Another fascinating and excellent video! The cancellation and the Sudan overprint perfectly illustrate how philately shows the dynamic way in which history unfolds and modern-day nations are intertwined.
Watching for the third time!!! You will become a 'renaissance' philatelic legend my friend!!! If you are not already. Cheers from QLD Ozfugginstralia!!!
Let me add my voice to the chorus rejoicing at the advent of season 4. I have been catching up with the #philately videos lately, enjoying them a great deal. This is a whole other level. Great job as always. Thanks for putting it out.
It's great to see the start of a new season, and what a start!! A fantastic video. Being able to learn history from stamps has always been a passion of mine. Now I need to go check my Egypt collection. Great video Graham.
So glad to see you're beginning another season of Exploring Stamos!!! I found this channel about the same time my Father passed. I've inherited his collection, and your videos inspired me to get back into the hobby. So a huge thank you to you, Graham. I would love to learn more about Indian philately.
Our country is vibrant and culturally very diverse. Indian philately bears testimony to the fact. I would look forward to a series on India Philately by the Philatelic God.
It is good to have you back. I have always enjoyed your videos. They are the most informative and interesting videos about stamps on You Tube. I have a large collection of Egyptian stamps, along with the stamps from Sudan, and this video has shown me things that I never realized.
I am so happy to see another season of Exploring Stamps. Ted (Ted Talks Stamps) has more jokes than Graham but Graham's jokes are funnier because they are inserted into the narrative and delivered with a straight face. Exploring Stamps has been the best philatelic channel on the English-speaking interweb since its inception. The editing at the start of each episode is excellent and in Season 1, I wondered how this guy could afford to travel all over the world for stamp videos.
Hello Graham! I’m so happy to see a new season of Exploring Stamps. Although I enjoy the #philately posts, these are the best! I’m sure I represent many folks who find your posts a huge enhancement to the enjoyment of their collecting. Nobody is doing what you are doing and it is so appreciated. I really like this episode because you simply explain the postal history of the name changes of the country and would love to see more of that. I’ve been struggling (and reading a lot) to understand China stamps and how to best organize them in my world collection albums. I have a suggestion for a future episode. Please explore and explain confusion regarding souvenir sheets and mini sheets. I have some examples which I believe to be legitimate examples and graphically worthy of a space in my collection. Great Britain has issued great examples of these. Then there are really ugly, postally questionable sheets designed and produced by third party companies just to make money. Most of these are graphically horrendous and I’m currently deciding whether to get rid of them. Unfortunately there are some countries that only issue these now. I hate them. I also have a small stack of sheets that look like the aforementioned but are attributed to completely bogus countries. I really hat these and may just burn them! Anyway, welcome back and many thanks. Steven
i have the 2 thousand green uncancelled, got it precisely because its so iconic and a perfect work of engraving. my collecting is all about finding the most iconic stamps that show off an aspect of the nation producing it, with aesthetics that work.
This is something that I have considered… collecting icons in mint because of their stunning engraving work. This would certainly count as a must have, nice !!
Ah, just when you thought I wouldnt come back, I start a new season 😅. I will be doing a mix of season 4 episodes along with #philately episodes to keep it balanced, more to come!
Wow! That intro was incredible! If COVID wasn’t a thing I would have believed you went to Egypt to start the season off! I am beyond excited to watch season 4! This stamp and the overview you have was so fascinating!
I first started collecting stamps and FDCs about 25 years ago, but then I lost the bug. However, I recently picked back up my old collection and got bitten by the bug again. Your videos have helped me feed the bug and I thank you for that.
Thanks so much for this great video, Graham. Fantastic intro, too 😀 All your episodes are worth watching, but this one was special, even by your high standards. So excited to see what the rest of season four has in store for us!
Graham, so happy to see you start a season 4 and return to your roots! You are the ultimate philatelic history teacher, presenter, and videographer. Would love to see you explore Irish and Swiss philatelic history. As always thank you.
Best clip yet! Had to immediately crack open my Big Blue album to search or the British Forces in Egypt issue. Always a thrill to see my collection in a new light. Well done.
I am so excited to see this video of Season 4! Glad to be able to learn more about stamps in an interesting manner. Waiting eagerly for more episodes :)
Another amazing and captivating episode! Even if I love and collect Egypt stamps, your episode made me go and open the catalog and start to search and look at them as they’re were just added there lol…Thank you for keeping philatelic episodes coming! 😊🙌🏻
For a little while I didn`t know if you were going to do another season. But you did and I am so happy about it. Nice video to start it off! I would really enjoy a video about Seychelles philately or North Borneo philately.
I was wait for the new season!!! It has really fulfilled my expectations, Mr. Beck!!!!! You made me recall many things I learned about Egypt long long time ago. Thanks!!!
Welcome back! So happy to see a new season - a better camera for your head shots would be nice. The desk shots of the stamps and the close-ups are excellent quality!
Thanks Graham. I know these episodes require a lot of production, but I really do enjoy them. I am collecting 1970 (every country that released stamps from that year). I have all the Egyptian stamps from 1970 and they are quite beautiful. I bought the whole collection from a less than reputable dealer and he left out the two most valuable stamps. (Lesson learned and refund given). One of these two is a sphinx stamp. The other is a painting called Veiled Women--it is a rather large stamp.
For a moment there I thought I’d hacked into the new Indiana Jones movie! I have a few of these stamps, but it was only when you lined them up that I appreciated the diversity in their borders. One of my side interests is Syria, so I see a bit of UAR action too. Welcome back, ‘classic’ Exploring Stamps. Cracking first ep!
Wonderful production! I recently acquired three of the 1927 International Congress of Cotton Stamps and three of the InternationalCongress of Navigation stamps as the foundation for my first Topical collection: “Bi-color Engraved Stamps That Tim Thinks Are Beautiful “.
