Hey John if you ever find yourself back in South - southeast Oklahoma there is a really good small lake called Mountain Lake. It is owned by the city of Ardmore. Lots of big bass have been caught out of it including an old Oklahoma state largemouth record. Has a good smallmouth population in it as well.
love watching you fish the small lakes and streams. Its my favorite way to fish.
I live in Bixby Ok, probably 15-20 miles from this lake. I'm a "shore fisherman" and definitely need to check out this pond/lake. Lots of large perch and catching a nice bass would be icing on the cake! God bless!
I live 2 miles from there, I fish there about 3 times a week, that place has some big warmouth sunfish too.
Collinsville is about 100 miles west of me in Northwest Arkansas. I have enjoyed seeing you fish in the areas where I have fished.

Might I suggest that if in the same circumstances, you try a topwater and make long casts and slow twitching retrieves. The water is so clear, the bigger bass can see you a mile away.

I'd be a millionaire if I had $1 for every Bluegill I ever caught in Oklahoma. It was my favorite fish to catch. Some of the tiny creeks near the highways have huge Bluegill, We only had to walk a 1/4 mile to the pond near our house. Mom used give me a half slice of bacon and me and my friend would come back with 10 pounds of Bluegill! 1968. Norman Oklahoma.

Looked up Collinsville Lake. Most snake infested lake in the US. Cottonmouth in the water and around the walking path.

I was born and raised in Owasso Ok,still live here, Owasso just 8 miles south of Cvile. I know where you fished, when I was a teenager in the mid to late 70s we had parties there, not exactly fishing for fish!! Laughing

There are some great creeks and rivers up i. The LeFlure county area of Oklahoma. Smithville and Octavia have creeks with smallmouth….

Try broken bow lake or red slu
And btw red slu is like 15 minutes from me so i might be able to come down i do every few weekends theres some big gar and alot of bass its near haworth oklahoma south a little almost to red river broken bow lake is easy to find

I know that those big sunfish were fun, but you can’t find your bass pattern if your not fishing for them.
Just saying.
They pulled a 10 foot gator out of that lake a month or two ago. I think thats the biggest and furthest inland they have found one around here.

This morning I was fishing for Largemouth Bass in a 40 acer public pond in my kayak
I tried something that may sometimes work for you
I was trolling a unweighted 6" rubber worm on a 4/0 weedless hook behind me as I fished
I had that pole in a rod holder
When I stoped to cast I would look at the line and a number of times I would see the line get tight from a bass
Grew up tossing worms and bobber for them big prim

Don't go cheap on the rod. I would pay more for the rod than the reel. I got a st. croix pan fishing series and love it. Comment above is absolutely right about the reel. the pflueger president series 20s are great for a great price
I use a Shakespeare micro series ultralight combo. I’ve hauled 5 pound catfish on that thing but the button reel it comes with ( usually) is trash but you can find them with spinning reels too. That’s what I use. I have also caught 2 pound smallies on it and have had it for 2-3 years.

Please don’t pick up the Bass by the mouth horizontally you will break their jaw if you’re going to hold them horizontally please use two hands
This is what kills me around this area. There just isn't areas like this you get into.There is only one public pond/lake within 30 min. of where I live but you pretty much have to drive over an hour to find good parks and public access. Now, if you want to fish pay lakes, they're a dime a dozen.
Bout the only thing left to do in ok. Is buy your license and go home you can't hardly fish thear anymore
