Lyrics:
Look away while you still can
Close your eyes, say goodbye to this strange land
You never thought you had it good
And high school was just football games and processed food
You’ve been picking through the weeds too long
Surrounded by the echoes of a dream gone wrong
Running through the fields that led
To nothing but a song you’re singing in your head
Drive across the desert in a blue Ford Escape
Hopefully this car will live up to its name
You got 90 miles out of town
When you started thinking you should turn the car around
Go back home to your reckless dad
Maybe this time he’ll convince you that it’s not so bad
But then you snapped back down from outer space
Stared into the rear view mirror at your face
Swollen eyes, beaded sweat
Tattoos on your forehead and around your neck
Drive across the desert in a blue Ford Escape
Hopefully this car will live up to its name
Maggie are you listening in your blue Ford Escape
Hopefully your car will live up to its name

I've always said that this little lady is one of the few artists today who could hold her own in the 60's.
Not just 1960, throughout the 60s!!! --and beyond... She's great! Whole album is amazing...
"Hopefully, this car will live up to its name." For some reason I just love that line!
A grandma here. Busy raising a Maggie's daughter. Grandbaby and I have many adventures in our Blue Ford Escape. When this world starts to heal she will get to experience music festivals and great artists like you!
I drive a blue Ford, my favorite colours are orange and blue...., so what should I say? Sarah you‘re magic, and your songs touch my heart again and again. Thank you so much!
Sarah Jarosz restores my faith in...modern music, the album as a form, my capacity to fall in love with a song again. I’m enjoying this album more and more. This is my favourite song at the moment, but it has so many greats, including Orange and Blue, and What Do I Do.
I am sure the whole album is this amazing. Each song so far was brilliant. 🙌 I preordered the album from Sarah’s shop to make sure the money goes to the artist and not to some streaming company. Sarah deserves every penny because she is so talented. Her music makes the world a better place. 😃🤗
Absolutely! Everything you said is what I feel.
Sure Sarah is overflowing with talent. But with her, it's something more. She changes you when you listen. She changes the universe when she sings.
My 3 year old Máiréad(and I) really appreciate your music as well as IM WITH HER. Thank you.
You are one of the best musicians and singer I have ever seen/ heard. I've seen you 3 times at the Heights in Houston. Please come back soon. Your shows are incredible. Thanks
Lately I've been thinking that I'd love to see a movie or TV series based on World on the Ground. Maggie would be the main character 😉
Sarah...your music touches the heart...the mind...the soul...the stars...
I agree
Wonderful.
Sarah's childhood friend Maggie has been immortalized in a gorgeous tune by a gifted musician. What more could a person from Wimberly want?
Seems like the best song that has been revealed from this new album, so far.
😊👍
I agree
I love it ! The "Maggie are you listening" at the end... thanks Sarah !
This is an incredibly soothing song. I can't help but imagine what the words describe on the wings of the soaring melody even tough I am far far away.
Absolutely beautiful! Magic. The lyrics, the melody, I am in awe!
Wonderful atmosphere.
Love it layering in. Beautiful.
Musically and visually
Peace Love Cool
I love your voice, Sarah. It has that clear crystalline tone that's reminiscent of Suzanne Vega's early records.
Just great!
Fantastic!
Amazing.
Yee-Haw!! from Louisiana. Absolutely gorgeous outside. The birds are so happy!! Have you ever heard a song by Blanche - "I'm sure of it."
Beautiful, as usual.
Wonderful!
Absolutely superb. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
Love your music Sarah! Can't wait to get this CD.
❤️🎶🎵🎤🎶🎵🙏❤️😎
Brilliant! I love this song so much!
Best from Jarosz I've heard yet - which is really saying something.
Guitar work and mood remind me of Garnet Rogers' great Night Drive, and both are worthy of the comparison - which is something I never thought I would say.
I agree
Really really a wonderful song! many complimenst Sarah.
What a sweet gift for your friend!
Cant wait to see you live again, and continue my collection with signed c.d's...
Hi Sarah, 🖐️
Sounds great~!!! 🎼🎶
jebus, sarah....this is so delicious....glad to see these times leading to such perfectness
I would say something about her being an amazing songwriter, but you know that already.
Oh gosh I look forward to this album! This one has a little bit of what I'd consider The Doors in it, but maybe that's just my frame of reference for processing such vivid imagery and the musical richness.
Can't wait for your new CD to come out. Till then I guess I'll really learn what the meaning of patience is.
Sarah sounds like the landscapes of Wimberley... xoxoxo
This what I've been missing...XXOOXX
I guess this is her best record so far...
Great song....backing vocals sound like Shawn Colvin....am I right?
why ford escape, why not toyota prius then?
thank you :)))
The song us about escaping reality ,hence the name, plus Toyota Prius doesn't rhyme with anything.
A good song though kinda lost me with the line high school is just football and processed food.
Uhhh... have you ever set foot in a Texas high-school? That's literally all HS is. Education is secondary.
Source: am from Texas
Was a huge fan before Sarah joined up with I'm With Her. But as she matured into what she is now I've moved on. It's not you, it's me. And I'm ok with that.
Flounce niner-niner, you are clear for takeoff
I have been a big fan of Sarah Jaroz ever since her first recordings but this particular piece is some of the worst songwriting I have ever heard. It is incredibly disappointing to hear this kind of garbage after the absolutely stunning Undercurrent. So she got her grammy by allowing a producer to dumb down her music so as to appeal to the lowest common denominator - the people who, to borrow from Jason Isbell - can't do anything but "clap on the one and the three".
So flame away. It may be eye opening (for those of you watching ) to see just how abusive people can be. I'll supply the popcorn.
