I love watching people struggle with cars as much as I do. Makes me feel normal again.
I struggle much more. So feel like a champ. 😂
I have arthritis from toe to skull, I feel like a god!
No kidding, that's why I try to stick with stuff that fits on the bench to work on LOL
Amen to that!
I got sick of struggling with cars so I switched to buses. Got sick of struggling with buses so switched to a desk. With the occasional outboard motor repair thrown in, as a side line ;)
I always like part two's, especially after successful test drives. Great job Ray, this was a big job.
Did you tighten last drive shaft bolt?
A full completion from start to finish of a transmission change. Nice!
This is why I would pay good money for a mechanic like Ray. He enjoys his work and he leaves nothing overlooked. I hope one day I can bring my car down for Ray to go over it. 👍
Excellent job Ray! It is truly impressive how you are able to do major surgery on all these brands.
Hi Ray excellent, video I just finished watching both of your transmission R/R love it’s and as always you and you’re families be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Did you remember to tighten up that 4th bolt near rear end? Job well done like always, i love your videos! Have been wathchin old videos a lot, I think watching them all. :)
I was wondering the same thing if he put in the fourth bolt on the drive shaft at the rear end
He didn't put a smidge of bitumen on the seal before attaching the new transmission either.
@@inspectorjavert5563 Maybe because you do not have to do that, there is no seal between engine and transmission, because there is only air between those.
Also the bolt to the left when ray was doing the torque converter
I wondered about that and the hose clamp on the power steering (I think) underneath he didn't move into place.
Ray the sound effects are so funny when you spray the cleaner. Love it
Anyone else notice Ray doesn't specialize in battery terminal cleaning anymore since he started his own shop? 😂😂😂
I've only seen him do it one time since he started the shop😂
Considering what you have done on this job, your shop has stayed relatively clean. What a great job Ray. Enjoyed
Wife Unit spends all night cleaning up Ray's messes and hides all of the leftover parts and bolts that missed being reinstalled...
Nicely done Ray! I think this was the first time I've seen you do a job so involved. Great job! AND, you're at 498K subscribers!!! SOOOO CLOSE!!
I am impressed you take such a complex job as a solo tech.
I've been watching your channel for a while, I'm a motorhead in my 60s, love your humor, hey I just finished watching the jeep fiat whatever job and you left me hanging on two things driveshaft rear bolts, and when you were installing the torque converter bolts on the left side of the screen there was a bolt through the bell housing into the tyranny the wasn't run down you can see about 6 threads, you did an awesome job though! Keep up the great content.
I think Ray got the driveshaft nut because when he got in to start it, the shifter wasn't in Park anymore.
I see what you mean about the Trans mounting bolt, hope Ray got it!
Hey Ray, that was a great series. A bit of a daunting task but you tackled it systematically and got it done. Great job! Cheers!
Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your videos I think it's awesome that when something goes wrong you turn it into a positive every time . Just goes to show life is 10% of what happens in 90% of how you react to it thanks Ray.
Your my inspiration for repairing my own car/van. Never will be able to buy a new car do to high prices, markups, interest rates, etc, etc. Keep busy and make good money. Your an excellent teacher with humor.
A new Tee Shirt logo: "OH no! I got my wiggly bits stuck!"
The double entendre is obvious.
Very interesting in depth video Ray. When you put the power steering pipe back on under the car I didn't see you put the pipe clamp back on. From Ian over the pond in the UK . 👍💯
And yet ANOTHER, successful repair with no injuries or mishaps and remaining parts.
Way to go Ray
Except when it slipped off the stands in Episode 2, but no major mishaps at least.
@@davidbentley6399 everybody is a critic,
@Greg Shook not a critic at all. Just correcting misinformation. I enjoy all of Ray's video and learn a lot from them.
Amazing how a good mechanic can make something difficult look easy.
Nice job Ray. Thanks for taking us along on the journey.
That was such a satisfying vid to watch. Love it when it all comes back together
That was very instructional!
Now I know how expensive this repair would be ! If I owned this car.
I fully expected you to say "this is the rebuilt motor and transmission, I'ma drop a car on it"
@36:53: "A click too far". Sounds like it could be the title of Ray's first book. LOL!!
Did I miss a video somewhere? The assembly of the new transmission on to the engine?
unless he did a reassembly video and posted it to his second channel, it doesnt look like we missed one. I thought the same thing when he went straight into putting the power unit back into the car
It's CGI...😊
I was thinking the same thing.
Well done, Ray!! This was an epic repair to be sure!!
"OOOO, torque converter bolts!"
It's a good thing we reminded him about that. 🤣🤣🤣
thankyou Ray,,its been a real pleasure following this series,,have a great weekend and as always see you in the next one,,👍👍
absolutely fantastic reassembly ray..we were with you all the wy..excellent workmanship!
Sorry... My
Opinion is independent...I just keep an eye on him...he hasn't vouched for all the vending machines I want to load up in his shop...
I don't understand why it's so difficult to put it back together. Surely you just have to run the video backwards 😂
not if he wants it fixed. LOL
Would he need anti gravity just saying?
Don't watch if that's All you got to say
@@brendanansell6828miaoow
You definitely are not a mechanic don’t question someone if you haven’t done the job yourself
Thoroughly enjoyed this series Ray. Brought back memories of changing out the engine and gearbox with my father on his 1955 Standard 8. Basically same method on a much smaller scale. You unbolted the subframe and lifted the body up leaving all the engine, gearbox and front suspension on the deck. That was back in 1960s for us. Keep up the good work Ray.
It’s been fun watching you working YOUR ass off in YOUR shop. Thanks for showing us these longer videos on more complicated repairs. Even the re-install has a benefit for me.
Very difficult and detailed. Patience tester. Great!
Excellent work as usual, I was hoping to see you attach the new trans though.
74th! GOOD MORNING RAY AND THE WIFE UNIT! What a job to replace a transmission! Roger in Pierre South Dakota
This was some of the most entertaining video footage I've watched in a while. Great work!
I do love the more in-depth videos 👍🏻🇬🇧
Great job. You have proved to be a master technician.
Great video. Thanks for the ride along on the whole journey of the Jeep trans.
I definitely get the 'moments of panic and uncertainty' - it's even more so when you're dealing with parts from a salvage yard - Had the same thing when I replaced the transmission and then engine on my wifes '15 Malibu (Trans ate itself due to a failed TECHM, and don't get me started on the engine...).
Hi Ray, I'm a big fan. Great work on this and every job. This tranny and the badging you found (Hyundai), and the fluid fill procedure make me think this could be an A6MF1/2, made by Hyundai.
Anyway, keep up the great work.
This is 6 speed Hyundai/Kia transmission, not CVT, uses SP4-m fluid, very reliable unit.
I am kind of disappointed there was no video of putting the transmission and engine back into a unit. It was like we ended with pulling the engine and then next one we putting the car back down into the car and hooking up all the other remaining part.
Nicely done Ray. ALways impressed with these big jobs and how you keep track of everything. Glad you're back to posting regularly.
Happy Saturday Ray. Major Rocket Surgery achieved level 100. Das wird ein gutes Video. Just a little German lingo. 😎
Do you feel a sense of accomplishment when getting something like this done? Like, just look at your work and say to your self "I did that"? I do that sometimes when I am proud of what I did.
probably more like 'now i can get this pile out of here'
Do you get feedback from your videos from the owners of their vehicles about their car in stages of disrepair? Great Job, as always. Hi to Lauren and the little Rays and Raylettes.
Excellent series Ray! 👌👌And a great job, well done!
This reminds me of the fun times of replacing the clutch on a Pontiac FIERO. Thanks for the share.
Dont know if i missed it but did you get that 4th nut for rear diff? Always love your videos. Nice job.
Not mentioned!
Yeah, I was also going to ask that

@@samvalentine3206 But Sam he didn't take out of park & rotate the drive shaft to tighten the last nut🤔
@@samvalentine3206 idiot
I hope you went back and tightened that Trans mounting bolt, just to the left of the flex plate access window. There's about ½-inch of exposed threads.
35:00
Did you remember the ground strap?
@@samvalentine3206 Oh yeah still loose 43.26. Ray will get it on one of his many re-check😃
You’re a great mechanic you have a lot of patience. God bless.😊
This drivetrain series deserves an academy motor head reward. Awesome. I watched every minute; I do not know why!
Did you remember the last driveshaft bolt ray 👍

@@samvalentine3206 idiot
@@samvalentine3206 I don't see where he went back for the one on top he couldn't tighten since it was in park during installation...
Nice one ray, exactly 1200 hours. Lunchtime with rayman rays repairs😄

@Darrell Adams wait. we dont... dang. I've been wrong this whole time and nobody told me..... sad day. lol. but ya I agree with Stefan that it's perfect time he has lunch with Ray I have my morning coffee with Ray
"I've gotten my wiggly bits stuck".... LOL
What a fantastic series Ray! Awesome job, hats off to you!!!
Cutting Edge engineering watch your channel. They hope you’re taking notes on how they weld stuff :)
There was a loose bolt to the left of the torque converter bolt access port. Maybe a bellhousing bolt. Did you find that later?
35:50
I put a new coil in my lawn mower, couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start until I looked down and saw I didn't put the plug wire back on the plug. senior moment
Amazing you could do this all by yourself, great job and congratulations on its completion! Life would be much better for you having a helper in the future
Sorry but did i miss the part where you put the drive train back together?
since you had to wait to "un-park" the transmission so you could turn the driveshaft...did you ever tighten the 4th driveshaft nut in the rear?
39:38
Rainman Ray I have enjoyed watching you do the 2016 jeep drivetrain installation great work love watching your mechanical repairs clips even though I am in Australia love it keep putting them up
You know you found a great channel when you hear Upchurch in the background lol, love the vids man
I'm on the road a lot here in the UK and the cars I see most broken down at the roadside seem to be Range Rovers and Peugeots
that seems about correct
Deranged Rovers & Puggs Miles 🤔
Did you not capture the mating of the new tranny? I was very curious as to whether or not a new torque converter was used, you seemed to be a bit concerned with the contaminated one hitting the floor.
It comes with it
@@eddiereichel9354 damn skippy, I guess the world is looking up.
Great series of videos, Ray. That really must be a great sense of satisfaction giving new life to this vehicle,; knowing the job was performed properly and the customer will be happy that he spent his/her hard earned money with a great mechanic/technician.
YAY !!! It's done and no problems great job Ray 🎉🎉🎉
There was a loose screw at 34:33 (left side). I think it bolts the torque converter to the transmission. Did you catch it?
It's just a Fiat
Yep & broken on arrival to the dealership new lol
'just a fiat' but the usual clueless american buyer only sees the 'Jeep' plastic nameplate...
@@edbaker1016 sad but true
Great series! Thank you
Good Job!
You're right, there is that moment where you are nervous about the restart.
LAST TIME ON FLORIDA MAN BALL-Z..... Ray continued his quest to replace the transmission by removing the Jeep from the drive train, only to leave it perched precariously while dismantling it, leading to a gravity fail! Will Ray be able to reassemble the jigsaw puzzle lying on the shop floor? Will the wife unit ever get her own covered parking? Will we ever get 'Everything's a hammer' on a T-shirt? Find out, on today's episode!
A big picture of an open end wrench with the caption, “everything’s a hammer!”
9000 !!!!!!!
The shirt picture should be a large flat blade screwdriver then you could sell t-shirts with either "EVERYTHING IS A HAMMER" or "EVERYTHING IS A PRYBAR" 😊
Very cool to see you do such a big job!
An excellent series of video's for this big job mate and enjoyed them all. As usual the work was done to your professional level and glad it is now done with for you to move on too the next adventure. I hope you and your loved ones have a safe and happy Easter.

Fantastic finish to a HUGH challenge. Victory at 52.42 and we can all hear it in your voice Ray. Great job. Thanks for sharing....
It's just so good when you get the subframe bolts lined up , nearly as good as when the customer drives off in it
Enjoyed watching this video. Great job Ray!!
A Jeep in it's natural habitat: the repair shop. 😉
you are doing great and I am glad you remember where everything goes thanks for the video
You're good - but you don't need me to tell you that! I just want to thank you for all the time and effort that you put into the videos. You have this super ability to talk all the time about what you are doing. Such a pleasure to watch. Thank you Ray.
Would love to see the video of the new trans being installed to the engine.
Great series! Thanks Ray!
I very much enjoyed the entire series of videos related to this transmission replacement. Not having complete mechanical knowledge, I found it fascinating how you remember where EVERYTHING GOES! Too much for this little pea brain 😉. Thanks Ray for letting this old guy follow along👍👍. Bob, Nevada
The only way for ME to remember is: put the nuts in baggies and tape the baggies to the part!!!
@@jilbertb I usually tape the fasteners directly to the parts and this old guy STILL can't remember sometimes🤣🤣
Ray, I had to replace a transverse mounted trans once for the first time. I was following a book and as dumb luck would have it, I tried for about two hours to get the trans out pulling it up. I called my brother and told him I couldn’t get it out. He said, Did you remove the sub frame? I looked through the book and that was remove all necessary parts, I guess. So, I supported the engine from the top, dropped the frame and trans, put the new one in. I didn’t disconnect the radiator, AC, or any of the multitude of cables on top. It took me 8 hours to get it back on the road. Not bragging, just stating what happened.
Love watching u finishings your jeep.
You, sir, are an absolute master of your craft
fantastic work ray loved this series
Nice job Ray, great series 👍
I really commend you for taking on the Jeep. New cars are a pain in the ass.
have great week end with your family's Ray .
Seemed like re-assembling the engine /transaxle assembly to the vehicle was easier than removing it....That's a switch...LoL...Good Job Ray...
Great video Ray
Very good job Ray, very thorough man!
Awesome work Ray!!!
I can't imagine doing this in a driveway or a home garage... Ray, you do amazing work! Thank you
@Roads To Nowhere But see, its knowing this info that can help where most don't. I know Cherokees from 1984-2001 inside and out (fully rebuilt a few, its a disease, I know)...
But this... wtf? I'd pay someone to do it (like they did Ray) and it got done, but might not be the most efficient.
Its also obvious the Manufacturer doesn't have repair or replace in mind when designing and building this.. (as does every company, it seems, especially the one I work for...)
Cheers, mate! And thanks for the reply.
Great job Ray that sure was a big job big accomplishment well done
I can hardly believe it, you made it look sooooo easy, i know it's not though.
Congrats Ray, awesome job on the whole.
