Can't believe I paid $79 (or whatever the price was) when the FFIII (VI) and Chrono Trigger cartridges first came out back in the 90s. People complain about $60 games now, but adjusting for inflation, those JRPG carts were over $125 in today's money!

Have both the SNES & NES with a nice game collection tucked away in a box. They’re both plugged in today (along side the NES & SNES classic consoles). There’s just something about having the physical copies for that era. Also own a SMS in the original box/styrofoam with about 15 games. Tested it a while ago and it still works! Retro rocks!
Love Genesis, I'm probably one of the few that think bloodlines and hard corps are better than there snes counterparts. Snes had that rpg library though, my favorite system to collect for!
For my money, the following games are better on Snes than the Genesis, Mortal Kombat 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Sunset Riders, Turtles In Time, Turtle Tournament Fighters, I do enjoy Castlevania 4 more because it has better controls. Can say Street Fighter 2 as well because of the controller, probably more, but can't think of any right now.
Very impressive snes collection there MJR! I saw a few of my (Hidden) gems from back in the days. We had quite a few lesser popular games which we really enjoyed, like NHLPA 93, Desert Strike, dino city, soccer kid, international superstar soccer, jimmy connors tennis, so many cool memories!
A totally under rated racing games for the Snes is F1 exhaust heat. Me and my mate spent hours and hours playing that game. You win money by winning races and with that money you can upgrade your car parts. It was well ahead of its time in that regard.
I enjoyed the Terminator 2 game, Desert Strike, F Zero, Biker Mice from Mars, Killer instinct, Bomber Man, super Ghost and Goblins, and so much more. Ah brings memories.
I love the SNES, that generation has a great balance that no other system generations have achieved. The Sega Genesis has many shoot'em ups from Toaplan, so its a hard competition between that and the SNES, but i lend slightly more to Sega because i mostly play Truxton and MUSHA than Axelay or... Axelay, i love Axelay lol
3:30 Wario's Woods is actually quite a popular game. It has a good amount of players who still play it today competative - I suppose second most popular Retro puzzle game after Tetris.

SNES Doom in blood red was a turning point for Nintendo as games were notoriously censored for years, but by the end of the SNES life cycle Nintendo allowed more violence. Also SNES Doom was the first time I got to play Doom as I was not a PC gamer at all back then and I loved it even at its 10 frames per second bc it was unlike anything I ever played before. It introduced me to the FPS genre
I would say Genesis has a heads up over the SNES. Some of my favorite vertical and horizontal shooters are on that console along with TG-16 & PC Engine.
Games that you should consider: 1) Super scope games 2) Mario paint and other games that use the mouse 3) Tin Star 4) Sim City Why? If you own the real hardware, why not get the stuff that you can't really play with an emulator. Super scope would certainly count for that. It's nice to be able to appreciate the weird technology of the era. Mario Paint is full of charm. One of the coolest parts about it is the music maker. I highly recommend getting the Nintendo Power issue which comes with a mini mario paint instruction booklet. Also there is a website still in operation today that has a bunch of sprite templates and songs for mario paint. Also consider Tin Star. I find this game particularly interesting because you can play it with a gamepad, super scope or the mouse. Which is both cool and odd. Sim City is a must have. Sim City for the SNES is one of the best ports of the game for any system. It was made in-house by Nintendo and they added their special touches to it. I love letting my SNES idle for hours while I do other things in my office and casually turn attention back to it to tend to my city. Sim City is an impressive accomplishment because it plays very well with the gamepad. As you may know Sim City is generally played with a mouse on PC, although the original version for Commodore 64 did not use a mouse.
I almost sold my SNES collection to Gamestop for $20. When they said the games are worth 50 cents, I took my collections and left the store. Some notable one are Contra 3, TMNT, Megaman X, x2, ff3, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RpG, DK, and several others. I'm glad I didn't sell them for store credit.

I have 200 SNES/Super Famicom games now. I still love me some Terranigma, Hagane, Donkey Kong Country 2, Fire Emblem, Final Fight 3, Skyblazer, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 or Magical Pop´n. Greetz from Hessen, Germany.
MJR, Do you have super Mario RPG? I didn't see it in the video? if not, You should definitely add it to your beautiful collection!
I do not! And yes, I should!! Completely missed that game.
Your videos are like songs your think about and suddenly comes on the radio and you like oh!! I just thinking of that song
Metal Jesus you really do rock. Thanks for all the great content, new subscriber here!
One system I totally missed the chance to collect. Great collection vid as always.
Awesome collection!
I used to own a Super Nintendo for 22 year's i think maybe since 1998. The color faded. I had 7 games originally but lost one. Then I sold it last year at a pawn shop & got $30 for it.
Can't believe I paid $79 (or whatever the price was) when the FFIII (VI) and Chrono Trigger cartridges first came out back in the 90s. People complain about $60 games now, but adjusting for inflation, those JRPG carts were over $125 in today's money!
Exactly. It’s way cheaper to game nowadays than it was before the Internet.
Wrong!!, the price in today's money is $3200 dollars :)
Gaming and music production were unreasonably expensive hobbies back then.
Earthbound came to Wii U, 3DS (new model only) and the Snes mini :)
Nowadays that sealed CIB F-Zero will go for huge money at 'The Heritage Auctions' lol 🤑🙄
Maybe if it wasn't a player's choice copy.
Saving my sealed Contra III for that! :-) Same for Phantasy Star (Master System) and Final Fight CD.
@@volvoguy804 bruh, lately with these absurd "collectors" with the largest air quotes ever, who knows...
I really think that $1.5m copy of mario 64 must've been money laundering or something, its just so far from any contemporary sale prices.
They only go for around $200. More stock was found and these things were selling for $20 a few years ago.
Turbo Grafx was my jam for R-Type, fantasy zone and more! Plus all the bonk and bomberman games you’d never need another system!
Once I heard the best console generation is the one you were playing when you were 12. Soooooo true. Love the SNES.
Funny you said this. I was 12 when the SNES came out. Still my favorite system!
That makes sense. When I was 12, Playstation had already came out, but around then, the Snes was definitively still the most popular in my country!
Great video! I love this system!!!! It's my very first gaming system growing up (the second is the original playstation) I still have my yoshi island to this day and I just always enjoyed it. I absolutely love earthbound, super Metroid, donkey Kong, Zelda, etc. This is Nintendo's greatest masterpiece, your not just playing with power, but SUPER POWER!!!!!!!!
always good to rehash some of these that may have skipped my collection for one reason or another. I've got some I'd like to try, thanks to this video.
Ah yes, my favorite console
I have earthbound through the mini console
I first played it on Wii U. Point is there are ways to play it, should be on Nintendo's current flagship console the Switch though
Dude. I love your channel!! I recently discovered it and I've just been binging your videos. Much love from California
probably the most painful console for PAL collectors.
Second that! Still have my Pal copy of Secret of Mana complete but jeez! We missed some absolute Gems!
A totally under rated racing games for the Snes is F1 exhaust heat. Me and my mate spent hours and hours playing that game. You win money by winning races and with that money you can upgrade your car parts. It was well ahead of its time in that regard.
Another great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I enjoyed the Terminator 2 game, Desert Strike, F Zero, Biker Mice from Mars, Killer instinct, Bomber Man, super Ghost and Goblins, and so much more.
What do you think of Space Megaforce, Darius Twin, Rendering Ranger, Phalanx, Earth Defense Force, U.N Squadron?
3:30 Wario's Woods is actually quite a popular game. It has a good amount of players who still play it today competative - I suppose second most popular Retro puzzle game after Tetris.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@MetalJesusRocks yeah good
16:24 I don't know what a Rocky Rodent is, nor have I ever heard of it, but after seeing that small clip, now I want it lol
I got a copy of Hagane from my local pawn shop for $8 in 2010
Lol omg
Holy s
I'm sure pawn shops f up like that on the daily though. I've heard many stories of people catching pawn shops slipping on stuff like rare guitars
@@DanielRivera-on5qh yeah, games were collectible at that point, but it was nowhere near as bad as it is now. I got Splatterhouse III and Jet Set Radio Future CIB that same day. Was a good day.
@@Windytune Hagane is a very scarce game! Just one that's almost impossible to find like that today.
Ultima: The Savage Empire, that is some sick cover art.
Earthbound on wii u virtual console
Uniracers was one of my favorite snes games! I thought I was the only one who ever played it! So cool to see someone else who has played it
So jealous of this collection. I'm just starting to collect these amazing games from my childhood. Is there any advise that you would offer on how to get started or how to not get scammed with fake cartridges?
Be extremely patient and you better get some haggling skills youre also gonna have to work really hard to find them. Or you can just pay the eBay trolls

Games that you should consider:
1) Super scope games
2) Mario paint and other games that use the mouse
3) Tin Star
4) Sim City
Why?
The Firemen is a game you really should keep an eye out for.
"The ignition factor" was another fireman game around the same time that was ok, too.
Super Metroid and Link to the Past r two of the greatest games ever made
Really regret selling my SNES collection from growing up.
Top Gear 1 and 2 were my favorite racing games for SNES. I also love music for the those games.
R.I.P Ultima 😭 I will never forgive EA for what they do to you 😡
