were not “kept in the movie”. They were added to the movie.editing is a process of assembly, not of elimination
Lmao Swayze is so pissed
A mistake: Happens
Quentin Tarantino: “Eh…keep it”
That last one is part of the great tragedy of that characters arc, where you see a character with no ill intent that couldn't hurt a fly, being transformed into a killer only to take his own life due to the sheer insanity of it all. It may have been unintentional, but to me it is a crucial part of what makes that charcter and that movie great.
For me, it was that they could not deviate from the norm. Everyone just HAD to push that guy into a box. But that box was for typical people, which this kid wasn't. He ended up dead because he was undiagnosed.
@@orionred2489 that too is an aspect of this characters development. Someone outside of the norm being pressed into a rigid system that requires of you to function in a certain way. Collectivism at its worst, but needed so that society as a whole may survive at times ... well not in vietnam or iraq or afhganistan or any other none territorial defense situation. Those are rather so ressources can be traded with farorable prices and shit that was produced sold to pacified markets.
@@kinngrimm I understand your point. I disagree with the idea that the needed outcome was for every person who was randomly chosen to be forced into the sausage press. The Marines would have been better off without all of that mess. There was a problem telling intentional non-compliance with neuro problems, so they just punished him.
@@orionred2489 I guess nowadays armies which are not currently in a war, have the luxury to better screen their soldiers for mental abilities or lack of them. We are still in the process in learning how the brain works. Just this year i saw one science news that layed out how newly found parts of brain cells were researched and how many more things they still don't understand about the brain. There are also quantum effects being researched now that take place in the brain. I don't really know this stuff in detail, just heared about it.
I just remembered because back then it gave me the chuckles as i was just then in a debate with a transhumanist who claimed how easy it would be to up- and download ourselves one day onto chips. Besides that there are signs pointing to materials used may have effects on the entity, meaning it makes a difference of the nature of the beast of it is based on carbon or silicon, biological or inorganic. Which would lead to a change in persona due to the transfer from one medium to another. So whatever was downloaded will not be the same entity after it is uploaded again. Anyways :)
@@kinngrimm The military will not waste the time trying to diagnose someone, nor do they actually care about anyone.
Judy Garland got slapped by the director because she couldnt stop laughing at the cowardly lion.
I loved A Fish Called Wanda. I totally understand why she was laughing.
Cant believe tommy lee jones almost cracked a smile.
6:43 Apparently Mike Starr's annoyed reaction was real too.
And there's a fresh one if you mouth off again 😂😂😂😂
