Great video! I'm looking at a 2020 161 Mullair that Gnu rates as 6.5 flex. Trying to decide between '20 Genesis or '21 Cartel X. I'm aggressive all-mountain/freeride, no park or freestyle. My boots are Imperials, sz 10.5 - M or L as far as the size goes?
Either binding would compliment that board well , Im a big fan of the Genesis my self though.

Heyy, I'm an early intermediate boarder mostly doing resort runs (planning to start park this coming season). Just got an Endeavor Ranger. That being said, would the Cartel X be too stiff? If so, are there any other bindings or recent versions you would recommend?
That is entirely up to you. You could definitely put them on that board fir a nice quick response but if you are worried about them being too stiff you could always check out the regular Cartel or Malavita
Are the Cartel more similar to the Malavita this time around (in term of stiffness/flexibility) since there's a Cartel X now?
Flexibility wise yes, but the Malavita still has a better highback, footbed, straps and buckles.
Can u guys do a video on the Burton Flight Attendant for this year?
We still got a lot of vids to go this year but just in case you need the info sooner: The Flight attendant is an All Mountain board that excels in Powder. Its a little softer torsionally so its very smooth edge to edge and with the combo if the Carbon I beam and wider/longer nose you'll be laughing all day in powder. Super cool thing about the board is the nose is exponentially longer than the nose but the stance is only set back 1.4" so you can mover your bindings forward a bit on it and it will feel more like a regular board on groomers, even riding switch. Its the best board for a guy that want s to ride EVERYWHERE on the mountain but spends very little time in the park.
Are you guys going to do a Step On vs Step On X Video before the release?

Hi. I have 2013 Cartels and I satisfied with them. Are there any crytycal difference with 2021 “regular” cartels like difference between iPhone 5 and 12 or those are almost the same bindings with few tweaks?
Big differences for sure, It's pretty much a completely redesigned binding compared to the 2103. Different baseplate, footbed, highback, AND straps. The only thing that is not that much different is the ratchets.
Hey guys! I ordered a 2021 custom camber with the normal cartels. Now kind of wishing I got the cartel X watching this video. You think it’s worth returning them for the marginal price difference or will I be stoked with my regular 2021 cartels. Thanks!!
The Cartels are still a sick binding. The Cartel X basically has a little stiffer baseplate for quicker edge to edge and the Heel Hammock to help grab the back of your boot. I would say if you ride park a good amount of the time stick with the reg Cartel. If you spend most of your time out of the park switch em up for some Cartel X.
what would be the best burton est bindings for custom flying v, with adidas tactical adv boots? i thought everything has to flex together? will be my first time snowboarding, thanks for any advice.
Honestly with of these would be good. Do the Cartel for a little smoother feel or do the Cartel X if you want a little quicker feel. Cant go wrong either way though.

It is a little high end for that board, something like the Freestyle or Mission would be a little better match performance wise. If you really like the Cartel X though it would be fine, just a little quicker reacting binding. Check out 4:45 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/S4ji_3zlesM/v-deo.html
Is the highback of the Cartel X also stiffer than the one on the "now regular" Cartel or is it the same highback with the added heel-hammock ?
The highback stiffness is the same on the 2 models. The X is basically a Cartel with a stiffer baseplate, heel hammock, and dual component buckles.

Is the Cartel X compatible with the 4 hole system or is it just for the channel system?

I'm going to bu the Burton process camber, Wich bindings would you recommend, I know it is a soft board but i still want some response for carving
If you want quicker response definitely go for the Cartel X. It has a little stiffer baseplate.

I bought the new Cartel X Reflex this month. I have an old 2012 burton bullet with the 3D mounting system (upgrading boards next year) and I can not figure out how to line up disc. At most I can get 2 screws and am not able to get 3. Is the new cartel x still compatible with the old 3D mounting system?
No, that doesn't work. Well I am not familiar with the new disc but you used to need a dedicated disc for that. Burton did stop to put the 3D discs in the package a while back.
Email Burton, they will send you the 3D discs.
It is but you will need to get ahold of a 3D reflex disc for it. Hit up our Customer service team or even Burton and you should be able to get a set free of charge without any issue.
If I wear a burton boot size 8, would I be better off with the S or M cartels? Not sure if there’s a big difference but thanks for the breakdown!
Either will work. I personally always go with the smaller bindings for a tighter fit. Im and 11 and I go with Medium over the Large because i like my straps nice and tight!

@@xxhalifaxx yes! I'm using Salomon boots size 11, M cartel X just fit, max out on the toe straps.
Hey so on the burton website is says there is AutoCANT cushioning for the Cartel. So is there autocant/angled footbed on the Cartels or not?
For 21/22 only the Malavita and Genesis have the AutoCant footbeds.

I am torn between getting the Malavita or the Cartel X for my Flight Attendant and have no clue which one to get (like carving and powder, resort also). Any differences between the 2020 Cartel vs the Cartel X 2021 besides the Heelhamock? Any thoughts/advice on the major differences or what to get would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
For the Flight Attendant i would go with the Cartel X for sure. The Malavita would work but the Cartel X would compliment the more aggressive riding style of the FA.

What would you recommend for park riding?
The regular Cartel would be the more traditional flex/feel for park.
Would you say the 2021 Mission ankle strap is more playful than the Cartel's?
(The Cartel ankle strap is a lil harsh for my taste and thinking of swapping it out)
I would look to the Hammock Strap on the Genesis. Those have a little softer material and it is spread out a little more! I run that strap on ALL my bindings.

Would is be safe to say that the cartel X is comparable to the previous years cartel (with some upgrades) and the new cartel (regular) is closer to the previous years mission?
The Cartel this year is closer to last years with a little smoother riding base plate and the Cartel X is like a suped up version of the Cartel.
I think your assessment is correct. I have 2015 cartels and it looks like the cartel X's are more comparable to mine. When you look at the composition of 30% versus 45% and the gel in the heel base plate
Better match for charging on a Custom X: Genesis or Cartel X? Reflex or EST?
Either one would be a good match to be honest. The Cartel X will have a little quicker reaction because of the stiffer baseplate. The Genesis will have a little smoother feel compared to the Cartel X. If you are just putting the bindings on a Channel board i would go with the EST for sure. You get way more adjustability and better flex/feel. If you have other boards with standard inserts that you want to put the bindings on as well then do the Reflex.

Hi..I have the burton process 2020 model.. I want to buy the burton cartel x or malavita..tell m your opinion please....
Between the 2 the Malavita will be a little smoother feel and the Cartel X will be a little quicker feel edge to edge. I would base your decision off of how much time you spend riding park. If you ride park 50% or more of the time do the Malavita. If you spend less than 50% of your time riding park do the Cartel X.

Hey! It seems that this season Burton removed Autocant from the footbeds on Cartel. Does it make any significant difference?
Some people notice it some don’t.
Wish i saw this before i got the regular cartels from 2019 because i liked the back part more and they were a little cheaper, bottle opener! Regret 100% should have got the new x
Honestly performance wise the 2019 Cartels are pretty close to the Cartel X, jsut a few bells and whistles so dont be too bummed!
I've just realized that the 2021 Cartel X is very similar to the 2020 Cartel. As far as i can see, only the highbacks are different, and the 2021 bindings no longer have the Autocant feature. In addition to that the 2021 bindings are delivered with only one set of discs, which can be used for both channel and 4x4. The 2020 bindings were delivered with two sets of discs, and where the 4x4 discs offered more (!) adjustability than the new ones do (important if you're between sizes). Otherwise the baseplate, straps, buckles, B3 gel on the 2021 Cartel X are the same as on the 2020 Cartel. Btw, the Cartel X hasn't got the bottle opener buckles :-)
TLDR; 2021 Cartel X is a small step up from 2020 Cartel, and 2021 Cartel is a downgraded version of the 2020 Cartel (which explains why the price has gone down)
Thinking about grabbing a set of Cartel X's for my 21' Lib Tech Orca. Also looking at the Union Atlas. On the east coast so spend more time bombing/carving on groomers than I do in powder but try to get out west a few times a year. Any particular recommendations?
Honestly can go wrong either way. Win Win situation.

You can on the ReFlex models but not on the EST

Yeah, both are sick. THe X is a "Get from edge to edge RIGHT NOW" kinda binding. Super aggressive if you like that style. If not the Cartel X is money!

@@snowbdr89 oh no, X is a full carbon high back. Definitely way stiffer than the Cartel X high back
