I'm always excited to see videos from you. pure Chidera accent 😋. great video. lots of information for beginners and advice too. love your hair the way it is and however it turns out. dealing with the comparisons was a journey for me and still is, but gosh I love my locs. and in Nigeria, females with thicker sized locs are like a spectacle. i've gotten mixed reactions and some even go further to school me. which is just annoying. and yeah, I am getting even more and more confident. can't wait for more videos! and blog posts!☺️
I’ve been growing my locs for 5 years and I at times catch myself comparing my locs to other people I’m learning to just enjoy my own journey and I’m freeforming my locs ❤️ this is the best decision I’ve ever made for my hair !
Technically you started as semi free form because you started from two strand twist. It's important to tell people this so they know how to actually freeform. Freeforming means to allow your locs to grow organically on it's own. No twisting, no sponge, and or coils. Just washing and allowing the locs to form on it's own. I started my freeforming locs in December.
THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to figure it out and everyone saying " you don't do anything to your hair". like, you had to do SOMETHING to start the shit! two strand twist! got it and again, FUCKING THANK YOU FOR AN ACTUAL ANSWER!!!
I'm a semi-free former and check back here from time to time when I need remember it ok not to have those perfect-square-parts-ultra manicured locks that some opt for. Love these photos. NICE!
@Chloe Great it can cause buildup, which can lead to some nasty stuff like a bad smell and even mold. It’s also extremely hard to get out of your locs. If you are going to use it, do so very sparingly.
I don't even know how many locs I have..I am freeforming and I am just leaving my loc to do its thing..I just washed my hair and stopped combing...I can see it gradually separating..I am in my 2nd month
@@ChideraStephen sometimes I wonder if I should have started with two strand because my loc is taking soo long to form..lol it's not even up to two months but it's also tiny.
What about free form locks on gray hair? I have gray free form locks and would like to see others with it! Many of us have gray dreads but they look thin and discourages us, but if they free form the hair it is thicker looking!
Hey! I have salt and pepper locs 😊 I haven't updated my YT channel in a while tbh lol but I have some videos on there. I'm sure the salt and pepper / gray locs will catch love/attention soon! Right now, it's still very unique 🤎
You just gave me confidence,I have a relaxed hair yeah, but I stopped adding relaxer since 1 year and three months ago,so I started palm rolling myself around March, but anytime I put water they scatter,so I think I’m going to leave it to free form, stop combing, stop brushing and stop twisting.
Two strand twist, leaving it natural my hair is still in its stages I love getting compliments it’s a lot of time and patience to let your locs form I don’t like the word dreads cause that’s the world that they gave locs to call them dreadful but locs are beautiful and it’s the culture not in to dying locs it’s not the way.. natural and not putting chemicals to rush the process just let it be free sprite that’s how I was taught..
I'm almost a month loc’d, honestly I don't know which type of lock I have. My loctician used her fingers to do the locking. She was about to crotchet it after when I asked, I like the way it looks now, what will happen if we don't crotchet? She said nothing it is loc’d.. Then let's leave it I said. I went to interlock it yesterday. They are thick because I love to have thick loc’s. Now watching this I think I'm freeforming yaaaay🤣.
Thanks babe 😌😅 Oh Damnn 😭 I used a different folder of locs for this video plus I was in a hurry 💀😭 Totally skipped my mind But that blog post I will get back to you on that 🥰
This is dope and very informative!! I had mini twists in and left them in for some timeeee yo they matured into something so beautiful 😍 I’m loving yours girl!!!
Chidera my son has free form locks but it looks like a matted mess. He has black hair..hes mixed heritage. What can I do to make it look natural but not neglected ?
Free forms are when you start your locs by allowing the hair to clump naturally. When you start from braids/twists/interlocking, even with low maintenance, the locs tend to look more manicured because of the base. But the journey isn’t about the terminology or category of your locs. The only time the type of locs you have become relevant is when you are centering your content around hair.
I started my locks with the hook .. if i let them grow freely will they be considered as freeform locks ? Like I don’t kno if choose the good start procedure pleaseee help😂
First recorded doesn't mean first originated there. We know how history and how these "records" people trust so much were tempered with and how a lot was ommitted. In the end, the structure of hair tells which hair type was built for locs. Actually, who really cares where locs originated?

Right this isn’t free form ma’am

Biggest regret was cutting my locs. Now I’m starting over and this time using no locking gel and just lettin my hair do it’s thing.
Yass boo

How did you unlock your hair?
I didn’t
@@ChideraStephen So how did you take out the locks, like take it back to your normal hair?

Can one go from semi freeforming to fully freeforming? Especially someone that started with interlocking.
Free forms are when you start your locs by allowing the hair to clump naturally.
When you start from braids/twists/interlocking, even with low maintenance, the locs tend to look more manicured because of the base.

Hahah yeah, you can still allow them grow freely, that’s actually fine
Chidera Stephen thank u that’s so good to know .. I can star de journey mind free now😃
Haha yes
Yay🤸🏾♀️
Do you have to comb the hair as it grows?
No combing
My hair is very strong, I was actually born with dreads
Black Hair is always strong
Okay, but the images are a lot of people who have manicured locs...
You clearly don’t know what freeform Locs are lol
I agree.. a lot of these ''free forms'' are well manicured.
Well manicured ?
Freeform locs can be neat. I saw no locs displayed that had parts - that’s the difference

Black lady magic. I humbly enter lock discovery as a 2 c 3 a hair. My hair tangles easily

Ouuuuu🤗
You seem to have some frustrations
Did I hear someone say white people dont lock their hair? Not true. Some white people loc their hair. Do a google search
MA’AM FREE FORM MEANS YOUR HAIR IS NOT TWISTED OR COILED! WHEN U FREE FORM THE HAIR WILL LOC ON ITS OWN, WTF ARE U TALKING ABOUT 😂😂😂
But my parents cut it off
Awwww nice
Wetin u dy talk sef 🙄
🌝
Actually white people can loc too, locs were first recorded in Greece actually
It's not gonna look like a black people
And our hair locs faster than there's and our look like tree's
First recorded doesn't mean first originated there. We know how history and how these "records" people trust so much were tempered with and how a lot was ommitted. In the end, the structure of hair tells which hair type was built for locs. Actually, who really cares where locs originated?
