This came up in my feed. Can't believe it has been ten years since this kit came out.
For $350 I could almost buy an RC B-17G and actually fly it. The prices of plastic kits have become ridiculous. Having said that this is a nice kit.
It is what it is. Thanks for watching.
Ooo! I have to build on of those... That's my beloved Pop in the co-pilots seat in the 390th Bombardment Group destroying industries from high above Germany. He came out of it a greater man than when he went in.
+Sam Godfrey The 390th is very special to me as I was a Missile Maintenance Technician with the 390th MIMS at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. I salute your father for his service! Thanks for watching.
Kudos to your Dad. Mine was a navigator in the 306th.
That one is an awsome kit! I would love to get my hands on one of those!

looks like a nice kit..!
Its a very nice kit!
I have arthritis in my hands so am not dextrose enough to build anything small anymore, 1/48th being about the smallest I can manage, this kit looks as though it would be perfect for me, guess I better start saving up for this one. I bought the 1/18th scale FW-190A by hobby boss and am really disappointed by the lack of detail on it, no pilot, no engine, and very poor cockpit detailing, no wonder I got it cheap, £60, a lot less than even some 1/32nd kits, so beware of this kit, it isn’t worth the money or disappointment. Look forward to the next video, thanks for sharing this kit with us. 👍
Unfortunately its the only game in town for its size, hey I'm a modeler and I plan to detail and correct it as much as possible. Thanks for watching and your kind words.
I fully understand the arthritis issue. I have had to move up to 1/32 because 1/72 just too small. 1/48th is about as small as I can go.
I know it has been four years, but the HB FW190 has little detail because it is a scaled-up version of the 21st Century Toys release which was actually a toy with moveable flaps, wheels, etc.
I've got this Model kit....its a beast ......😂😎
Its a beauty!!
I had the b17 Memphis belle the famous bomber plane maybe and I'm going to buy it at a hobby shop in Perth w.a Australia
I wish you luck in finding what you want.
That's huge.
Yes it is, thanks for watching.
Will you have to build an addition just to house this B-17? Keep safe and well i these crazy times, best regards from Australia
Its a big plane for sure.
I have a 1/48 scale B-1B that is about 36" long and 39" wingspan with the wings swept forward.
I would be interested to know what sort of glue you use to join the bits together .
I have used some glue that squeezed out of the joints and spoilt the surface.
I would like to use the proper stuff before I buy one Thanks for any info.
I recommend a combination of CA and styrene cement.
If the glue squeezed out, you're using too much on the joints
How about the Spruce Goose or the Antonov An-225 in 1/32 scale!!!

I want to see him put it all back in the box and see if he can get the cover back on it.

Biggest i ever built was a Revell 1/32 F-14. This B-17 looks bigger.
This kit is massive, can't wait for the 1/32 Lancaster. Thanks for watching.
This is on my wishlist. Where did you buy it and how much did it cost?
+CyberGolem I purchased it on a preorder, I think from Sprue Brother, The F model version is going to be available very soon.
Looks to me like they gave you parts to build her as a B-17-F or a G. I thought the
old Monogram 1/48 scale B-17 was a lot of model, this one beats all I ever saw
After watching the second part I see I was wrong about the extra parts,
oh well, still a very impressive kit

The 47 year old Monogram is way more accurate. Even the sit is way better, as the gear on the HK is much too long...
What kit would you recommend fro a beginner?

I spend that much for a foam RC plane that I can actually fly. Sure there is not the same detail, I get that. I used to build a lot of plastic models. I can say this, I do detail out most of my RC planes as much as possible because at the end of the day, they just sit around looking cool. By adding details, an RC plane can look almost as good as a plastic model. I even add lighting to all my planes, even my plastic models. I love modeling period.
Thanks for watching.
To each his own...
excelente;
Thanks for watching
High five 🤗
Thanks for watching.
wow if the old monogram B29 super fortress in 1/48 wasn't big enough now HK brings out this massive thing lol
Joseph Johnson
I got that too !!!
BTW, I have the B-29 from Aurora, semi- finished in is box.!!!
One of this days, I'll finish it.!!

B-17 has wider wingspan and B-1 Lancer is longer.
I just saw this yesterday in Milwaukee! Three hundred bones! Not my usual scale, but I want one anyway! You said "kit instructions", did you actually mean "kit novel"? As for the wheels, you could just double up, you know, for soft field operations! Hopefully the top piece fits nicely so you can choose to leave it loose for interior viewing. (Don't know if that's an option in the instructions, but I'd do it.) That's a lot of work to simply cover up!
Thank you.
You all probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Kabir Romeo instablaster ;)
@Jack Bodhi i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Jack Bodhi it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
For $300 the kit should have come with PE for everything!
I didn't pay $300 I payed much less. I'm sure PE would have jacked up the price.
Prices really went through the roof in 4 years then. That is the going rate for this model everywhere I look...;(
I agree, Thanks for watching.
Milk Wagon was the only B17 they could com up with?
I know, plenty of aftermarket decals.
@@ScaleModelKitReview I've got 41 1/48 B17 decal sets from microscale,Zots and many I made myself."Milk Wagon" is an ok choice but it was also on the Monogram pro modeler plane. There are lots of others waiting to be made famous still.I made the tragic mistake of letting my inlaws move in.All of my B24s and 32 of my B17s were tossed.Im guessing about 1200 bucks in today's prices to get them back. Not including time and effort.I started in 1982.😔🤯

OMG nobody noticed that, but he put the Noseantenna in the wrong direction :D
+Pilot Absolut Oh Man I noticed that!
Nice kit but I will stick to the Revell 1/48 kit that does cost an arm and an leg to buy it and need an extra room to house the beast.

Dude, I want ! Where do I buy one ??
Preordered it many years ago.

HK makes thier own model kits? I thought they were only a distributor
Thanks for watching!
Can you get a crew?
No one produced a crew, although you could scratch build a crew using the airfix multi-pose figures, Verlinden may have a few crew, but they are expensive.
@@ScaleModelKitReview Verlinden is gone aren't they?
1/48 was big enough😂
Yea, its a beast!
I have numerous times, Lol
TY
Did you finish it?
I haven't started it yet.
where did you get it
+Clifford Doutre It was a pre-order from SprueBrothers
Okay
Why does it show a B-17F on the side?
For a future release, due out very soon.
Probably get an rc b17 for not much more.
Thats true, Thanks for watching.
No Pilots and Crew ?
Not with this kit.
@@ScaleModelKitReview Okay you can't always get what you want,to say it in the words of the Stones.
But its a awesome modell👌Great review🔝
Have nice day🍀
But !!! Its all plastic I want one that's made of balsa parts ,stringers and stuff like that and build it myself
I've seen some of those built up, and they are very nice!
Beryl Price
Check out the guillows b-17
It's beautiful
Where's the crew?
I'd love to have a set of aircrew.
Please, I beg you, dump the background music. I just turned off all audio on this video rather than deal with the music.
I agree, I have pretty much stopped with the background music in my kit reviews.
That oughtta keep ya outta the poolroom fer a while

Let me guess. This would take about 9 months to build.
Not me, probably longer with all the upgrades I want to do to it. Thanks for watching.
Scale Model Kit Review No problem!! This kit is a monster.
i had a big scale model delivered to me once. when the first lady of the house saw it, she gave me the silent treatment for a day.
Hmmm, only for one day, that must've been a little disappointing!.
WOW, I'd have gone and bought the collection...months and months of peace and quite and something to do bonus 🤪👍

$350.00 kit..... some assembly required.
I didn't pay that amount for it.
What's the going EBAY auction price?
Too much I'm sure. Its why I usually preorder these kits for a discounted price.
You just do reviews? Not gonna build it?
+Rick Hargett I builds also, please check my other videos.
No paint? :(

We don’t need a 1/32 scale B-17. What we need is a modern molding in 1/48 scale of the B-17 and the B-24, B-26, B-29, etc. There are way, way more builders in at 1/48 scale than 1/32 scale and we're all stuck with 50 year old kits of those great planes. Come on man! You want to make some money?
HK has announced a new 1/48 B-17 Kit : www.scalemates.com/kits/hk-models-01f001-b-17g--1242182
David Stewart , i read your column,.. you are correct !,
1/48, scale , is big enough,.. how bout some new mouldings / kits ?,.. right ??
