Aaron Spears Plays "The Pretender" | Foo Fighters

- Aaron Spears was part of the Drumeo family. When he filmed with us back in 2022, one of the songs he wanted to perform was "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters. He loved this song - particularly, Taylor Hawkins' power and energy throughout the track. Tragically, since the time of filming this video, we've lost both Aaron and Taylor.
As a tribute to both drummers, we wanted to release this performance for Taylor's birthday which would have been this weekend. After speaking with one of Aaron's closest friends, Kaz Rodriguez, we learned that Aaron also wanted this performance released publicly on the Drumeo channel as his personal tribute to Taylor.
Aaron and Taylor - we miss you both. We know your drumming and music will continue to inspire drummers around the world for years and years to come.

@@WD.909yeah his real breakout into the mainstream was with a cover of Usher’s “Caught Up”, in fact, that cover kinda single handedly blew up gospel chops and had a considerable impact on the popularity growth of that style of drumming in general.
Rest In Peace Aaron, thank you for inspiring so many of us with your abilities and your kind & loving soul.
And needless to say Taylor as well. Both gone way too early.

I’ve never heard someone play with such energy and perfect consistency. Almost like a body builder doing ballet effortlessly. Aaron is truly in a league of his own. RIP to a master gone too soon.

I had no idea who Aaron Spears was until watching this. I googled, so sad he is no longer behind the skins. My take…. Brilliant drumming, fantastic attack. Also huge props to whoever set up these drums, the mics, the recording. Just Splendid !!! The crack of the snare, paired with deep Toms …. with a tone to make me smile.

Man, I bumped into Aaron just a couple months before he passed. I was having a terrible day and embarrassed myself in front of him so I didn’t want to say hey. I’ll always wish I had now.
