Yes, it's the nature of the shrink wrap to shrink. It will do it naturally over time. The same thing happens with records. Keeping something sealed is a great way to destroy the thing you're trying to protect.
I also love the GBA. Here's some recommendations that may be off radar: Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure, The Incredibles, Jackie Chan Adventures: Legend of The Dark Hand, Samurai Jack: The Amulet of Time, Shonen Jump's Shaman King: Master of Spirits 1 and 2, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 1 and 2, Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 1 and 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files - Tournament Tactics, Godzilla: Domination!, King Kong, Mazes of Fate, Onimusha Tactics, Shonen Jump's One Piece, Teen Titans.
Shaman King Master of Spirits 1 + 2 are games I never stumble upon ever, which is surprising since it is kind of based on Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, running on its engine and being developed by some of the same team. A gem for sure.
Amazing dude. Seeing the game boy advance always puts me in a good mood. I think I’d choose those over the psp as my favorite portable system of all time.
I always wanted to play Car Battler Joe. Our family weren't that well off so getting games was a special treat and by time I had my own money GBA game prices skyrocketed. Love this video, dude. GBA will always have a special place in my heart.
Glad I bought most of the GBA games I wanted CIB years ago - the prices are insane now. I sold a bunch of the so-so titles in my collection, as it became hard to hold on to them for the price. Still my all-time favourite system though.
Thank you man! I am getting back into GBA. Recently picked up a GBA Micro with some games. I have all of the Golden Sun games now. I love the GBA. I always play on the OG hardware. Love it!

Man, I had so much good memories with the GBA and the original DS. I still remember going to Circuit City (no longer exist) around night time sometime in the winter to buy the fat DS. So many good games to play. I'd like to revisit these 2 systems later since I know I missed out on many gems out there
Love this. Been hammering my GBA lately. Max Payne might be my favorite. I love cool attempts at bringing something to the portable consoles, having some fun with it. This game is al that and more. Voice acting, good mechanics using the GBAs strengths, and it follows the originally story (less the dream halls) almost perfectly. Very immersive. Great topic again, MJR.
I dont play any games you do, we have a very diverse taste in games BUT i love that!!! Because you make me want to play them all. I feel like i could sit through hours and hours of your content and not get bored at all.
Yeah but when you start seeing Gameboy games going for 150-300 then you're like "screw it, I'll just use a flash card!" Hell, a Barbie game sold for thousands i think.
@@ens0246 It’s true that some of them go for absurdly high prices. I can’t say I’d blame anyone for keeping their games sealed, it’s just not the way I prefer to have my games.
What perfect timing, I'll be expanding my Game Boy collection at VRGE in a month in anticipation of my Analogue Pocket so this has inspired me to add a few games to the list. You should come with John to VRGE!
I love the GBA, even though I'm not actively collecting for it at the moment. But I think my favorite feature is its ability to play the ENTIRE GameBoy library, going back to the original. It certainly makes playing Metroid 2 a lot more fun!
Not a lot of shoot ’em ups for sure, but two more I would recommend are: 1) Gradius Galaxies (or Gradius Advance, or Gradius Generation, each region has a different name) is a good entry in the series, and possibly one of the, if not the best shooter of the system; 2) Invader is a pretty good shmup too, which would really benefit from a turbo fire function though (I hope the Analogue Pocket will support that in the future). I remember it being mentioned by Reggie. I think it may be exclusive to Europe?
The library is huge and has tons of excellent titles, I thought I knew all the highly-regarded GBA games until I recently started looking into hidden gem lists and finding dozens I had never heard of.
@@cowgba That's how I felt about PS1! I grew up on the thing so I figured I knew all it had to offer and I was VERY wrong. That thing still surprises me often.

Ever played "Dog's Life" for PS2 It's so underrated. Just going in the house at the beginning, just to listen to the radio is reason enough to play 😂 Fun adventure
Jurassic Park 3 Island Attack for GBA still gives me PTSD for how hard it was. One thing I liked about the GBA was those carts that had shows/movies on them like SpongeBob or Shrek.
Ok I didn’t even think to try some of these games tell you and Reggie said something about some of these games thank you gave me hours of entertainment plus got to watch koo videos in between love the videos I always watch them keep making them and I will keep watching them
20:45 The Hamtaro games are also so very good and a lot of people will just let those pass. The GBC one is one of the best games on the system but HamHam Heartbreak (on screen) is very good as well!
Karnaaj Racing, Zelda: A LttP, and the 2 Golden Sun games were my favorite. I was so excited for the GBA SP release that I imported it from Japan to get it a month before the US release. Made a mint on ebay when I finally decided to part with it. Had a GBA SP, Micro, Player, and around 21 games.
Rhythm Tengoku (JP) and Wario Ware are amazing . Great vid as always nice to see Spongebob GBA make a cameo. Your top 10 lists have helped so many people add valuable games to their collection before the prices spiked
Love the GBA. Awesome collection. I got one at launch and used to take it to school. Tony Hawk 2 was a launch game and was really impressive on that hardware.
I loved my original skeleton blue GBA. I lent it to my son (who was 8 at the time) and he lost it in a plane going to Florida. I was so bummed. But when the DS Lite came out, all was right in the world as my GBA collection only had to wait 2 months to be revived. Many fantastic games for GBA. One that I recently discovered is Frogger’s Adventure. I couldn’t believe how fun that game is. Great vid, MJR.
Great collection!! I am working on getting mine to a good place! I love Final Fantasy Tactics as well!! This game is the MAIN reason I had to get a Gameboy Player, as I fully drained my SP battery daily from playing this game so much!!
Nice. For me it's Mega Man Battle Network. I recently got an Ambernic SP, just for that, the Mother (EarthBound) series, Golden Sun, among other titles I missed out on, like Tactics. I sill have my black GBA SP in working condition 😅
GBA is a legendary system. LOVED Mario tennis, and I’m not a huge Mario sports fan but the way they did it like an RPG was great. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow is one of my favs, Advance Wars is phenomenal, Mother 3 is really good though it never got an official US release, and that’s just scratching the surface. I had to sell my ps4 a few years ago for financial reasons and playing these games on a gba emulator on my phone really got me through that rough year, and gave me a newfound appreciation for just how amazing the GBA was.
I love the GBA, got my first one in high school. Lately, I've been trying to add some more lesser known titles to my own collection. Just ordered Klonoa and Lady Sia. Wish to get a micro so that I can properly play Drill Dozer. Awesome video!
Man you were sending me on a nostalgia trip here! Grew up with a gba and you hit the nail on the head with how impressive the variety of games on it are.
Another movie tie-in game that you should really check out is Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Mans Chest. 80% of the game is a side scrolling platformer (and an amazing one; theres real multi input combos that are super satisfying) and the other 20% is an isometric sailing part where you have to engage other ships in battle. Theres some collectibles and a REALLY diverse group of enemies. Worth the $5-$10 IMO
Wonderful collection good sir. I love collecting for GBA and also have a fondness for the racers! Especially those 3D ones. I’m now a proud owner of Collin McRae, v rally and top gear rally. Great examples of parallel evolution Me thinks!
I have Castlevania Double pack and Circle of the Moon. All three of those games are like the best thing that happened to that console. Aria of Sorrow especially was so good.
I've seen the box shrinkage before throughout my years, with the unopened games. Which I've also wondered why they do this. The only thing that might help and not decompose the box, make a small pin-hole in the sleeve. Huge fan btw.
I'm so glad you highlighted that AstroBoy game! It was one of my favorites growing up and I definitely 100% the game 3 times over because I couldn't get enough of it. It truly slaps is a great example of a hidden GBA gem!
Love the GBA platform. I used to work at a game store a while ago when the 3DS was in its prime. We had a trade come through where the owner was trying to trade in some GBA games. Unfortunately we didn't take GBA at the time, so the owner just left them behind because they had no desire to take them back with them. It was store policy to trash games we couldn't take as trade-in, which my supervisor did. I dug them out of the trash bin because one of the titles was Metroid: Zero Mission, I couldn't stand to see that game be thrown in the trash. I begged my store manager to let me at least keep Metroid, they caved in and let me take it home. It will forever be cherished in my collection as being saved from the trash.
That’s an awesome GBA collection. Mine is kind of small. The GBA box art covers and instruction manuals I need are DBZ Buu’s Fury, Minish Cap, Metroid Fusion, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, and Circle of the Moon.
Since you're looking for suggestions for the GBA, there's been a few BIONICLE games released for the system. I personally recommend "BIONICLE: Quest for the Toa (2001)," "BIONICLE: Matoran Adventures (2002)," "BIONICLE: Maze of Shadows (2005)," and "BIONICLE Heroes (2006)." Each one is a different genre as well, though not much hardware pushing. Thank you for the content. Have a great day.
great video as always... some games I personally fell in love with outside the many you flagged are : The Hobbit ( a great action rpg light) Jazz Jack Rabbit (fun run n gun platformer) Sabre Wulf a Rare puzzle classic and Racing Gears Advance, nice racing game.
Jazz Jack Rabbit is on GBA??!! 😱 DUDE, I had that game on my comcast computer when I was little. It was my favourite!😂 That and "Hugo's House of Horrors" lol
As someone who just got their Analogue Pocket, this video couldn't have come at a better time. :). Totally agree on the Castlevania games, can't stop playing them!
Great video as always dude! I love the modern game videos you make, but admittedly the NES, GBA and older system videos are the ones I keep coming back to day after day lol. You probably know this already, but in case you don't, Minish Cap was actually developed by Capcom! I thought that was really neat, & unsurprising how good the game is. Capcom are fantastic. Also Drilldozer is a 10/10 experience. So fun! :D
I love GBA and I love your collection! Thank you for make this videos and spot light in some undiscovered gems to me! I wish you could make more videos about GBA because they're soooo interesting
Nice collection & video! Had a GBA a few years ago that was stolen from home with about 20 games. Went looking for it a week later & realized they’d taken it too!
I love the GBA! The original was and is my favorite (with my big hands it was excellent 😂) but the SP with the backlit screen was a better experience. Years later I replaced the screen in my original GBA voor one with backlight, best of both worlds now 🤩 Thanks for the vid @MetalJesus, you Rock 🤘🏻
gosh, gameboy advance has a lot of good games, I just bought a retro handheld and am still confused about what game to play. Watching your videos, made me realize a lot of games that i didn't know and now i'm going to play those games✨ hahah thank you sir!❤️
Weekend has started. Some of these games has so really great graphics! It is nice how developer has to be creative and solve how to create beautiful landscapes with less resources. This is also nice small and compact handheld to take with you when travelling!
Awesome collection! I've lately been rediscovering the GBA myself and I found the TMNT 2007 movie version to be a complete hidden gem!. It's a beat em up that I feel is overlooked and you would enjoy 😉
I’m very surprised you didn’t mention Sonic advance series, not only they were very well received but also they have a solid cult following, especially when you consider the transition period SEGA was going through during their release
Recently I've begun to wonder why Nintendo never made a new 2D Mario platformer for the GBA. They only ported the All-Star versions of 2, 3, and World, and 1 was the NES Classic version. It's kind of weird, no?
I guess they were focusing most of their resources on the gamecube as it desperately needed their full support, while the gba had all the third parties on its side and basically no competition (wonderswan in Japan was on its last legs and neo geo pocket color was done for too). Also, at that time most developers were still on "3D fever", wherein 2d titles were considered somewhat lesser title compared to full 3d poligon heavy titles.
That is odd, it's the only one they skipped a 2D Mario for except N64 obviously (NGC had Super Paper Mario but shifted development to Wii, sorta counts).
It does stink, but on the other hand what we did get is a sequel to a top 5 original Game Boy game, Donkey Kong, and the birth of a new phenomenal Mario series with Superstar Saga. It's really odd that I don't hear Mario vs. Donkey Kong talked about much, it really was as fantastic of a game as the last one.
I absolutely loved my GBA as a teen. I'm so glad there's so many ways to play the games these days because despite the original model being my fav way due to how comfortable it was, the screens dimness hurts it's playability these days without a screen mod
I recommend picking up, •Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Assault •Gekido Advance: Kintaro's Revenge. Arguably one of the best Fighting games and Beat 'em Ups on the GBA respectively.
I worked at Home Depot 2002-2006 and would play the GBA on my breaks all the time. Had a Toys r Us not far and loved my super Mario series. I never had a snes but the gba was just as best. Super saga was great. My first metrio. And I love Advanced Wars to this day
My top two fav and most replayed games on my GBA are "The Urbz" and "The sims bustin out" they are totally different from the console versions, and have a nice charm to them. Hours of story based fun! Ask Harvest moon friends of mineral town. Loved all of those, and loved being able to hook them up to my GameCube to interact with it or even play them on my "big" tv via the gba player on the GameCube as well. Thanks as always for sharing your collections!
My all time favorite GBA game is Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories...I played it as a kid at a friends house since I didn't own a GBA back then but was in love with the series and had I & II on the PS2. 2 years ago I picked up a GBA, modded it and bought the game and it is as amazing as it was back in the day.
This was such a fun, little system. The perfect bridge between modern 3D games and old-school, sprite-based games. I miss this era so much.
I would argue that was the DS but yeah
that was the ds not the gba kid
Glad you mentioned Astro Boy....I was the lead tester on the US/UK versions. Gotta say it was the best title I ever worked on.
Dude. It's so killer!
You got to do some more gba mods MJR, macho nacho puts some great mods on there. If I was better at modding I would do them 😅

Have a great day.
great video as always... some games I personally fell in love with outside the many you flagged are :
The Hobbit ( a great action rpg light)
Jazz Jack Rabbit (fun run n gun platformer)
Sabre Wulf a Rare puzzle classic and
Racing Gears Advance, nice racing game.
Jazz Jack Rabbit is on GBA??!! 😱
DUDE, I had that game on my comcast computer when I was little. It was my favourite!😂 That and "Hugo's House of Horrors" lol
I really like the mini boxes they look so clean
As someone who just got their Analogue Pocket, this video couldn't have come at a better time. :). Totally agree on the Castlevania games, can't stop playing them!
Love your videos. Racing Gears Advanced is my favorite racing game on the GBA.
so glad to see you mention mother 3, one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure of playing thru
I'm playing through the trilogy for the first time. I've been missing out way too much 😅
Great video as always dude! So fun! :D
Yes I’ve been waiting for this! I’m just collecting.
Your channel is awesome - keep doing what you’re doing!
I haven't been to your channel in awhile so I thought I'd stop by and drop a like. Have a great day! FJB
"As you know, I'm into 🚗 cars"
Jason, I'd watch a Metal Jesus car channel!
Nice GBA collection my man.
gosh, gameboy advance has a lot of good games, I just bought a retro handheld and am still confused about what game to play.
Watching your videos, made me realize a lot of games that i didn't know and now i'm going to play those games✨ hahah
thank you sir!❤️
The tiny boxes are GORGEOUS. Love it
Yeeeeeee ! Always pumped on a new video !!!!
I just tried this after seeing your comment. It's so good! It's a bit like Scott Pilgrim. Thanks!
@@cmjwilliams exactly @ 💯
I played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on GBA for probably hundreds of hours when I was a kid. Loved that game
If you don't have it,
Look for Ninja Cop.
Such a fun game.
Awesome collection man. Loving those small box cases too!. I don't collect for this system but your collection rocks!.
I’m very surprised you didn’t mention Sonic advance series, not only they were very well received but also they have a solid cult following, especially when you consider the transition period SEGA was going through during their release
I was surprised he didn't mentioned the Mega Man Battle Network series
Man, when my brother surprised me with the NES retro style GBA… life changer haha
Every time Metal Jesus would say "Neat" I would think of the Marge Simpson Meme and it was cracking me up love the show man
I spent most of this video being reminded of stuff from The Simpsons lol
Warioland 4 is a masterpiece. Close enough.
If NSMB is anything to go by, it's a blessing
I absolutely loved my GBA as a teen. I'm so glad there's so many ways to play the games these days because despite the original model being my fav way due to how comfortable it was, the screens dimness hurts it's playability these days without a screen mod
I recommend picking up,
•Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Assault
•Gekido Advance: Kintaro's Revenge.
And I love Advanced Wars to this day
Instead of dropping £500 plus on a new system, these videos make me wanna be experimental and go try stuff I’m completely ignorant about.
Thanks as always for sharing your collections!
ahhh man just when didyouknowgaming did a video on gameboy advance, it couldnt get any better than to see Metal jesus doing one too :)
Only one F-Zero game?! There's two more for the GBA and they kept getting better each time!
